BG3’s most overpowered damage class doesn’t even need weapons

The debate about which class is the strongest damage is not a heated one among Baldur’s Gate 3 players, as Monks have been dubbed the best damage class rivaled only by Barbarians and Paladins. Monks don’t need weapons to be strong, though, and this appeals to many fans.

Baldur’s Gate 3 gives its players a lot of freedom in how they want to play the game, but if you’re looking for a high-damage class, many players are claiming that Monk is the way to go.

Specifically, Open Hand Monk is one of the best classes in Baldur’s Gate 3 for high damage output that you don’t need weapons for. You have better survivability than a spellcaster and the damage of a Barbarian or Paladin without the need for the strongest weapons.

Monks are also very strong in the early game, which makes them a great pick for players who don’t want to fret too much about crafting a character each time you level up. It means that you can run a powerful build that starts strong and gets better as you play.

“[Monk] makes 3 attacks per turn starting at level 1 and becomes more of a monster as they level up. Super easy to understand too. Just punch stuff,” ‘Sea_Yam7813’ shared on Reddit.

Monk has been dubbed as the best damage class in BG3.

The thing that makes Monks so strong is that you have more opportunities to attack than other classes do with Flurry of Blows. As a result, you can do more damage more often, and this becomes even stronger as you level up.

To put it into context, you start the game with three attacks as a Monk. Before you even reach Level 4, you can attack more often and with a decent amount of damage. It’s a little cheesy, but it’s undeniably fun to play.

Monks are also quite easy to master as they use a bit of a rinse-and-repeat philosophy if you’re just going in for the kill every time. So, they make a great option for both players who are new to the game and veterans who want to try something new and slightly overpowered.

So, if you’re looking for a new experience the next time you play, be sure to give Way of the Open Hand Monk a try. You might find that you can take bosses down more easily, and with the upcoming Patch 7 release, it’s the perfect time to think about a new playthrough.
