Best Perks in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War

The best Perks to suit your playstyle in Cold War.

Published

on

Black Ops Cold War introduces a mix of classic Perks along with some brand new additions.

Players can equip three Perks from set categories to their loadout. These offer various bonuses to your character in-game without any down-side.

Here are the Perks you should be running in Black Ops Cold War, and some tips on how they’ll match your playstyle.

Perk Category 1

Flak Jacket

If you are a player who loves jumping on the objectives, capturing flags, and defending hardpoints, lethal equipment is your worst enemy. While on an objective, there are only so many places you can be. This makes you especially susceptible to grenades and rockets. To counter this, Flak Jacket will allow you to survive a hit from a grenade or rocket, allowing you to continue to defend the point.

Tactical Mask

If you are a player who likes to run around the map and rush enemies, Tactical Mask is the perfect Perk for you. Getting hit by a Flashbang or, especially, a Stun Grenade will stop you in your tracks and leave you defenseless. Tactical Mask maximizes your resistance to Flashbangs and Stun Grenades, while also making you immune to Gas Grenades.

Perk Category 2

Scavenger

When racking up a high killstreak, you’ll start to notice your ammo depleting. This puts you in an awkward position where you have to either switch to your secondary or pick up a dropped weapon from the ground. Also, new to Cold War, there are some resupply stations around the map, but they are often watched.

With the return of the Gunsmith system, you can build your weapon exactly how you want it and another weapon may not suit your playstyle. With the Scavenger Perk equipped, running over a dead body will refill your ammunition. If you’re moving around the map, you can hold onto your own weapon confident in the knowledge you won’t run out of ammo.

Quartermaster

Lethal and tactical equipment are especially powerful in Black Ops Cold War. Clearing a room with a well-thrown Stun Grenade will give you a huge advantage when you rush. The problem is that you only get one use per life, so when you’re racking up a high killstreak, you’ll find yourself in situations were another piece of equipment would be vital.

The Quartermaster Perk allows your equipment to recharge over 25 seconds. Throw a grenade and 25 seconds later, you have another. Be strategic in when to use your equipment and you’ll find a lot of use in this Perk.

Perk Category 3

Ghost

With the new Scorestreak system, almost every player will acquire a low-end Scorestreak over the course of the match. One of the most common Scorestreaks which you will see called in is the Spy Plane.

When this is called in, all enemy players will be revealed on the mini-map. This makes pulling off flanks or defending spots especially difficult. With Ghost equipped, while moving, operating a Scorestreak, or using a bomb, you will not appear on enemies mini-maps.

Ninja

If you’re more the run-and-gun type, Ninja is the Perk for you. Treyarch has worked hard on audio improvements for Cold War, meaning footstep audio is easier to detect. While wearing headphones, it’s easy to pinpoint the direction an enemy is coming from by their footsteps. This makes rushing more difficult. Without completely silencing your movement, Ninja quietens your footsteps when sprinting, hides you from Field Mics, and lessens your Operators in-game callouts.

Experiment with the wide variety of Perks in Black Ops Cold War to find your playstyle, but you can’t go wrong with these classic additions.

Top 5 best Krig 6 loadouts to use in Black Ops Cold War

Dominate your competition by selecting one of our top 5 best Krig 6 loadouts to use in CoD: Black Ops Cold War.

Published

on

Choosing the best weapon is an obvious but important decision in determining how you fare in Call of Duty. The Krig 6 has usurped most of the competition to become an Alpha in the pack, see what works for you with our top 5 best Krig 6 loadouts in Black Ops Cold War.

It would be silly to imply that one gun can essentially break the meta and turn you into an esports pro overnight. But a solid loadout can still go a long way to improving your performance in CoD.

The Krig 6 is a fantastic weapon that took longer than some other guns to earn the recognition it so rightly deserves. It’s an accurate killer that is more than capable of racking up a stupidly high kill count in any mode that it’s used in.

Run and gun loadout

When you want to get from A-B and kill from day-night.

This is suited to the mobile player that wants to move and maim in their groove.

  • Optic: Millstop Reflex
  • Muzzle: Infantry Compensator
  • Barrel: 15.5″ Contour
  • Body: Steady Aim Laser
  • Underbarrel: Infiltrator
  • Magazine: 40 Rnd
  • Handle: Speed Tape
  • Stock: Wire Stock

This class is perfectly set up for you to gallop around to your heart’s content. Given that you’re always on the move and don’t intend to stay in the same spot for too long, these attachments are best. Increased hip-fire accuracy gives you an advantage in a tight, sudden 1 vs 1. You’re now Sonic-like in your movement speed, aiming, your mag needs a lot of ammo, and that vertical recoil is more assisted.

