Apex Legends Season 8 brought some of the biggest changes that the battle royale has seen in a while, including a reformed Kings Canyon, so we’ve listed all the new best landing spots.
Veteran Apex Legends fans will remember the map on Solace from when the game first launched on February 2019. This was the main setting for the battle royale during its early days, and now the devs have brought brand new map changes.to Kings Canyon.
The Season 8 update has added Explosive Holds filled with quality gear, along with a few new POIs. For this reason, you should pick where you decide to land very wisely, so we’ve listed the best new landing spots in the game.
Best landing spots in Apex Legends Season 8
Salvage took a spot in King’s Canyon after replacing the Skull Town and Thunderdome POIs that used to be there. It’s a great place to hunt for some top quality loot due its position near the new Mirage Voyage, as well as the Market and Gauntlet areas.

The only downside is that this location is often filled with players due to its close proximity to those other areas, so you’d better be ready for a fight. That said, we still recommend landing here if you want to collect some high tier gear.
Artillery is a major hotspot for players in Kings Canyon, and Season 8 hasn’t changed that in the slightest. This is because of the sheer amount of loot that is spread out across the area for you to collect.
While it’s not in close proximity of any other interesting POIs for you to rotate towards, it makes up for that by being well stocked, and that’s why it’s such a popular area for players to visit in the battle royale.
As the name implies, you’ll be able to get your hands on some top tier weapons, so quickly get in and then leave before other players start hunting you down.
This location is a new addition in Season 8, and has already become a common hotspot for Apex players to visit. This is because you can find three Explosive Holds nearby, along with a ton of other loot lying around the area.
Much like Salvage, this location is within close to other areas of interest, such as Artillery, Spotted Lake, and Containment. For this reason, it makes the list of the best landing spots in Apex Legends Season 8.
This area is situated in the North-Eastern section of the map, and it earned its place on this list due to its relatively low amount of player traffic. You head to the small two-story buildings in order to collect some loot.
We strongly recommend that you land here right away before it becomes too competitive, and start looting as quickly as you can before rotating towards any of the other nearby POIs, such as the Rig. You don’t want to find yourself stuck here when a gunfight starts.
Spotted Lake is another new addition to Apex Legends Season 8, so there’s a lot to discover when exploring this new area. It’s incredibly rich in terms of loot, and even has an Explosive Hold nearby for you to go through so be sure to collect some grenades to open it.
You’ll find no shortage of gear here, so expect other teams to also drop by in search of some high quality loot. While this isn’t one of the most crowded locations at the moment, you could still encounter a serious battle for the Explosive Hold.
That about covers all the best landing spots in Apex Legends Season 8. We hope that our guide has been useful to you, and you’ll agree with your picks after jumping into the battle royale.
The reformed map may seem intimidating at first, but that’s just extra incentive for you to explore and gear up. So get out there and see what Respawn Entertainment have waiting for you!

Confirmed Apex Legends Season 9 buffs and nerfs
Respawn Entertainment have confirmed and hinted at a few different buffs and nerfs for Apex Legends Season 9.
With Apex Legends Season 9 set to go live on May 4, we will go over all the buffs and nerfs that Respawn Entertainment have confirmed are in development for the next major update.
Respawn Entertainment introduced quite a few changes in the Apex Legends Chaos Theory update. Many Legends received different buffs and nerfs to help balance them, and they plan to bring more of these in the near future.
The devs apply buffs and nerfs to certain Legends so that the battle royale still feels fresh after a new update drops. They also let the fans know what they’re currently working through community updates, and here’s what they’ve confirmed for Apex Legends Season 9.
Confirmed Legend buffs and nerfs for Season 9
Respawn have talked about their planned changes for Season 9 on social media, and the Apex Legends subreddit. It can be difficult to keep track of every announcement, so we’ve decided to go over each of them here.
Keep in mind that these aren’t the only changes that will be in the Season 9 patch, as more can be confirmed or discussed later on. Once we learn more, we’ll be sure to update the article with new information.
Respawn have the following changes planned for Lifeline’s abilities in Season 9:
- Passive nerf
- Ultimate buff
Lifeline’s passive ability is notoriously difficult to play against, and even the developers have acknowledged this as being particularly “frustrating.” She can generate a shield wall in the direction she is facing, and heal her teammates.
That’s why this ability will get nerfed, her ultimate will receive a buff. So far, the devs haven’t clarified what exactly these changes will be, but they’ve confirmed that playtests are taking place.
Gibraltar’s Gun Shield will be nerfed in Season 9. Respawn stated that they will apply damage bleedthrough to this ability, so that the Legend will only be able to deflect a certain amount of attack damage.
The devs initially planned to introduce this nerf in the 8.1 update, but a few bugs popped up which led to it being delayed.
Fans of this Legend have been hoping that she’d get a major buff to her abilities soon, and that will finally be the case in Season 9.
Respawn have stated that they will focus on a few additions to Loba’s bracelet in the next update. This could be a fix for her broken jump drive, or perhaps they’ll make some other improvements to her kit.
One hurdle faced by players is her animation time when she enters or exits a portal. This leaves her vulnerable to enemy attacksa quicker animation time, making Loba less vulnerable when entering/exiting the teleport.
Horizon’s introduction in Apex Legends Season 7 was followed by her immense increase in popularity. She gained the reputation of being extremely difficult to defeat, which is why she was hit with some nerfs in the Chaos Theory update.
Respawn confirmed that they have more changes planned for her in the future. While they haven’t specified what other nerfs she’ll receive, Lead Game Designer Daniel Klein has given fans an update.
“We weren’t ready with the big nerf for Horizon,” he said. “So we shipped what he had first. Bigger nerf coming soon, hopefully S9, but no guarantees.”
Other rumored buffs and nerfs for Apex Legends Season 9
While these Legends haven’t been confirmed to be getting a buff yet, Respawn have expressed their interest in making some changes to them.
The devs have wanted to implement some improvements to Revenant for a while now, and have explained the difficult in doing so. They planned to change up his hitbox, but this is proving to be particuarly tricky.
Daniel Klein stated: “Revenant’s tactical ability is pretty reliable and hittable, so probably not a great candidate for more damage,” he elaborated.”
While we don’t know for sure if there will be any buff for Crypto in Season 9, Respawn have stated that they’re considering some possible improvements.
That covers all the buffs and nerfs that the developers have hinted at for next update. If more are announced of confirmed, then we’ll update this guide right away.
With Season 9 scheduled to start on May 4, so expect there to still be more news to come on Legend changes between now and then.

