Baldur’s Gate 3 PS5 release date: Launch time & preload details

Baldur’s Gate 3 has become one of the biggest releases of 2023, and PS5 players are wondering when they’ll be able to play it on their platform. Larian Studios confirmed the official BG3 release date for PS5, so here’s everything you need to know on how to preload it or play it on early access.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a huge success ever since its official release. Players have been captivated by this adventure of The Forgotten Realms, where characters must travel across Faerun seeking a cure for the Mind Flayers‘ parasite.

Larian Studios have been working hard to deliver the best experience to each console and have promised that Baldur’s Gate 3 version for PS5 will include every hotfix and patch that was required to update the PC version.

Is Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5?

Baldur’s Gate 3 PS5 release was confirmed for September 6, 2023. Players will be able to play it at the same time, even if they’ve purchased a physical or digital version.

How to preload Baldur’s Gate 3 in PS5?

Larian Studios confirmed that preloading on PS5 began on August 31 for people who bought the Digital Deluxe Edition. They’ll also be able to play Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access on September 2, 2023.

Players who bought the game’s standard edition will be able to preload it on September 4 and can start playing it on September 6, 2023.

If you purchased your Baldur’s Gate 3 copy digitally, the PS Store will give you the option to preload it when your version of the game goes live. However, if haven’t accepted the option when you bought it, here’s how you can preload your Baldur’s Gate 3 copy now:

1. Check the option to Stay Connected to the Internet on your PS5.
2. Go to your PS5 Game Library and select your copy of Baldur’s Gate 3.
3. A list of contents included with your preordered version will appear. You can check every file you want to download automatically. Everything left unchecked won’t auto-download once the time has come.
4. Once the game goes live, it will do so automatically.
