Sledgehammer Games has stacked Call of Duty: Vanguard with a ton of incredible weapons for players to use, and we’ve gone through and ranked every Vanguard gun, as well as ranked the top 10 weapons in the game.

At the end of the day, all guns in CoD Vanguard have one job, to take down opposition players as efficiently as possible. Sledgehammer Games have done their best to make this possible by giving players a wealth of options to choose from.

From devastating Assault Rifles to speedy SMGs, there is pretty much something for everyone in Call of Duty: Vanguard, and we’ve taken it upon ourselves to go through the game’s weaponry and rank every gun in the game.

Best guns in Call of Duty: Vanguard ranked list

Before we deliver an in-depth look at our top 10 Vanguard weapons ranked list, we will first quickly assign a position to all of the game’s current guns. As always, some guns are going to be meta monsters used by everyone, and some will be left to gather heaps of dust.

Here’s every main weapon in Vanguard ranked:

  1. Automaton

CoD: Vanguard best guns ranked

10. DP27 – Best LMG in CoD Vanguard

The Pizza Gun or the UFO, or whatever you want to call it, is a unique-looking LMG that packs a lot in its frame. Whilst the MG42 has a better fire rate and a much bigger clip, the DP27 hits a lot harder, retains most of the same accuracy, and just feels like a better LMG.

9. G-43 – Best Marksman Rifle in CoD Vanguard

Semi-Auto Rifles have always been a thing in the Call of Duty franchise with the G3 lighting up Call of Duty 4, and most recently the DMR becoming popular in Cold War and Warzone.

The G-43 takes the crown in Vanguard as it’s so accurate that you can’t help but love it. It’s one of those amazing weapons that excels in its default form, but once you start putting attachments on it, the G-43 really starts to take shape.

8. ITRA Burst

A customary Call of Duty burst gun is up next and the ITRA Burst offers up an interesting dilemma compared to recent years – due to how many bullets it fires.

Traditionally, burst weapons in the series hammer out strings of 3 bullets in quick-fire spurts, but the ITRA Burst tears up the rule book and fires 4 bullets at a time with its standard 20-round mag. Basic maths shows that this is a very risk and reward weapon to use, but if you use it correctly, the ITRA Burst is very effective.

Check out our best ITRA Burst loadout.

7. Combat Shotgun – Best Shotgun in CoD vanguard

You could argue that some of Vanguard’s maps were basically made for the Combat Shotgun, and you really should as you can have a lot of fun with it.

It boasts some admirable range, a decent fire rate for a pump-action Shotgun, and as with any Shotgun, it hits harder than a herd of stampeding bulls. If you’re not crazy about running the Combat Shotgun as a Primary weapon, then it would be a great Secondary with the Overkill Perk equipped.

6. Kar98k – Best Sniper Rifle in CoD Vanguard

A weapon that will be familiar to many that have dabbled in Warzone at some point, the Kar98k is the go-to Sniper Rifle of choice for many, and the same will probably apply to Vanguard too.

The key to the Kar98k’s unbelievable success is its speed as its ADS time is terrific for such a long-range weapon, and it can near enough one-hit anybody. As long as you have an Ammo Box or extra ammo with you, then Vanguard offers a great deal more Sniper-friendly maps for you to go crazy.

Check out our best Kar98k loadout.

5. Volkssturmgewehr

The Volkssturmgewehr, or Volk for short, is one of a few guns that sacrifices accuracy for speed – a lot of it.

Its base stats already have the gun’s fire rate at a high level, especially in comparison to some battering-ram Assault Rifles. But the gun positively flourished in the Vanguard Beta and Sledgehammer Games have seen no reason to tinker with this finely balanced firearm.

Check out our best Volk loadout.

4. Type 100

The Type 100 is a ton of fun to use as it’s a very solid weapon, and also has the potential to become even better than it already is.

As shown by Call of Duty streamers, the Type 100 can become a two-shot beast, and some players already feel it’s the best SMG in Vanguard. Unless you’re using the game’s best attachments, we don’t feel it quite boasts the firepower that our best SMG does, we’ll come onto it shortly, but if you use it enough, then it might well be the best for you.

3. MP-40 – Best SMG in CoD Vanguard

No, you are reading this correctly, the MP-40 is not in our top two, and we’ll come onto that shortly. But the MP-40 is well-deserving of its third-place spot as it has all the necessary characteristics to make it the best SMG in the game.

It’s had a reputation for being unstoppable in previous Call of Duty games – looking at you World at War – and it retains this identity with ease in Vanguard. Very accurate, even over long distances, and if you manage to unlock and equip the extended magazine, then it can go fire for even longer in crucial fights.

Check out our best MP-40 loadout.

2. STG44

The STG44 only makes it to number two on our ranked list, and it’s very worthy of its spot, as most Call of Duty: Vanguard players will attest to.

Most lobbies will usually have at least half the players using some form of STG44 loadout as it’s an incredible Assault Rifle. It has everything you need from an AR: superb damage range, awesome recoil control, and enough stopping power to make the enemy team cry. It’s a pretty much flawless gun. But why isn’t it first on our list?

Check out our best STG44 loadout.

1. Automaton – Best Assault Rifle in CoD Vanguard

Because the Automaton AR has all of the STG’s qualities with the extra quality of being a tiny bit faster. Sleep on this gun at your own peril, the Automaton is so vastly underrated and isn’t given a chance by many.

