New leak claims Battlefield 6 may not have a campaign
Industry insider Tom Henderson, who has leaked a ton of Battlefield 6 details, has revealed that it’s likely 2021’s installment of the first-person shooter won’t feature a campaign.
Battlefield’s campaigns have been hit and miss for players. The Bad Company series and Battlefield 1’s “War Stories” are considered highlights, but many others are considered forgettable.
We’ve received a ton of information about the next Battlefield, including its title, setting, and the possibility of a battle royale. The one aspect of the game very little is known about is the campaign, and leaker and industry insider Tom Henderson believes the game may not feature a campaign at all.
Henderson took to Twitter to counter a recent Reddit leak that contradicted some of his reporting. He shot down the leak that, “If you were on the US team, you could choose a US, Australian, British, French, Japanese, or German soldier,” saying that “This is not correct.”
He then revealed that “You’re a group of individuals from fallen nations – You’re free to fight to fight for which ever side you want. So in theory a Japanese soldier could fight for both the USA and Russia.”
After players understood this to be the plot and mechanics for the campaign, Henderson clarified that it isn’t. He said: “I’ve not heard there’s a campaign.” He continued to say that what he “originally heard on it was actually the plot.”
Here, he refers to the leak that Battlefield 6 would have a “revolutionary campaign.” In a follow-up to this leak, Henderson said on March 30, “The information given to me was interpreted as campaign information, but is actually the backstory of the game itself. So as of yet, a campaign is not confirmed.”
We reached out to Tom Henderson and he clarified that because neither he nor anyone else has heard anything about a campaign, “it kind of leans to the fact that there isn’t a campaign this year.”
With the trailer expected to drop after EA’s investment call in May, we’re likely to know much more about the next installment of the shooter franchise soon.
