Best Cold War AK-74u loadout

The AK-74u remains an extremely popular and powerful SMG in Cold War Season 5, so here are the attachments and perks to make the best Cold War AK-74u loadout class and dominate multiplayer lobbies.

The AK-74u is a hard-hitting, easy-to-control SMG in Black Ops Cold War Season 5. While recent nerfs have reigned it back from the long-range beast it once was, it’s still a popular choice amongst players of all skill levels.

Although it can no longer outgun Assault Rifles at range, it’s still one of the most versatile SMGs in the game, being much easier to control than the popular LC10 or PPSH-41.

Here’s everything you need to dominate with Cold War’s AK-74u, including the best attachments and perks.

Best Cold War AK-74u loadout class

  • Barrel: 10.3″ Task Force
  • Underbarrel: Spetsnaz Grip
  • Magazine: VDV 50 Round Fast Mag
  • Handle: GRU Elastic Wrap
  • Stock: KGB Skeletal Stock

The best Cold War AK-74u loadout class is built to speed and recoil control, allowing it to keep up with the faster guns in its category while allowing it to have more range.

To start, the 10.3″ Task Force barrel vastly improves the weapon’s damage and range but hits its accuracy slightly. To compensate for that, it’s worth running the Spetnaz Grip to keep recoil to a minimum.

Then, the VDV 50 Round Fast Mag allows you to take down multiple opponents, then quickly reload. It’s especially useful for pulling off flanks or defending an objective the enemies keep rushing.

And finally, for increased mobility, the GRU Elastic Wrap and KGB Skeletal Stock will allow for a fast sprint to fire time, aim down sight speed, and offers the ability to drop shot.

Best perks to run with Cold War AK-74u loadout

For this loadout we’ll be using the Perk Greed Wildcard so you can equip up to six perks.

  • Perk 1: Flak Jacket & Tactical Mask
  • Perk 2: Gear Head & Scavenger
  • Perk 3: Ghost & Ninja

For Perk 1, Flak Jacket and Tactical Mask will make you resistant to all Lethal and Tactical Equipment, so you’re ready for any situation.

Then, it would be best if you used the Scavenger to keep your ammo supply topped up, and Gear Head will allow you to replenish and carry an extra Field Upgrade quickly.

And finally, Ghost and Ninja will hide you from Spy Planes, Field Mics and keep your footsteps silent for quick flanks on the enemy.

How to unlock the AK-74u

Luckily, the AK-74u arrived with Black Ops Cold War’s launch, so there are no challenges needed to unlock it or a Battle Pass to grind.

All you have to do is hit Level 19 in Cold War or Warzone, and the AK-74u will be yours. This shouldn’t take you long, but concentrate on playing the objective and racking up Scorestreaks, and you’ll have it in no time to make the best Cold War AK-74u loadout class.

Best alternatives

PPSH black ops cold war

There are some great alternatives to the best Cold War AK-74u loadout class if you haven’t unlocked it yet, or fancy trying something different. The KSP-45 has been surprisingly effective since its recent buffs, and the PPSH-41 is hard to resist.

If you want something with more range, you could use the XM4 which has decent mobility for an Assault Rifle, while being an absolute laser beam at any range.

With these attachments and perks, you’re ready to dominate all matches of Cold War Season 4.
