Baldur’s Gate 3: How to recruit Minthara after betraying her in Emerald Grove
Larian StudiosMinthara being portrayed as an evil character in Baldur’s Gate 3 did not stop players from wanting her in their camp. So the devs introduced yet another way of adding her to the camp, making her recruitment even more accessible, and here’s how to do it in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Act 1 revolves around one main event: Raiding Emerald Grove or saving it. You can choose to either side with the Goblins and help them take it down, defend the Grove against the Goblin threat, or you can just straight up kill the Goblin leaders to prevent any raid from happening at all.
Despite Minthara being a popular companion in Baldur’s Gate 3, players were not ready to slaughter the entire Grove to have her at their side. So Larian made it possible to recruit her after knocking her out using non-lethal damage in an older patch.
However, the only way you could do this was by knocking her out in the Goblin camp, before speaking to her in the first place. If you had defended the Grove from the attack, this kind of recruitment was not possible. Since the release of Patch 6, though, this has changed as there is a new way to recruit her and save the Grove at the same time.
Here’s how you can recruit Minthara even after betraying her in Emerald Grove.
How to recruit Minthara in Baldur’s Gate 3 after defending Emerald Grove
You can recruit Minthara in Baldur’s Gate 3 by knocking her out when you are defending Emerald Grove from the Goblin raid.
Step by step, here is what you need to do:
- Speak to Minthara in the Goblin Camp and give her information on Emerald Grove.
- Do not kill the Goblin leaders.
- Take a long rest.
- Immediately return to the Grove and warn Zevlor of the impending raid.
- Help the Tieflings and Druids defend Emerald Grove.
- Use non-lethal damage on Minthara to knock her out.
- Find her in Moonrise Towers in Act 2.
- Recruit Minthara.
The most important part of this entire process is to ensure that you use non-lethal damage on Minthara to knock her out. If she dies at any point in Act 1, you will not be able to find her in Moonrise Towers.
If you want to rescue Halsin during this playthrough, you should also make sure that you do that before you speak to Minthara. Do not take him with you, though, as that will aggro everyone in the Goblin camp toward you and you cannot recruit Minthara in this way. It’s better to leave him in the Warg prison and he should show up in Emerald Grove after.
It is also important to keep in mind that you should not long rest right after knocking out Minthara in Emerald Grove, and instead head to your camp for all the celebrations before finally signing off for the day.
