Best GTA Online Career: How to use Career Builder
Career Builder is the perfect way for new players to get their GTA Online journey off to a good start, but which path should you take? Here’s the best GTA Online Career and how to get started.
The next-gen version of GTA Online is here, and long-time players are enjoying the definitive version of the nine-year-old money printing machine. While many fans will be picking up where they left off on older hardware, this will be the first trip to Los Santos for plenty of PS5 and Xbox Series owners.
After nearly a decade worth of updates, being let loose on the sprawling multiplayer mode is a daunting prospect, so Rockstar have brought in the Career Builder to give new aspiring crime bosses a much-needed foothold in the early hours.
But how do you use the Career builder, and which is the best path to take? We’ve got you covered right here.
How to use GTA Online Career Builder
If you’re a new player to GTA Online, as soon as you boot up the game you’ll be met with the option to choose from four different Careers. These are:
- Biker
- Executive
- Gunrunner
- Nightclub Owner
You’ll then be immediately awarded $4 million to invest in items that will help you prosper in that sector, including properties, vehicles, and weapons. Any spare cash lingering around after you’re satisfied with your purchases will be carried over into the main game – up to $1 million that is.
The idea is to curb some of that early game grind and give players ways of making money right off the bat, instead of having to invest hours of time to catch up to the rest of the community.
After you’ve selected the Career that sounds most enticing, you’ll be thrown into a series of introductory missions and given more upgrades to work towards. These extra upgrade paths are fairly pricey, but they offer some welcome structure to your first few hours in the game.
GTA Online Career Builder paths
As mentioned earlier, there are four different Careers to choose from, so here’s a quick breakdown of each one if you’re struggling to make a choice:
Biker
The Biker path places you in charge of your own formidable biker gang, complete with a Clubhouse. From there you’ll have the chance to get stuck into a number of illegal businesses.
Unfortunately, even though living out the ultimate Sons of Anarchy fantasy looks and sounds appealing, it isn’t the most lucrative option here.
Executive
If you go for the Executive Career, you’ll be set up with a shiny new office, as well as the choice of warehouses to store valuables in.
This is a solid option that has the potential to make players filthy rich once they gain access to the more expensive upgrades.
We’d recommend setting up shop at Maze Bank West Office thanks to its prime location in the heart of Los Santos.
Gunrunner
If you’re looking for something more covert, becoming a Gunrunner hands players a discrete bunker to hide out in.
The main perk here is that bunkers earn a steady flow of cash without the need for player input, and stealing or buying supplies will only boost your income.
If your ultimate goal is saving up for the incredibly rewarding Cayo Perico Heist, then this is the Career to do it.
Nightclub Owner
Arguably the most glamorous option, this Career puts players in control of their very own nightclub, which they can use as a front for illegal cash flows.
Being a Nightclub Owner also rewards you with a passive income, and the special missions are some of the most fun out of all four choices.
Sadly, however, this is easily the least lucrative Career, so we recommend you avoid it if the main goal is to rack up the cash.
Best GTA Online Career
Money makes Los Santos go round, so we recommend selecting the Gunrunner Career to maximize your profits when you’re just starting out. It may not seem as lavish as the Nightclub Owner or Executive paths, but setting up a bunker earns plenty of money passively and doesn’t need as much micromanagement.

In terms of location, the Chumash Bunker is a good starting point. It’s a relatively cheap option found on the West-side of the map, with easy access to all of the main areas.
Then, you’ll want to purchase Bunker Upgrade Pack A to unlock the Equipment Upgrade and Staff Upgrade. Altogether this will set you back just over $3 million of the allotted cash, so you have some spare to take into the game with you.
