Baldur’s Gate 3 surpasses Zelda TOTK as Metacritic’s highest-rated game of 2023

Baldur’s Gate 3 has wasted no time in surpassing Zelda Tears of the Kingdom as Metacritic’s highest-rated game of 2023. Here are the scores for each game that has left BG3 on top.

This year has been great for the gaming industry, with a lot of successful launches. However, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was seemingly reigning undisputed as the highest-rated Metacritic game of 2023. Well, it seems that its rule has come to an end now following the launch of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has taken over the lead, managing to surpass TOTK. BG3 has now placed first on the Metacritic scoreboard, with a score of 97, which beats Zelda TOTK’s average of 96.

That is, of course, for the moment. We still have a lot of time before the year comes to an end, and many upcoming game launches, like Starfield could join the likes of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Zelda TOTK.

As we mentioned before, Metacritic’s scores change all the time, this doesn’t mean that Baldur’s Gate 3 has been crowned the game of the year, but if things remain the same despite all the launches that are coming before the end of 2023 after, we could be looking at one of the best RPG titles in the history of gaming based on reviews.

Similar to previous iterations of the Baldur’s Gate franchise, BG3 combines a solid narrative with interesting and charming characters, but with the addition of Larian Studio’s imprint on RPG action.

The game has many classes and options for you to build your own hero, but it is also filled with terrible dangers, challenging enemies, puzzles, and legendary weapons.