One of its redeeming traits is its easy-to-learn recoil pattern as even without attachments it basically goes up a tiny bit in a straight line. It’s very easy to use, very easy to score a ton of kills with, and for our money is the best weapon to use in Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Check out our best Automaton loadout.

That covers our extensive look at every weapon in Vanguard with a full ranking of them all. Even though there are nearly 40 guns in the game already, we expect Sledgehammer Games to keep adding more as the seasons go by.

Warzone Pacific & Vanguard Season 2 officially delayed

Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Pacific Season 2 has officially been delayed after devs share community update.

It seems the Call of Duty devs have got a lot on their plate at the moment, causing them to delay the release of Warzone Pacific & Vanguard Season 2.

Warzone & Vanguard have had a lot of updates over the past couple of weeks, including the mid-season patch which looked to solve a lot of the game’s performance issues.

Despite improvements and better communication from the devs when it comes to sharing what they’re working on, Season 2 has been officially delayed to give them more time to work on fixes.

Call of Duty announced over on Twitter that Season 2 of Warzone and Vanguard has officially been delayed from the February 1 released date to February 14.

With all the crazy news coming out recently regarding Microsoft’s plans to purchase Activision, which includes Call of Duty, this probably won’t come as much of a shock to the community, especially given all the current performance issues.

While the devs recognize that they have “deployed a number of updates” recently to fix the issues, including a fix for the freezing Buy Station bug, they also recognize “that more needs to be done.”

The main reason for Season 2 of Warzone and Vanguard being delayed is in order for the devs to continue improving the gameplay experience. Many players will likely be happy that the season is being delayed, as another big update to the game might just cause even more issues and further frustration.

As more information is released regarding Season 2 of Vanguard and Warzone Pacific, we’ll be sure to cover it. For now, check out how much money Warzone makes.

Vanguard has carried on Call of Duty’s live service approach to content, bringing new maps, weapons, and Operators with seasonal updates. Season 1 has received its mid-season update, so players are looking forward to what’s arriving in Season 2.

Here’s everything we know about Vanguard Season 2, including its start date, expected content, and what Treyarch has in store for Zombies.

Vanguard Season 1 end date

Vanguard Season 1’s mid-season update is live, with the season set to end on February 14, 2022 after a delay was announced via the Call of Duty Twitter account.

As of now, it remains to be seen if the delay will push the Season 1 Battle Pass expiry date to February 14 but we’ll be sure to update this section when we have more information.

Vanguard Season 2 release date & time

Following the announcement of a slight delay, Vanguard Season 2 is expected to begin on February 14 as opposed to February 1.

Significant Call of Duty updates usually arrive at 9 PM PT / 12 AM ET / 5 AM GMT, but Sledgehammer Games should provide an exact time nearer the date.

What’s included in Vanguard Season 2?

Sledgehammer Games haven’t announced everything they have in store for Season 2 yet, but we can take an educated guess based on previous seasons’ content.

  • New weapons
  • New Operators
  • New & remastered maps
  • New & returning game modes
  • Themed-event with challenges & rewards
  • Balance tweaks & bug fixes
  • Zombies updates

This is all just speculation, but previous seasons have included this content in one form or another, so we expect Vanguard Season 2 to be no different.

But stay tuned to charlieINTEL, as Sledgehammer will release their roadmap in the coming weeks.

Vanguard Season 2 Zombies content

Vanguard’s Zombies mode has been slammed by the community for its lack of classic features, but developers Treyarch provided an update ahead of the mid-Season 1 update.

They revealed that they’ll finally bring the Main Quest Easter Egg in Season 2, add “multiple Wonder Weapons,” and bring players to “the Dark Aether itself in a completely original location crafted for Vanguard Zombies.”

Here’s everything Treyarch teased for Vanguard Zombies Season 2:

  • New hub map
  • Dark Aether-themed map
  • Multiple Wonder Weapons
  • New Dark Aether entity
  • New enemy type
  • New Objective gameplay

Also, Treyarch announced that the highly sought-after Pause Feature would arrive “soon,” perhaps in the Season 2 update.

How to fix Vanguard’s “right stick not working” glitch

Here’s how you can quickly fix the CoD: Vanguard glitch that causes the right stick to stop working on your controller.

A major Call of Duty: Vanguard glitch is causing the right stick to completely stop working mid-game for controller players, but thankfully, there is a way you can quickly fix it.

Vanguard players have had to deal with their fair share of bugs and glitches. These all have different effects on the game, such as making the High Alert perk stronger despite receiving a nerf, or letting players levitate.

Now, players that use controllers are encountering a new issue that causes the right stick to stop working. This leaves them with nothing to do but to keep running straight ahead, putting them at a serious disadvantage with no ability to aim.

Here’s how you can get around this Vanguard glitch.

Vanguard’s “right stick not working” glitch

The right stick glitch occurs when CoD: Vanguard automatically changes your input settings from controller to mouse and keyboard. This causes your controller to disconnect mid-game.

Once the controller reconnects, the right stick stops working entirely. This prevents you from looking around and aiming. Instead, all you’ll be able to do is keep running forward and shooting.

How to fix Vanguard’s “right stick not working” glitch

The first way to get around this glitch is to hit right on your controller’s D-pad. This button helps the game detect that the player is using a controller to play instead of a mouse and keyboard.

If this doesn’t work, then there are other methods that you can try out. Some players have reported that the right stick issue gets fixed after getting killed. This can ruin the match, but you’ll regain control of your Operator.

The final method that you can try out is to turn off the game altogether. Booting CoD: Vanguard back up will cause your controller to function properly again. You should also make sure that your controller is fully charged.
