Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has a varied arsenal of weapons, so we’ve ranked them all in a tier list and counted down the top 10.

Best weapons in Call of Duty Modern Warfare

Modern Warfare remains a popular choice for Call of Duty fans, so we’ve placed every weapon in the game into a tier list, and counted down the top 10.

Thanks to its joint progression system between Warzone and Cold War, Modern Warfare has stayed active long after its content cycle ended. We’re only months away from CoD: Vanguard, but many players are still jumping into 2019’s Modern Warfare title.

Even though it’s no longer receiving dedicated seasons, Modern Warfare has received new maps and weapons such as the CX-9 and RAAL MG, which have expanded the already diverse arsenal of weaponry.

Some weapons are always more powerful than others, so we’ve ranked every Modern Warfare weapon and counted down the top 10.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare: Weapons tier list

Modern Warfare players have a ton of weapons at their disposal, with the Gunsmith system allowing players to completely transform them into something new. Before we count down the top 10 weapons, we’ve placed every Modern Warfare weapon into a tier list.

We should also note that these are the best weapons in Core Modern Warfare, as Hardcore completely changes the weapon balancing.

S-Tier: M4A1, Grau 5.56, AS VAL, MP5, MP7, SP-R 208, MK2 Carbine, Sykov
A-Tier: PKM, R9-0 Shotgun, Renetti, Kar98k, Kilo 141, 725, AX-50, Kali Sticks
B-Tier: Origin 12 Shotgun, M13, HDR, RAM-7, CX-9, Riot Shield, AK-47, FAL, AUG, AN-94, RAAL MG, Oden, JAK-12, Holger-26, 50 GS, RPG-7, Strela-P, JOKR, SKS, FN Scar 17
C-Tier: CR-56 AMAX, Fennec, Bruen Mk9, PP19 Bizon, FiNN LMG, Uzi, ISO, Model 680, M91, SA87, Striker 45, M19, X16, 357, Dual Kodachis, Combat Knife
D-Tier: EBR-14, P90, Crossbow, VLK Rogue, FR 5.56, Rytec AMR, Pila, 1911, MG34
F-Tier: Dragunov

S-Tier weapons are the meta in Modern Warfare – the best of the best. Weapons in A-tier are incredibly strong and extremely viable and can be just as effective as those in S-Tier if used right.

B-Tier guns are useable, and very viable if built right and used in the right circumstances, whereas C-Tier weapons would only need some buffs to increase their popularity.

D-Tier weapons are ineffective, but you can try them out and have some fun with them, while F-Tier guns shouldn’t be in your loadout at all.

Best weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

10. PKM – Best LMG in Modern Warfare

Modern Warfare PKM

LMGs have always had a place in Call of Duty multiplayer, utilizing their massive magazines to repeatedly take down the competition without ever having to reload.

For Modern Warfare, the PKM is the LMG you want at your side. Possessing the firepower and magazine size that make LMGs great, the PKM can be built to be a speedy option that doesn’t limit you to holding down lanes while mounted.

9. R-90 – Best Shotgun in Modern Warfare

Modern Warfare R9-0 Shotgun

Many Modern Warfare and Warzone players know the power of the “Doof Doof” R-90 Shotgun. Fitted with Dragon’s Breath rounds, the R-90 becomes an absolute monster at close range.

Even if a player manages to get away from the devastating firepower of the R-90, the fire shells will continue to tick away at their health.

8. MK2 Carbine

Modern Warfare MK2 Carbine

If you’re looking for something that’s a solid hybrid between quickscoping and traditional sniping, the MK2 Carbine is a great choice. This lever-action Marksman Rifle is perfect for both the chaos of Shoot the Ship and the more tactical nature of Search and Destroy.

Although slower than the Kar98k and SPR-208, its ability to one-hit chest-shot makes it extremely forgiving.

7. Sykov – Best Pistol in Modern Warfare

Modern Warfare Sykov Pistol

For a secondary weapon, there’s nothing better than the Sykov. This Pistol arrived long after Modern Warfare’s lifecycle ended, but instantly made an impact in both multiplayer and Warzone.

The Sykov is a full-auto Pistol with 80 Round Drum mags that can be dual-wielded. This allows it to put down an incredible amount of firepower, being more effective than many SMGs and Shotguns at close range. However, its damage quickly falls off.

