Tusk in Baldur's Gate 3

Animal friends in Baldur’s Gate 3 are not lacking, and Tusk is one of the first you come across in Emerald Grove. He’s a dancing boar who’s waiting for Halsin to come back and help him find a mate, but the Druid is otherwise occupied.

As a result, many fans have grown fond of Tusk and have hoped that he gets a happy ending. Well, the good news is that you can grant him one, but there are a few requirements you need to meet.

Firstly, make sure that Halsin makes it to the end of the game. This is the most important part of making sure Tusk gets a new mate. The Druid can die in Act 1 if you don’t go to rescue him from the Goblins before you enter the Mountains or the Shadow-Cursed Lands.

He can also die if you decide to raid Emerald Grove with the Goblins. In the ambush, he’ll confront you and fight you, and you won’t have another option but to kill him yourself.

In Act 2, he will have joined your party, but you must lift the Shadow Curse if you want to have him in your party in Act 3 and subsequently the end of the game.

Shadow Spirit of the Land in Baldur's Gate 3
You must lift the Shadow Curse to get Halsin in your party in Act 3.

If you’ve met all of these conditions, then all you need to do is go and speak with Halsin in the Epilogue. He will reveal that he forgot to help the boar, and hops off happily to find him a mate, granting Tusk his happy ending.

Interestingly, one player discovered that this dialogue option can also be triggered if you save Shadowheart’s parents. As ‘thepwippippapers’ explained, Shadowheart will tell you dad jokes if they survive – including one about a boar.

“You’ll then have the option to repeat Shadowheart’s joke to [Halsin], during which he’ll realise that he forgot to find a mate for Tusk. However, fear not, as he’ll say that he’ll immediately write to the grove, implying that Tusk will no longer remain mateless,” the OP explained.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has a lot of happy endings you can get if you play your cards right, but a lot of players are looking forward to the new evil endings that are coming with Patch 7. If rumors are true, we may also have the option to get Alfira as a companion.
