Extremely disappointed with Battlefield 2042’s state at launch, players have launched a petition to allow for refunds on all platforms – and it’s rapidly becoming one of Change.org’s top signed.

Although being one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2021, Battlefield 2042 was poorly received by long-time fans and new players alike. While the core gameplay has been criticized, it’s the poor performance and game-breaking bugs and glitches that have really riled the community.

Players have been begging for refunds, in some cases successfully, and have now launched a petition to try and get a refund, claiming that the game was falsely advertised.

The “Allow Refund for Battlefield 2042 on All Platforms” petition was launched a month ago, but only recently started picking up traction. It has over 24,000 signatures at the time of writing, and Change.org says it will become one of the top signed if it hits 25k.

The creator, who goes by ‘Satoshi Nakamoto,’ said that “EA’s release of Battlefield 2042 was a mockery of every customer who purchased this video game for $70 (USD) due to EA’s false advertising.”

The petitioner made some rather bold claims, saying that “Battlefield 2042 has cost consumers millions of dollars in damages and upset thousands of customers worldwide.” They also said that the “gaming community should not tolerate this abuse and bullying from multi-billion dollar corporations.”

They stated that “Electronic Arts and DICE did not keep many promises made at launch, and Battlefield 2042 was launched as unplayable,” and it “still has bugs that drastically change the in-game experience.”

The petitioner claims that if the petition receives at least 50K signatures, “one of the best class-action lawsuit lawyers in the country is willing to take our case against EA.”

They want players to think of signing this petition as the “the equivalent of saying, ‘I wish I got a refund on this game,'” and ask players to sign if they feel they deserve a refund for Battlefield 2042.

It’s unlikely that Battlefield 2042 players have any legal rights in seeking refunds, though. Industry insider Tom Henderson spoke to lawyer Richard Hoeg, who said that from a legal point of view, EA and DICE have done nothing wrong.
