Battlefield 2042 has incredibly high recommended system requirements, with devs saying that you need at least an RTX 3060 and Ryzen 7 2700X to play the game as its best.
However, players have called these requirements “nonsensical,” and say they might not be accurate to what’s actually required.
How to update graphics drivers
Before diving into Battlefield 2042 on PC, we recommend you check that your graphics drivers are up to date to make sure your rig is reaching its optimal performance.
Here’s how to update your graphics drivers.
How to update NVIDIA graphics driver
If you have an NVIDIA graphics card, the GeForce experience app will handle this for you.
- Download GeForce experience through NVIDIA.com
- Open GeForce experience
- Select the ‘Drivers’ tab
- Click ‘check for updates’ in the upper right corner
- If an update is available, follow the steps
How to update AMD graphics driver
If you have an AMD GPU, you can use the Radeon Settings to update your drivers.
- Right-click on your desktop
- Select AMD Radeon Settings
- Click on the Home icon
- Click ‘New Updates’ on the bottom left
- Select ‘check for update’
- If an update is available, follow the steps
Best Battlefield 2042 PC settings for low-end hardware
If your hardware is on the lower end, you may struggle to include some of the high graphical settings Battlefield 2042 has to offer.
We’ve put together settings that should give you at least a stable 60 FPS, but of course, you can tweak it to your liking.
Screen Setup
- Fullscreen Mode: Fullscreen
- Fullscreen Device: Monitor 1 (your preference)
- Fullscreen Resolution: Your monitor’s resolution (e.g 1920 x 1080)
- Refresh Rate: Highest possible option (e.g 143.855Hz)
Field of View
- Field of View: 65
- Vehicle 3P Field of View: 30
- ADS Field of View: Off
Field of View works differently in Battlefield 2042 than it does in Warzone. While Call of Duty’s slider affects horizontal FOV, Battlefield’s affects vertical. Thanks to CoD YouTuber JGOD, we understand that a 68 Vertical FOV in Battlefield roughly equals a 100 FOV in Call of Duty.
Graphics Settings
- Brightness: 50
- High Dynamic Range: Off
- Motion Blur: 0
- Chromatic Abberation: Off
- Film Grain: Off
- Vignette: Off
- Lens Distortion: Off
No matter the game, you want to turn off settings such as Motion Blur, Chromatic Abberation, and Film Grain. These unnecessary visual effects will put you at a disadvantage and make your game look worse for no reason.
Graphics Preset
- Graphics Quality: Custom
- Texture Quality: Medium
- Texture Filtering: Low
- Lighting Quality: Low
- Effects Quality: Low
- Post Process Quality: Low
- Mesh Quality: Low
- Terrain Quality: Low
- Undergrowth Quality: Low
- Antialiasing Post-Processing: TAA Low
- Ambient Occlusion: Off
For the most part, you can set Battlefield 2042’s graphics options to Low. The game will still look pretty good, and you’ll get a higher and more stable frame rate to boot.
Advanced
- Dynamic Resolution Scale: On (if struggling to maintain 60FPS)
- DLSS: Off
- Ray Traced Ambient Occlusion: Off
- NVIDA Reflex Low Latency: Enabled + Boost
- Future frame rendering: On
- Vertical Sync: Off
- High fidelity objects amount: Low
Future frame rendering is a solid option to include if you need to squeeze more frames out of your system, but it could give some Input Lag, so you’ll need to test it out for yourself.

And Ray Tracing will make your game look even more realistic, but the impact on frames isn’t worth it for a multiplayer experience.
Best Battlefield 2042 PC settings for high-end hardware
If your rig meets or goes beyond the recommended specs, you’ll be able to set some high graphics settings to make the game look its best.
However, you don’t want them all set to maximum, so here’s a solid balance between High and Low settings for the best visuals and performance.
Screen Setup
- Fullscreen mode: Fullscreen
- Fullscreen device: Monitor 1 (your preference)
- Fullscreen Resolution: Your monitor’s resolution (e.g 1920 x 1080)
- Refresh rate: Highest possible option (e.g 143.855Hz)
Field of View
- Field of View: 70
- Vehicle 3P Field of View: 30
- ADS Field of View: Off
You should be free to crank up your FOV a little with a high-end rig. But, FOV all comes down to preference so choose the value that best suits you.
Graphics Settings
- Brightness: 50
- High Dynamic Range: On
- Motion Blur: Off
- Chromatic abberation: Off
- Film Grain: Off
- Vignette: Off
- Lens Distortion: Off
Again, even with extremely high-end specs, you always want these extra graphics settings turned off.
Graphics Preset
- Graphics Quality: Custom
- Texture quality: High
- Texture filtering: Medium
- Lighting quality: Medium
- Effects quality: Medium
- Post process quality: Low
- Mesh quality: Low
- Terrain quality: Low
- Undergrowth quality: Low
- Antialiasing post-processing: TAA Low
- Ambient occlusion: HBAO
Even Battlefield 2042 players on high-end rigs are reporting performance issues, so you might not want to crank all of the settings to maximum. Instead, we’ve set a High Texture Quality but lowered the graphics on unnecessary details.
Advanced
- Dynamic Resolution Scale: Off
- DLSS: Off
- Ray Traced Ambiet Occlusion: Off
- NVIDA Reflex Low Latency: On
- Future frame rendering: on
- Vertical sync: Off
- High fidelity objects amount: Low
How to use NVIDIA DLSS in Battlefield 2042
If you have an NVIDIA RTX graphics card, you can go to the Advanced Video Settings and set DLSS to either Auto, Ultra-Performance, Performance, Balanced, or Quality.
NVIDIA’s DLSS (or Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology allows players with RTX graphics cards to see much higher FPS when playing Battlefield 2042 at a high resolution.
It sets the game to a lower resolution, increasing performance, and then upscales it to give similar visuals. It’s best suited for those playing at 4K, but 1440p users could also benefit.
And those are the best Battlefield 2042 PC graphics settings, no matter how powerful your rig.
