Best CARV.2 loadout for CoD: Cold War Season 3
The burst rifle meta is back with the CARV.2. The newly-added gun looks to unseat the AUG and M16 as the king of Black Ops Cold War, and here’s the best loadout for it with perks and attachments.
After a sustained period of dominance, burst weapons were recently nerfed and have dented the usability of Tactical Rifles in Call of Duty.
Both Cold War and Warzone have seen the likes of the M16 and AUG suffer as a result, but the CARV.2 is a mean rebel that wants to restore the class’s integrity.
Here’s how to make a powerful, laser-precise CARV.2 class in Black Ops Cold War Season 3.
Best CARV.2 attachments for Cold War Season 3
- Optic: Axial Arms 3x
- Muzzle: Infantry Compensator
- Barrel: 22.5″ Task Force
- Underbarrel: Field Agent Foregrip
- Handle: Airborne Elastic Wrap
We’re gonna swap out Cold War’s CARV’s decent iron sights for our old favorite, the Axial Arms 3x optic for increased magnification. Next up is the Infantry Compensator as the burst nature of the spread sends the gun upwards, so reducing vertical recoil is key.

Now, we’ve opted for the 22.5″ Task Force barrel as even though it comes at the detriment of accuracy, the nerfing of burst weapons is negated slightly by the power of this barrel.
We’re normally a big advocate of the Field Agent Foregrip, but it’s even more crucial here to restore some of the accuracy sacrificed by the barrel. Finishing off our CARV.2 loadout is the Airborne Elastic Wrap as it’s a must for ADS and flinch resistance, giving you an edge in a 1v1.
Best perks to run with the CARV.2 in Cold War Season 3
We’ve opted for the Perk Greed Wildcard, meaning you get an additional perk for each slot.
- Perk 1: Flak Jacket, Paranoia
- Perk 2: Assassin, Quartermaster
- Perk 3: Ghost, Gung-Ho
Flak Jacket is still the undisputed king of perks as it basically gives you an impenetrable shield. The CARV.2 is less of a run and gun weapon, so we just want to be more aware of our surroundings with Paranoia.
We’re confident that kills will come easy with the CARV.2, so equip Assassin for more points, and use Quartermaster to drop more Gas Mines.
Finally, Ghost is great for keeping you quiet, and Gung-Ho is perfect for quickly switching to another weapon for close-range encounters.
How to unlock the CARV.2 in Cold War Season 3
As with most new weapons, there is a certain challenge requirement that needs to be fulfilled first.
To unlock the CARV.2 you’ll need to either:
- “Using Tactical Rifles, rapidly kill 2 or more players in 10 different completed matches” in Cold War or Warzone’s multiplayer.
- “Using Tactical Rifles, get 250 Longshot kills” in Zombies.
Best alternatives to Cold War’s CARV.2
