Here’s the best PC settings for max framerate and quality for Cyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk 2077 has finally been released and is a highly demanding game. So demanding, in fact, that our 3080 rig barely squeezed above 70 FPS at high settings.
It’s no secret that at launch, the game is poorly optimized. Many PC fans will have to settle for 30 FPS if they’re looking for visual quality but can see up to 60 FPS when dropping settings down to low.
To guarantee maximum performance mixed with a beautiful gameplay experience, we’re going to give you a mixture of settings to guarantee a balance. Before we start, make sure you go into your graphics settings and follow along.
The basic settings for graphics don’t affect performance as much as they affect the gameplay experience. Most settings here are purely visual. We recommend turning off motion blur and playing at a 75-80 Field of View.
There’s always lots of action on screen, and a high FOV can cause motion sickness.
Before we get into this, if you have a high-end graphics card, lowering settings like “Level of Detail” and “Shadows” won’t do much to your FPS count. It seems the low FPS issue is linked to the game, not hardware. For the majority not on the highest-end hardware, follow along.

- Level Of Detail (LOD) – Low on most cards, Medium on 2070/3060TI
- Ray Tracing – If you’re on a 2000 series NVIDIA card, you can use this on the higher end range. On our 3080 setup, turning off this setting only occasionally gave us a 5 FPS boost.
- Resolution Scaling – DLSS Performance
Hopefully, this is of help. Unfortunately, for those who own a high-end gaming rig, this won’t be of much help if you want to get the most out of your PC due to launch optimization issues.
CPU usage for this game is very high, even with low FPS, and is a huge limiter for many systems. If you drop quality and don’t notice a big FPS boost, it’s worth playing on the higher settings and dealing with targeting 60 FPS until a patch is released.
CDPR confirm Cyberpunk 2077 update is set for huge setback because of “cyber attack”
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the Cyberpunk 2077 February 1.2 update has been affected by the recent cyber attack.
The Cyberpunk 2077 1.2 update previously announced for February will not be going ahead as planned due to lasting effects caused by the recent ransomware attack on CD Projekt Red.
Cyberpunk 2077 continues to suffer issues and setbacks as it bids to recover from its difficult launch. It was over a month ago that CDPR co-founder Marcin Iwinski addressed the public to discuss the game’s tumultuous launch. During this video, he discussed why the game had not lived up to expectations on console and made assurances about their plans to fix the game.
This included two substantial updates that were being worked on – the 1.1 and 1.2 patches. However, CD Projekt Red was the victim of a cyber attack a month ago that compromised the company, and as a result, the February update has been postponed.
The three-part Tweet discussed the impact of the ransomware attack saying: “The recent cyber attack on the studio’s IT infrastructure and extensive scope of the update mean this, unfortunately, will not happen — we’ll need some additional time.”
This will come as a hammer blow to buyers of the game that have been patiently waiting for Cyberpunk 2077’s issues to be mended. The Tweet continues on saying: “We’ve been working on numerous overall quality improvements and fixes, and we still have work to do to make sure that’s what you get.”
The official CDPR Tweet confirms that the massive 1.2 patch is now being touted for “release in the second half of March.”
It’s not an ideal situation for the company as they have already endured a lot of criticism for the game’s release with consumers slamming the devs for knowing it wasn’t ready.
Given the nature of the delay, it would be fair to say that players shouldn’t necessarily expect the new release date to be concrete either.
If internal problems continue to cause this level of disruption inside CDPR, then the 1.2 update could be delayed even further.

CD Projekt Red releases mod tools for Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt Red has released mod tools for Cyberpunk 2077, shortly after the release of patch 1.1. It’s only a matter of time before we see Cyberpunk mods.
CD Projekt Red has finally released mod tools to the public for Cyberpunk 2077.
Today, January 26, 2021, CD Projekt Red has released mod tools for PC owners of Cyberpunk 2077, days after their first major patch for the game. This is the first step of their long-planned journey to fix the game and add more content.
In addition to the tools, CD Projekt Red has also promised continued updates to the mod tools as more patches are released for the game.
As of now, only basic mod tools have been released, and the capabilities of the tools will remain unknown until modders begin to experiment with the technology.
The tools available are as follows:
- ArchiveDump – A utility for listing contents of game data archives
- TweakDump – A utility for listing contents of game Tweak DB (game settings) binaries
With these tools, there is also a separate Metadata download. You can download the tools for yourself here, but we only recommend doing so if you have experience with modding games or programming.
With the release of the mod tools, it’s only a matter of time until the true capabilities of the modding scene are realized.
Perhaps, players can fix bugs themselves, or even overhaul the buggy AI. With fixes for the game potentially trailing well into 2022, it isn’t outside of the realm of possibility that players beat CD Projekt Red to the punch with bug fixes.

Cyberpunk 2077 players reportedly getting refunds and keeping the game
Players are starting to see refunds for their Cyberpunk 2077 purchases, CD Projekt Red have yet to request that they return physical copies.
Players are now starting to see refunds for their physical purchases of Cyberpunk 2077, but aren’t being asked to return their game copies.
The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 has been nothing short of a disaster for gamers and developers at CD Projekt Red, especially on consoles.
Due to the horrible console launch, CD Projekt Red offered refunds to players who purchased physical copies of the game before December 21, 2020, and refunds are now being sent out to players via multiple methods of payment, including PayPal.
In an interview with Vice, an owner of the $250 collectors edition of the game reported that he received his refund, but hasn’t received any instructions from publisher CD Projekt Red on how to return the game and collectibles.
The refund he received (pictured below) was $271.10 USD which also included the estimated sales tax of the game.
It’s quite surprising that CD Projekt Red are the ones handling physical copy refunds, as traditionally it would be up to big-box retailers to issue refunds. Unfortunately, with the Cyberpunk 2077 issue, some retailers would offer refunds, while others did not.
As a result of the confusion, CD Projekt Red stepped in to offer refunds to customers who did not get the option to receive one.
For digital owners of the game, the Xbox and PlayStation store offered owners refunds, except in rare cases where users purchased digital codes from retailers. In these case-specific situations, CD Projekt Red are also keeping their word and issuing refunds to players who requested one.
As it stands, CD Projekt Red seems to be keeping its promise to refund all unsatisfied customers of the game. While they have not requested returns for the physical copies of the game, they may in the future.
If you’re a customer who has received a refund with no instructions on what to do with your copy, we recommend keeping the game stored in a safe place just in case the publisher asks for the copy back.
If they never do, then you can count yourself lucky. You’ll be able to play the game for free once the developers iron out all of the bugs, which is expected to happen over the course of the next few months.
