Baldur’s Gate 3: Best Adamantine Forge gear
You can forge six items in the Adamantine Forge in Baldur’s Gate 3, although only some can fit any build perfectly. Here’s a list of every Adamantine Forge item you can make, ranked from worst to best:
6. Adamantine Longsword
- Damage: 1D8+1 Slashing (One-Handed), 1D10+1 Slashing (Two-Handed)
- Proficiency Requirement: Martial Weapons
- Buffs:
- Diamondsbane: If an adamantine weapon hits an object, the hit is always critical.
- Lethal Weapon: This weapon ignores Resistance to Slashing Damage.
- Weapon Enchantment +1
The Adamantine Longsword has the lowest rank of all gear because there are definitely better weapons you can find as early as Act 1, such as the Everburn Blade, or the Phalar Aluve. While its stats are just decent, you can make better use of your limited supply of Mithral Ore by crafting other options.
5. Adamantine Scimitar
- Damage: 1D6+1 Slashing
- Proficiency Requirement: Martial Weapons
- Buffs:
- Diamondsbane: If an adamantine weapon hits an object, the hit is always critical.
- Lethal Weapon: This weapon ignores Slashing Resistance.
- Weapon Enchantment +1
The Adamantine Scimitar is just below the lowest rank thanks to its Light property, which allows it to be dual-wielded, and Finesse, which makes it the only Adamantine weapon that can be used for martial fighters focused on Dexterity.
However, many Rapiers in-game will offer far better damage and buffs. As with the Adamantine Longsword, it’s better for you to save your Mithral Ore for other weapons.
4. Adamantine Mace
- Damage: 1D6+1 Bludgeoning
- Proficiency Requirement: Simple Weapons
- Buffs:
- Diamondsbane: If an adamantine weapon hits an object, the hit is always critical.
- Lethal Weapon: This weapon ignores Bludgeoning Resistance.
- Weapon Enchantment +1
While still not the best, the Adamantine Mace stands out thanks to its flexibility, which makes it suitable for multiple classes and builds, and can be equipped alongside a shield. However, this weapon doesn’t offer any powerful passives, and all of its special buffs are shared with the rest of the Adamantine weapons.
3. Adamantine Shield
- Armour: +2 AC
- Buffs:
- Shield Bash – When a foe hits you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction, to knock it Prone unless it succeeds a Dexterity Saving Throw.
- Immune to Critical Hits.
- When a melee attack misses you, the attacker is sent Reeling for 2 turns.
Crafting the Adamantine Shield lets you mix its buffs with other types of weapons, which can make it a dangerous combo during Act 2. It will also give you the Reeling effect and avoid critical hits, besides the Shield Bash reaction that knocks nearby enemies prone.
This shield can also be used by any character regardless of their armor proficiency, which makes it perfect for those who are using squishy classes such as bards, warlocks, wizards, and clerics.
2. Adamantine Splint Armor
- Armour: 18 AC
- Proficiency Requirement: Heavy Armour Proficiency
- Buffs:
- Magical Plate: All incoming damage is reduced by 2.
- Intense Adamantine Backlash: When a melee attack hits you, the attacker is sent Reeling for 3 turns. Attackers can’t land Critical Hits on the wearer.
- Disadvantage on Stealth Checks.
If you’re playing as a character with Heavy Armour Proficiency, you should definitely get the Adamantine Splint Armour. With a high Armor Class (AC), immunity to critical hits, damage reduction, and Reeling status effect, it’s one of the best sets you’ll get in the game.
Its only downside is that it can only be used by Fighters, Paladins, and certain Cleric subclasses.
1. Adamantine Scale Mail
- Armour: 16 AC
- Proficiency Requirement: Medium Armour Proficiency
- Buffs:
- Magical Plate: All incoming damage is reduced by 1.
- Adamantine Backlash: When a melee attack hits you, the attacker is sent Reeling for 2 turns. Attackers can’t land Critical Hits on the wearer.
- Disadvantage on Stealth rolls. AC bonus from Dexterity limited to +2.
The Adamantine Scale Mail is at the top of the list thanks to its flexibility to suit many classes giving similar benefits that are found only in heavy armor sets. It reduces all incoming damage and applies a Reeling effect on attackers which prevents receiving critical hits, which works great with characters with low Constitution.
