The Ultimate Team Web App is set to launch on September 21, so now is the ideal time to start building your FIFA 23 starter squad. The goal of a starter squad is to build a budget team that doesn’t cost a ton of coins, but one that can ultimately produce results on the pitch.

This guide is more important than ever this year, given the changes to Ultimate Team chemistry in FIFA 23. It’s likely going to take a few days before players get to grips with EA‘s new system and start building their squads, so our starter squad can facilitate the process.

We’ve gone with the ever-popular 4-3-3 formation and focused on building the team around Premier League and Serie A players. In FIFA 23, these two leagues carry some of the best meta players.

Using players from these leagues to create a starter squad will allow for a smooth transition as you begin to pack top-rated Premier League and Serie A players.

FIFA 23 Ultimate Team starter squad

You’ll need two position modifier items to build this starter squad in FIFA 23 as you look to swap Sergino Dest from a RB to a LB, and Denis Zakaria from a CDM to a CM. Kalulu and Saliba will form the heart of your defense and their above-average pace and defending should be difficult to penetrate.

All three of your midfielders are extremely well-rounded, and while they don’t excel in any given category, their lack of weaknesses will not leave you exposed. Lozano and Pulisic will look to create chances from their positions out wide by utilizing their pace and dribbling.

Of course, a starter squad is not perfect and will come with its weaknesses. In this instance, none of the eleven players boast a shooting stat above 80. Instead of scoring miraculous goals from a distance, this squad will rely on your ability to be in the right place at the right time to create scoring chances.

The first upgrade you should look to make is at striker. Once you accumulate enough coins, Darwin Nunez, Gabriel Jesus, and Goncalo Guedes should all prove worthy replacements for Martial.