Apex Legends devs confirm more Horizon changes planned after Chaos Theory nerfs
Horizon received a major nerf in the Apex Legends Chaos Theory update, and the devs have a few more plans for her.
The Apex Legends Chaos Theory update nerfed Horizon’s ultimate ability, and it seems that the developers aren’t done yet. Respawn are planning additional changes for her Gravity Lift.
Horizon immediately rose in popularity after her introduction in Apex Legends Season 7. Her abilities have earned her a huge record of wins, which is why she was hit with some nerfs in the Apex Legends Chaos Theory update.
The biggest change was a longer cooldown on her Black Hole ultimate, up from two minutes to three. Now, Apex fans are demanding that Respawn also make some changes to her Gravity Lift. The devs haven’t forgotten this, and have a few more plans for the Legend.
Horizon is leading the Apex Legends meta in Season 8, and Respawn are planning to bring get her back in line through more nerfs. This time, they will focus on on her Gravity Lift tactical ability.
Lead game designer Daniel Klein explained on Reddit that changing her tactical was something they’d considered, but they were unable to do it in the latest update due to time constraints.
“We just didn’t have the time to do what we need to do to her tactical,” said the dev. “[In my opinion] the problem is you can jump in, take a full bat, and strafe while doing so making you almost impossible to punish. That’ll change, but the proper way to do that takes a little time.”
He made it clear that Horizon’s ultimate isn’t her biggest draw, but they were able to prepare the nerf in time for this patch.
“Her ult is definitely not the bigger problem. That was just the change that was ready for 8.1. Her tactical is absolutely the bigger problem, but the nerf for that wasn’t ready in time for this patch,” Klein added.
This means that we can expect more changes for Horizon in Season 9. It’s not clear what exactly these will be but we’ll keep checking for updates. Once we learn something new, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Apex Legends fans spot new weapon class in dev’s Chaos Theory stream
A live dev stream of Apex Legends Season 8 appeared to reveal a new weapon class that could be headed for the battle royale game.
New evidence from a Respawn Entertainment dev’s stream suggests that Apex Legends could be set to add a new weapon class to the battle royale shooter.
Apex Legends already contains a large pool of weapons, ammo types, and attachments. Now it seems that pool is set to be expanded upon as a new potential class has been spotted in a live stream showcase for the upcoming Chaos Theory Event.
During one point of the stream, observant viewers noticed a “Marksman” tag underneath the 3x HCOG ‘Ranger’ optic. There have been rumors and murmurs about the devs looking to introduce a whole new class to the game that separates itself from anything else, and this could indicate that.
The roster of different weapons in Apex Legends includes: Assault Rifles, Submachine Guns, Light Machine Guns, Shotguns, Pistols, and Sniper Rifles. It’s about as standard and as-to-be-expected as classes come in an FPS game.
However, a new Marksman class seems like it will bridge the gap between Sniper Rifles and any other weapon. It’s also not the first time that the devs have discussed the possibility of new gear, as they recently addressed the possibility of Titanfall weapons coming to Apex Legends.
If you skip ahead to 21:34 in the dev stream video, you will be able to take a glimpse of the possible new class yourself.
Time stamp 21:34
It’s unclear whether or not this was intentional and Respawn Entertainment intended for players to see the Marksman label or not.
The sighting has gained some momentum now as Reddit user Redminn19 was also tuned into the stream, posting the evidence for all to see.
Given that we’re already so far into Apex Legends Season 8, it’s probably safe to assume that we won’t be seeing the Marksman class anytime soon.
It’s likely Respawn has enough on their plate at the moment with testing for the Nintendo Switch version going on.