6. Grau 5.56

Modern Warfare Grau 5.56

With the cleanest Iron Sights of any weapon in the game, the Grau 5.56 is an accurate and powerful choice in Modern Warfare’s multiplayer. If you’re looking to beam enemies across the map with pinpoint accuracy, you can’t go wrong with the Grau.

It can also be converted into an SMG thanks to the Gunsmith system, so can effectively suit almost any playstyle.

5. MP7

Modern Warfare MP7

The MP7 takes fifth place on our list of the best Modern Warfare weapons thanks to its high fire rate and low recoil. If you’re more of a flexible player who likes to take fights at all ranges in a single game, then the MP7 is perfect for you.

Although it will lose out to some other SMGs and Shotguns at close range, it has much more range potential. With an easy-to-control recoil pattern and fast fire rate, you’ll be able to challenge players at medium range with ease.

4. MP5 – Best SMG in Modern Warfare

Modern Warfare MP5

The MP5 has long been the best SMG in Modern Warfare. Although it doesn’t have the fire rate of some of the other SMGs, it’s extremely effective in the confines of Modern Warfare’s maps.

If you want to get around the map with speed and accuracy, the MP5 is the weapon for you. It doesn’t quite have the range potential of the MP7, but at close range, it will win the head-to-head fight almost every time.

3. SPR-208 – Best Marksman Rifle in Modern Warfare

Modern Warfare SPR-208

Quickscoping has long been a staple of Call of Duty, and the SPR-208 is designed to do just that. The SPR-208 is another Marksman Rifle and is the perfect weapon for quickscoping. Although it has a slightly slower ADS speed than the Kar98k, its bolt time, damage, and magazine size make for a more rounded weapon.

2. AS VAL

Modern Warfare AS VAL

A dominant weapon in both Warzone and Modern Warfare, the AS VAL takes second place on our list. Although only having 30 rounds in a mag, this lightweight Assault Rifle simply tears through enemies with its extremely low time to kill.

If you’re taking one-on-one fights in Search and Destroy, for example, the enemy won’t stand a chance against the AS VAL. The only thing holding it back slightly is recoil and small magazine size, but for an SMG/AR hybrid, the AS VAL is perfect.

1. M4A1- Best Assault Rifle in Modern Warfare

Modern Warfare M4A1

This will come as no surprise to anyone who has played Modern Warfare. The M4A1 is an all-rounder that excels in every situation, making it the best gun in Modern Warfare.

With clean Iron Sights, minimal recoil, and great mobility, the M4A1 suits any playstyle. You can build it for either close-range combat in multiplayer or for long-range beaming in Ground War, and you’ll have a ton of success with this classic Call of Duty Assault Rifle.

And those are the top 10 weapons you can use in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare! Be sure to check out the best weapons that Black Ops Cold War and Warzone have to offer too.

CoD devs confirm “unplayable” Modern Warfare is finally going to get fixed

Modern Warfare was branded “unplayable” after the Warzone Pacific update broke the game, but Call of Duty devs have now promised fixes.

Although two years old, Modern Warfare still has a dedicated player base who were furious after December 8’s Warzone Pacific update made the game “unplayable” for many. A month later, CoD’s developers have finally confirmed they’re working on fixing it.

Call of Duty: Warzone is still tied to Modern Warfare so, whatever happens in Warzone, affects Modern Warfare. This has caused several issues in the past, with players unable to change their loadout mid-game and the FMJ Perk being broken.

It appeared to only get worse with the Warzone Pacific Season 1 update which completely broke Modern Warfare. It was labeled “literally unplayable” as players were suffering a plethora of bugs and crashes, and some couldn’t even launch the game.

Call of Duty’s developers have finally acknowledged the issues and confirmed they’re working on fixing them.

Modern Warfare players have been complaining that Modern Warfare is completely broken since the new Warzone map arrived. They’ve said that they can’t complete a match because of disconnects and crashes, and missing data packs are stopping some from launching the game entirely.

Raven Software hadn’t acknowledged the issues, and Modern Warfare players were worried they’d been left out to dry. But, Call of Duty’s devs have now addressed the concerns.

“Our teams are hard at work addressing the issues that are being experienced across Vanguard, Warzone, and Modern Warfare,” tweeted the Call of Duty account on January 13, 2022.

They said that “updates are being deployed as quickly as possible” but gave no timeframe for Modern Warfare’s fixes being implemented.

Many players were delighted that their complaints had finally been acknowledged, but said “actions speak louder than words” and other statements to that effect.

