Battlefield 2042 players slam identical weapon attachments

There’s no shortage of weapon attachments to unlock in Battlefield 2042, but players feel they are too similar to make them worth the grind.

Battlefield 2042 weapon attachments

Battlefield 2042 has plenty of attachments for players to work towards, kitting out their weapons with powerful sights and grips. However, fans aren’t happy that many of the attachments for the same weapons function almost exactly the same.

Despite still being in early access, the launch of Battlefield 2042 has come with a number of problems. Players have already hit out at the roster of weapons available upon release, and devs have had to respond to concerns over bullet spread.

The first official season is still some way off, so DICE has time to get long-time fans back onside. But there’s no doubt that it hasn’t been the smoothest of launches for the shooter sequel.

Now, early access players have called out the customization available for each of the weapons. One Reddit user uploaded screenshots, showing that many of the attachments are almost identical despite being for the same guns.

Reddit user ultrajvan shared a series of in-game screenshots from the weapon customization menu in Battlefield 2042. The images showed side-by-side comparisons of attachments for the same weapons.

In them, you can see that unlockables for the same weapons have exactly the same buffs and nerfs, even though they are different attachments.

For example, the 6KU Suppressor and Wrapped Suppressor for the M5A3 both give the same buffs to sound suppression and minimap spotting. They also lowered the effective range of the weapon, but the latter drops the overall firepower by five.

The similarity between attachments like these has left fans wondering why they are so many to unlock when they do little to change how a weapon plays.

The screenshots sparked an angry reaction from fellow Battlefield 2042 players, who questioned this design choice by DICE.

“It just feels like they’re trolling people. It’s one big joke on all of us,” replied one fan. “Feels like [they were] designed as cosmetic from the get-go, the effects are afterthoughts,” said another.

Others questioned if this was actually a UI glitch that hid the real effects each attachment brings. “I hope the attachment UI is just bugged and shows the wrong values here and will be fixed in the day-one patch.”

DICE are yet to comment on the concerns raised by players. It’s unclear at the moment if this is a glitch or the way that devs intended attachments to work.

Stay tuned on Charlie INTEL for more updates as edge closer to Battlefield 2042’s worldwide release.

Battlefield 2042 devs respond after players slam Santa Claus Holiday skin

DICE have responded to the major player criticisms of the Santa Claus Holiday-themed skin in Battlefield 2042.

Santa Claus in Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042 players weren’t too happy when DICE added a Santa Claus Holiday-themed skin to the game, and now the developers have responded to the criticism.

There is a plethora of fun content in Battlefield 2042, and the developers decided to get players into the holiday spirit by adding a Santa Claus skin to the game. However, this cosmetic was heavily criticized.

Many fans roasted the skin, stating that it was too “goofy” and didn’t fit the serious tone of Battlefield. This led to a response from the developers, who explained their decision to create this skin.

Various Battlefield 2042 players stated that the Santa Claus Holiday-themed skin doesn’t suit the tone of the game. Some felt that a cosmetic like this belongs in a light-hearted title like Fortnite.

The Battlefield Direct Communication Twitter account responded by letting players know that they didn’t plan to reveal the Holiday-themed cosmetics and then clarified their actual purpose in the game.

They made it clear that while they designed these cosmetic skins, they “presently have no plans to utilize all of them this Holiday.” Instead, they were mostly meant for a “single-time use” in Portal modes.

“Throughout our live service, you may occasionally encounter these mode locked cosmetics, which don’t impact the rest of the game,” they tweeted. Meaning that some of these are just special cosmetics that aren’t meant to represent the overall tone of the game.

There were a variety of different reactions from players in the replies. Some of them expressed their relief that these types of skins are not going to be the norm in Battlefield 2042, while others labelled this response as “damage control.”

“Not a chance in hell,” replied one user. “You think they’d tease holiday skins, before the holidays, without intending to use them before the backlash?” This was a sentiment shared by quite a few repliers.

At the time of writing, it remains to be seen whether or not the Santa Claus skin will still be a part of the game after the criticism it received from fans. The developers might have some surprises planned for the Holiday season.

Battlefield 2042 players roast “goofy” Santa Claus Holiday skin

Battlefield 2042 players aren’t happy with the new Santa Claus holiday-themed skin and are roasting it online.

Published

DICE decided to bring the holiday spirit to Battlefield 2042 by adding a Santa Claus skin to the game, but unimpressed players have been relentlessly roasting it.

Battlefield 2042 has a variety of new content for fans to enjoy, like Portal which lets you create your own game modes, as well as some powerful new weapons like the SVK Marksman Rifle.

The developers have also decided to get players into the holiday spirit by adding a Santa Claus skin. However, Battlefield fans aren’t impressed with this cosmetic and are openly roasting it online.

Battlefield 2042 player in hazard zone

Reddit user SoyUnGregorio shared an image of the new Santa Claus skin in the Battlefield 2042 subreddit, and they were not impressed. “DICE, what are you doing with the game,” they asked.

The skin is called Father Winter, and players can unlock it by completing missions in Week 3 of the pre-season. Many of the commenters shared the Redditor’s opinion and began roasting the cosmetic.

“I knew clown show skins like these were coming,” one player sarcastically replied. “But DICE wasted no time and added them in the very first update. Incredible.” Many users jokingly stated that they can’t believe this is real.

“When people talked about EA/DICE introducing Santa Claus and clown skins to Battlefield I thought we were all just joking around,” commented another player.

A few users did enjoy this new skin. “Yeah I think it’s definitely good they did it,” wrote ozner55. “The game overall just needs a little more content. Even if it’s a goofy Christmas thing, I’m totally fine with that. Having new stuff to unlock is simply positive.”

The Battlefield 2042 launch has been troublesome, and this new cosmetic hasn’t done much to get the community in a better mood when playing the game. There have also been many other problems.

Players have complained about the map design and Shroud explained why weapon bloom is ruining the game. We’ve also seen a bug that makes smoke grenades useless and error messages plaguing fans.
