Battlefield 2042 Season 1: Zero Hour has been announced, so here’s everything you need to know including the release date, Exposure map, new weapons, Specialist, and more.

Almost all multiplayer games have adopted the live service model, adding more content with seasonal updates. Battlefield 2042 will have the same model, “enhancing the Battlefield experience through seasons that will continue to evolve the world of Battlefield 2042.”

Seven months after launch, DICE are preparing to release the game’s first season into the wild. Alongside announcing that they have abandoned the Hazard Zone mode, the devs revealed what we can expect to see in Season 1 and beyond.

Here’s everything we know about Battlefield 2042 Season 1, including its release date and content, including the new map, weapons, Specialist, and more.

Battlefield 2042 Season 1 start date

After Battlefield 2042 Season 1 was delayed, the devs have now confirmed it will go live on June 9, 2022.

Season 1 should last around 12 weeks, which means that Season 2 should arrive on September 1 if there are no delays.

Battlefield 2042 Season 1 brings Exposure map

Battlefield 2042’s Season 1 update brings a brand new map called Exposure set in the Canadian Rockies.

Exposure sees combat both above and below ground, where players can either take to the vertical cliff faces or fight in close-quarters infantry combat in the underground tunnels and offices.

The devs sound confident that Season 1’s map will be one of their best yet, and they hope that “these changes help to create a more fun and tactical experience.”

New weapons, vehicles & gadgets in Battlefield 2042 Season 1

Battlefield 2042 Season 1 brings two new weapons, two new vehicles, and a new Gadget as part of the Battle Pass.

The two new weapons are the Ghostmaker R10 Crossbow and the BSV-M Marksman Rifle. The Crossbow will be best suited for close-medium range, where players can equip light, heavy, and explosive bolts. The BSV-M acts very similarly to the other Marksman Rifle, being particularly rewarding for accurate players.

The update also introduces the RAH-068 Huron and the YG-99 Hannibal Gunship Stealth Helicopters. These two choppers are almost identical, with one used on the US side and the other on the Russian. Players can also swap the Helicopters between Stealth and Attack modes which give them different playstyles and abilities.

And finally, the new Smoke Grenade Launcher Gadget will be perfect for medic players who like to run Falck and Angel.

Ewena Lis Specialist arrives in Battlefield 2042 Season 1

Polish anti-vehicle expert Ewena Lis joins Battlefield 2042’s Specialist roster in Season 1.

Being part of the Engineer class, Lis uses the G-84 TGM guided missile to take down both air and ground vehicles and has the Armor Hunter Trait which allows her to automatically spot enemy vehicles. However, these vehicle spots will only be visible to her.

Battlefield 2042 Season 1 Battle Pass

Of course, Battlefield 2042 Season 1 also brings a Battle Pass where players can unlock free and premium cosmetics, as well as the new weapons, vehicles, and gadgets.

Although the full Battle Pass hasn’t been revealed yet, DICE confirmed that players can unlock “skins, BFC, Player Card Backgrounds, weapon charms, takedowns, and more.”