We’ll just need to wait and see how and when Call of Duty plans to fix Modern Warfare’s serious issues. They also recommend you follow Infinity Ward’s account, so perhaps these updates will come from Infinity Ward.

There’s a ton of anticipation for Modern Warfare 2, and here’s everything that we know about Call of Duty 2022 so far, including the release date, a new mode called DMZ, and the game’s platforms.

Call of Duty fans are always eager to learn more about the next big title that will be released, and there is plenty of anticipation for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2. Information about the game is scarce but we do have some news to share.

While the developers haven’t revealed anything about Call of Duty 2022, we’ve been able to find out details like the release date, new game modes, platforms, and some interesting leaks.

Here’s everything we know about Call of Duty 2022.

What is Call of Duty 2022’s title?

CoD MW2 2022

According to a leak from insider Tom Henderson, the name of the 2022 Call of Duty game will be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.

This information lines up with what Charlie INTEL has also heard about the 2022 Call of Duty game, although we’d caution that Activision can change the name at any point leading to the reveal.

Call of Duty 2022: Modern Warfare 2 release date

Modern Warfare operators

At the time of writing, it’s believed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be arriving sometime around November 2022. However, there is no exact release date confirmed for the game yet.

Going by Activision’s record, most previous titles in this popular franchise were released between October and November, so we expect to see Call of Duty 2022 come around the same time.

We’ll keep checking for any official release date announcements by the developers and will be sure to update this article once we have more concrete information.

Call of Duty 2022: Modern Warfare 2 maps

terminal map from modern warfare 2

Both leakers RalphsValve and Tom Henderson claim that classic Modern Warfare 2 (2009) maps will arrive in CoD 2022.

In a video covering everything known about CoD 2022 so far, Henderson said that these maps have been taken from the scrapped Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, of which only the campaign released.

RalphsValve leaked five maps that players can expect to see in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. These are some of the most popular ones in the entire series and we might see them return.

Here are the returning Modern Warfare 2 maps:

  • Favela
  • Highrise
  • Shipment
  • Terminal
  • Quarry

Favela would pit players against each other in enclosed areas while Terminal provided some excellent sniping opportunities to Call of Duty players during long-range combat situations.

Highrise led to tons of 360, no-scope montages and birthed several world-famous CoD clans and Shipment is so popular that it’s currently still featured in titles like Call of Duty: Vanguard.

However, these are currently just leaks, and we might see the addition of entirely different maps in the final game once it arrives.

Call of Duty 2022 Warzone integration

Warzone operator running in Pacific Caldera

Call of Duty 2022 will integrate with Warzone in the same way that Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard has, but is expected to bring a brand-new map.

Cold War brought Rebirth Island with its integration and later gave Verdansk an overhaul into Verdansk ’84. Vanguard’s integration, however, brought Caldera – an entirely new battle royale map.

Alongside the leaked DMZ mode for Modern Warfare 2, VGC claimed that CoD 2022 will launch with a brand-new Warzone map consisting of classic maps from the Modern Warfare franchise. This map will reportedly also be used for the DMZ mode.

The integration should also bring across all of CoD 2022’s weapons.

DMZ

Tom Henderson claims that Modern Warfare 2 will come with a brand-new game mode – DMZ. While we don’t know exactly what the game mode will entail, the leaker described this mode as “MWII’s take on Escape From Tarkov.”

Henderson believes the mode will have been in development for over four years by the time Modern Warfare 2 releases, and you’ll drop into several locations and will have to plunder through abandoned homes, buildings, vehicles, crates, and corpses. He also said that the area has been made up of maps from the original MW2 which act as POIs, and should also act as the new Warzone map.

From this description, it seems that DMZ will be one of the most grounded game modes in the upcoming title. Hopefully, it will make for an intense experience for Call of Duty 2022 players.

Attackers v. Defenders

Leaker RalphsValve has also claimed that MW2 will feature a Rainbow Six Siege-inspired mode called Attackers v. Defenders. However, leakers such as Tom Henderson have disputed the claim.

This mode will see players attack and defend objective sites while utilizing “hidden locations, booby traps and cameras.”

Attackers v. Defenders would have a revamped health system, and players are able to assign each of their squad members separate roles such as “Squad Leader.”

However, prominent CoD leakers TheMW2Ghost and Tom Henderson claim their sources say “it was a scrapped mode from MW19 and they haven’t heard or seen anything regarding it coming to MW II.”

