Genius Baldur’s Gate 3 trick kills Mizora without sacrificing Wyll
Larian StudiosWyll’s questline in Baldur’s Gate 3 can get a little tricky when Mizora gets involved, which is all the time. Now, one player has found a trick to kill Mizora without damning Wyll to Avernus.
If you kill Mizora in Baldur’s Gate 3 while Wyll still has a contract with her, the lovable Warlock will be damned to Avernus for all eternity. It’s a difficult situation given he’s very clear about his struggle with being in the contract from the moment you meet him.
This leads a lot of Wyll fans to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. If you want to help him out, he will likely end up in an even worse situation.
Even when you get the option to help him out of his contract, he then needs to sacrifice his father for his freedom. His quest is extremely interesting to navigate because of these decisions, but when you look at it from his perspective, his life kind of sucks.
One player found a way to work around all these horrible decisions, without damning Wyll to Avernus and freeing him from Mizora permanently. All you need are three things:
- A Wizard who has unlocked the Illithid power ‘Ability Drain.’
- A Level 9 Cleric or Druid who has the spell Contagion.
- Any party member who has unlocked the Illithid power ‘Absorb Intellect.’
‘Finnick000’ continued to share their trick in a post on Reddit, and here are the basic steps:
- Let the Wizard attack Mizora until her Intelligence is reduced to 1.
- Let the Cleric/Druid cast Contagion: Mindfire on her.
- Cast Absorb Intellect on her to reduce her Intelligence to 0.
There are a few more things to consider when you do this. Most importantly, you need to make sure you’ve completed Wyll’s quest before you do it.
The reason why this can work against Mizora is because she is not immune to a mechanic in Baldur’s Gate 3 that kills anyone whose ability score is reduced to 0. It’s a great workaround because it means you can get rid of Mizora for good.
Aside from story reasons, using this method to kill Mizora still guarantees all the perks you get through the game from keeping her alive.
She will still give you the Infernal Rapier when you save her from the Illithid Colony, and you can still use her help to find and save Wyll’s dad. At the end of it all, you can still help give Wyll the justice he’s been lacking in his journey for so long.
