Electronic Arts and developers DICE have announced that the highly-anticipated release of Battlefield 2042 has been delayed.

Battlefield 2042 was scheduled to release on October 22, 2021, but after weeks of radio silence and questions about the game’s missing open beta, confirmation of the delay has finally arrived.

In a statement, EA and DICE announced that Battlefield 2042 will be released on November 19, 2021, almost a month after fans first expected to get their hands on it.

In the announcement regarding the Battlefield 2042 delay, EA and DICE explained:

“We’ve made the decision to shift the launch of Battlefield 2042. The game will now be released worldwide on November 19th, 2021.

Building the next generation of Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams. Given the scale and scope of the game, we had hoped our teams would be back in our studios together as we move towards launch. With the ongoing conditions not allowing that to happen safely, and with all the hard work the teams are doing from home, we feel it is important to take the extra time to deliver on the vision of Battlefield 2042 for our players.

Your enthusiasm for the game has been very inspiring. We believe in the game we’re making, and we thank you for your patience as we put some finishing touches into the experience.

Updates on the Open Beta will be coming later this month,” stated DICE Studio GM Oskar Gabrielson in a press release.

Battlefield 2042 was first announced on June 9, with fans getting their first glimpse at the game’s new maps, Hazard Zone mode, Specialists, and much more. The end of 2021 was set to see EA’s FPS juggernaut go head-to-head with Call of Duty: Vanguard and Halo Infinite, but unfortunately, this matchup will be taking place later than originally planned.

Battlefield 2042 will now be released on November 19, 2021, on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, and PS4.
