EA is finally bringing an exclusive Battlefield game to mobile and tablets, so get all the latest information on DICE’s Battlefield Mobile: including its release date, and crucial details such as setting, weapons, and gameplay features.

For years Battlefield has reigned on consoles and PCs, delivering one rich, compelling war experience after another. From the acclaimed Bad Company series to the epic Battlefield 2142, EA’s premiere first-person shooter franchise has been the king of large-scale gunplay.

But now, players will be able to enjoy the same authentic feeling in the palms of their hands thanks to Battlefield Mobile. The game has now appeared on the Google Play Store, meaning we have tons of new information about it.

Here’s everything we know about Battlefield Mobile on tablets and phones.

Battlefield Mobile release date

The game’s official press release indicated that DICE is “developing a completely new Battlefield game bringing all-out warfare to smartphones and tablets in 2022.”

The fact that it’s now on the Google Play Store is a good sign and means that the game is closer to its beta testing.

Unless the game’s development is disrupted in some way, we would expect the completed version of Battlefield Mobile sometime in 2022.

Battlefield Mobile gameplay

The first Battlefield Mobile playtest has officially gone live in Indonesia and the Phillipines, giving fans of the series their first opportunity to look at gameplay from Android phones.

At the moment, only the Grand Bazaar map is playable, with classic mode Conquest the only mode available to choose from.

EA have stated that more regions will be able to try out the game in the near future, stating: “Once the game becomes available in your region, you’ll be able to pre-register on your Google Play Store and be informed automatically when testing opens in your area.”

Battlefield Mobile Beta: Start date & sign-up details

An FAQ regarding the Battlefield Mobile Beta outlined EA’s plans for the game, including its Beta start date and who’d be able to play it.

They said: “We’ll be steadily rolling out Battlefield Mobile starting with a series of smaller playtests in Indonesia and the Philippines” and that “the first of these begins Autumn 2021, and will only be available on Android devices.”

As time goes on, they will widen the availability of the Beta, and EA says “you’ll be able to pre-register for it on your local Google Play Store page, and you’ll be informed automatically when the playtesting opens up in your area. Testing slots are limited, so those who pre-register aren’t guaranteed access to playtesting, but you will be notified of later releases.”

Battlefield Mobile free-to-play

Also in the EA FAQ, they confirmed that Battlefield Mobile will be free-to-play, meaning that the only sort of things that would require payment are cosmetics

These are the optional purchases that users can choose between:

  • Battle Passes
  • Collectible cosmetics
  • Unlockables unique to Battlefield Mobile

Battlefield Mobile crossplay

EA has confirmed that Battlefield Mobile will not feature crossplay in any way shaper or form. The game is “being built specifically for mobile,” so it will only see the light of day on mobile.

Battlefield Mobile Specialists

As with usual Battlefield games, Mobile seems like it will make use of the Specialist system, allowing players to spawn into a game with one of several different options.

Players will be able to select from the following Specialists:

  • Assault
  • Support
  • Medic
  • Recon

Each will have its own special traits and skills that differentiate them from one another. Depending on how the game you’re in is going, you might need to chop and change to adjust to the fight.

Battlefield Mobile weapons

The game’s official description on the store says: “Find your personal play style and customize your soldier to maximize their capabilities. Weapons, gadgets, skins, and more can be personalized and upgraded to match your class and progress.

“War heroes with unique narratives prepare for battle, each with their own assignment. Learn their stories, immerse yourself in the war and stand out on the battlefield with the best customization to date.”

With Battlefield Mobile Mobile expected to be a live-service game, we expect that new weapons and skins will be continuously added similarly to CoD Mobile.

Thanks to the screenshots, we know some weapons that will be in Battlefield Mobile:

  • F2000
  • P226
  • SMAW
  • Frag Grenade

Battlefield Mobile vehicles

With huge maps and locations, you need big, beastly vehicles that can help to turn the tide in a game of Battlefield.

Per the game’s bio, there will be opportunities to “commandeer an ATV” and use a “fully-armored tank.” Another line also states “Battle in land, sea, and air,” so expect the usual array of boats, planes, and helicopters to control as well.

Battlefield Mobile setting

The much-lauded franchise has explored different reaches of human history with games set in different World Wars, the present day, and even way into the future.

DICE has indicated that Battlefield Mobile will be “A completely different game from the one we’re making for console and PC, designed specifically for the mobile platform.”

So whereas the new console version of Battlefield is rumored to be set during an alternate modern-day, it seems likely that Battlefield Mobile will venture off in a different direction. In terms of the game’s maps and content, the leaks say that it will contain “maps and modes both new and familiar.”
