Cazador’s hidden bed buff can save your BG3 Honour Mode run
Larian StudiosPlayers might have given up on checking vases in Baldur’s Gate 3, but this hidden buff in Cazador’s palace has shown that there are still some secrets to be found there.
It’s no secret that Baldur’s Gate 3 is riddled with small puzzles that can take multiple playthroughs to discover. However, this hidden buff is insanely helpful when you’re getting ready to face Cazador in Act 3, and it has only been found by players who paid close attention to Larian Studios’ patch notes.
Fighting Cazador Szarr can be daunting, especially if you’re not using Scratch or a Mage Hand summon to help you quickly disrupt his ritual. If you’re feeling that your characters could make use of an extra HP buff during your Honour Mode run, you can search his bed to get a condition called “False Life” that will give you +17 temporary points to your health.
As Larian Studios’ patch notes mentioned, lying in Cazador’s bed will grant you this buff, but you’ll first need to activate it by checking all the vases in Cazador’s Dungeon (X:-1929, Y:852). One of the vases will talk to your party, and will tell you to “lie where Cazador lies”. After that, you can use the bed next to the skull to get the buff.
Redditors were shocked to have missed this detail, and some confessed that they were intrigued when the devs referenced it in Baldur’s Gate 3 update. Throughout the story, clicking on vases will generally show you an empty inventory, or even some useless items that you’re better without.
However, failing to check Cazador’s vases has shown that there is indeed a reason why Baldur’s Gate 3 devs insisted on having them scattered around. “I just knew there had to be a punishment for giving up on vases ever being useful,” read a comment.
“This has, regretfully, fully regressed all the progress I’ve made on not clicking every vase,” joked a player after having discovered this trick.
Once again, these secrets show that there’s a lot more to discover in every corner of Baldur’s Gate 3. If you want to know more about Larian Studios’ RPG, you can find out why ignoring Rolan in Act 1 has heartbreaking consequences and how to fix Shadowheart’s early game woes.
