Battlefield 2042’s PC system requirements have been revealed, but players are worried over the extremely high-end specs apparently needed to play the game – with some realizing that the CPU recommendations don’t add up.

Battlefield 2042 is set to be the most ambitious entry in the franchise yet, boasting 128 players on its massive maps, with dynamic weather and events changing the playing field. This is set to be so graphically demanding that previous and next-gen consoles will have separate editions.

The PC version of 2042 will be the same as the Xbox Series consoles and PlayStation 5, featuring all of the next-gen capabilities. But, it appears that Battlefield 2042 will require an extremely beefy PC to run, which has led to confusion and worry among players.

Alongside Battlefield’s Open Beta dates, DICE revealed how progression and cosmetics will work, alongside the minimum and recommended PC requirements. These were posted to the Battlefield 2042 subreddit, and players were both shocked and confused.

For Battlefield 2042‘s Beta, DICE recommends that players have an NVIDIA 3060. Thanks to shortages, this can be extremely difficult and expensive to acquire. Luckily, the minimum is a 1050ti which was released back in 2016, so many worries were put to rest.

What most players took issue with are the CPU requirements. Both the minimum and recommended AMD CPUs are high-end, which has led players to worry that their rigs won’t be able to handle it.

However, PC enthusiasts said that the minimum AMD CPU (the Ryzen 5 3600) is supposedly better for gaming than the recommended (Ryzen 7 2700X). And both of these are much more powerful than the listed Intel counterparts, the i5 6600K and i7 4790.

Many said not to put too much faith in these system requirements, as one user said the “CPU requirements are nonsensical.” Plus, user Akardyagain said that “it’s pretty pointless information unless it also tells you what frame rate and settings and resolution that’s aiming for,” which the official listing doesn’t.

PC players can play Battlefield 2042’s Open Beta for free on October 8, which will give players a chance to see exactly how well the game runs on their rig.