Henderson did clarify that “It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not coming, but I’m inclined to believe people working on the project/or with very good connections at the studio.”

These two modes are only leaks or rumors at this point, so have yet to be confirmed. We’ll be sure to update this article as soon as we learn some more official information about Modern Warfare 2’s game modes.

Call of Duty 2022: Modern Warfare 2 platforms

According to Henderson, Modern Warfare 2 will be available on both current-gen and past-generation consoles.

Both Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard are cross-gen Call of Duty titles, and these leaks suggest that Modern Warfare 2 will continue this trend. However, it may be the last one to do so.

“It’s currently believed that this will be the last Call of Duty coming to past generation consoles, but it will ultimately depend on the console market conditions,” Tom Henderson tweeted.

Call of Duty 2022: Modern Warfare 2 campaign leaks

Back in September, individuals on Reddit and Medium blog noticed a back-end server opening into NVIDIA’s GeForce technology site that let them see the games being tested out on their servers.

One of the games by Activision and Infinity Ward was listed as “Project Cortez,” which is a possible codename for Modern Warfare 2. After this, some new potential plot details for Call of Duty 2022 were shared by VGC.

According to the leak, “Modern Warfare’s sequel will include a campaign involving US special forces fighting a covert war against Columbian drug cartels.” This was also backed up by Tom Henderson.

Henderson has also said that the AI will see significant improvements from previous CoD games, where they’ll act realistically to getting shot.

Ghost in Modern Warfare

It’s worth keeping in mind that these are currently just leaks, and this information has yet to be verified by the developers themselves. Until they officially announce something, you should take this with a grain of salt.

Modern Warfare 2 leaks claim Rainbow Six Siege mode arrives in CoD 2022

According to leaks, 2022’s Modern Warfare will bring a Rainbow Six Siege-inspired mode called “Attackers v. Defenders.”

Published

on

Modern Warfare Operator and Sledge from Rainbow Six Siege

Leaks claim that Call of Duty 2022, set to be Modern Warfare 2, will feature a Rainbow Six Siege-inspired game mode where players must attack and defend utilizing “hidden locations, booby traps and cameras.” However, other leakers have now disputed this claim.

Although Vanguard is still in its first season of content, players are desperate to see what Infinite Ward are cooking up for Call of Duty 2022. It’s set to be a successor to Modern Warfare (2019) and will take the FPS franchise back to the modern day.

It’s already believed to have an Escape from Tarkov-inspired mode, but new leaks have claimed that it’ll also feature Rainbow Six Siege’s popular attacking and defending mode.

Modern Warfare Operators breaching door

According to CoD leaker RalphsValve, Modern Warfare 2 will feature a multiplayer mode called ‘Attackers v. Defender,’ which appears to take heavy inspiration from Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege.

While RalphsValve believes this mode will arrive in Modern Warfare 2, known leakers Tom Henderson and TheMW2Ghost claim their sources say “it was a scrapped mode from MW19 and they haven’t heard or seen anything regarding it coming to MW II.”

Henderson clarified that “It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not coming, but I’m inclined to believe people working on the project/or with very good connections at the studio.”

The mode would work how it sounds, with players having to attack or defend an objective on the map. Defenders must “methodize a plan to slow down, or entirely halt the Attackers,” while the Attackers are working against the clock. RalphsValve said that the map will be similar to CoD 4’s CQB Test, but much larger.

RalphsValve also claimed that this mode will assign Attackers a role in their team, with one player designated as “Team Leader.” There will be a “Debrief period” between each round where players can rework their team dynamic.

Attackers v. Defenders will reportedly have plenty of mechanics that are new to Call of Duty. These include an expanded health system, fortification, and plenty of new Siege-inspired gadgets.

This new health system features three conditions, depending on how much damage players receive: Minor, Critically Injured, or Mortally Wounded. Attackers can use “Tourniquets” to pull off a lengthy revive, however.

Player using barricades in Rainbow Six Siege

Also, in true Rainbow Six fashion, Defenders can fortify their position, as well as use “hidden locations, boobytraps and cameras” to slow down the Attackers.

These leaks have been disputed and Ralphsleaks has also been accused of faking leaks in the past, so we recommend taking them with a heavy grain of salt.

We don’t expect to hear any concrete Modern Warfare 2 details until later in 2022 but you can also check out Tom Henderson’s claim that classic Modern Warfare 2 maps will appear in CoD 2022.