Long-range loadout

Given that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s time-to-kill seems a bit longer, it can require a lot more consistency from you at range. Unless you’re wielding a sniper rifle and expertly popping off those old-school quickscopes, then you’ll need a bit more firepower.

  • Optic: Visiontech 2x
  • Muzzle: SOCOM Eliminator
  • Barrel: 19.7″ Takedown
  • Body: SOF Target Destinator
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Magazine: 40 Rnd
  • Handle: SARS Jungle Grip
  • Stock: SAS Combat Stock

With these attachments, you’re mostly balanced in the key stats needed to become a marksman. Foregoing the tensities and reflexes of close-range combat, you can now sit back and pick people off instead. Damage is increased over range and recoil is reduced, your bullets are concealed, and you can spot enemies quicker.

Stealth loadout

krig 6 loadout choices in bocw

Everyone needs a stealth loadout, especially for those quiet, heated games of Search & Destroy. Or if you’re an avid Hardcore player, then slapping a suppressor on is always a good way to capitalize on the increased damage.

  • Optic: Millstop Reflex
  • Muzzle: Suppressor
  • Barrel: 19.7″ Takedown
  • Body: Steady Aim Laser
  • Underbarrel: Infiltrator
  • Magazine: 40 Rnd
  • Handle: Speed Tape
  • Stock: Tactical Stock

Again, trying not to make some stats too negative, this feels like a good way to move around your environment. Walking movement speed is increased a lot, but still gives you room to run if you need it. The suppressor will silence your bullets and the barrel makes up for the damage drop-off. This is a competent, quiet murder-machine.

Accurate loadout

Sometimes it’s all about being pinpoint accurate, isn’t it? Forget running faster than your legs can carry you to close in on the target, it’s about being able to ping a bullseye from one mile away, every time.

  • Optic: Visiontech 2x
  • Muzzle: Infantry Compensator
  • Barrel: 19.7″ Takedown
  • Body: Steady Aim Laser
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Magazine: 40 Rnd
  • Handle: Airborne Elastic Wrap
  • Stock: Tactical Stock

The Visiontech Optic can work wonders for you if you can judge the difference between in-zoom and out of zoom. Also, the Airborne Elastic Wrap allows you to snap to your sight and provides massive flinch resistance, meaning you can still fire accurately whilst being filled with more holes than an old pair of socks. Add the reliable barrel, magazine, and much better recoil, and you have an accurate beast.

Our best loadout

Finally, our own choice. Simply the attachments that we feel works best for the Krig 6 to make it an absolute monster of an assault rifle to use for any situation.

  • Optic: Microflex LED
  • Muzzle: Muzzle Brake 5.56
  • Barrel: 19.7″ Takedown
  • Body: Ember Sighting Point
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Magazine: 40 RND
  • Handle: Airborne Elastic Wrap
  • Stock: Wire Stock

Well-rounded, literally aims to displease the enemy, and it will reward you with all the scorestreaks you could ever possibly ask for. The Krig-6 is a fantastic weapon and it can be used in so many different ways.

That concludes our top 5 best Krig 6 loadouts to use in Black Ops Cold War guide. Depending on your playstyle, one of these will surely work for you.

How to get massive Weapon XP in Black Ops Cold War Zombies

Weapons are slower to level up in Cold War compared to previous titles, so here’s the fastest way to rank them up in Zombies.

Published

on

A Youtuber has discovered a way to level up weapons extremely fast in Black Ops Cold War Zombies.

For the first time, progression is tied across all game modes. No matter which mode you play, weapon rank will increase for use in multiplayer and Zombies.

Treyarch has added a double XP bonus until November 30, so you can rank up your guns much quicker. Players were earning too much Weapon XP in Zombies, so the developers reduced the amount of 2WXP earned.

The community was left frustrated after this, but YouTube channel Glitching Queen uploaded a video explaining how to get ‘massive weapon XP’ in Cold War Zombies.

Earn XP fast

Glitching Queen discovered that killing Zombies in rounds two and three will net you considerably more XP than any other round. As rounds progress, you actually earn continually fewer points. Players have reported that when in the high rounds, weapons no longer earn any XP.

First, if you are a PS4 or PS5 player, they recommend partying up with someone also on PlayStation to receive bonus XP. As part of Activision’s deal with Sony, if PS players are partied up, they will receive a ‘party boost’ where weapons are leveled up even faster.

The method below also works on Xbox consoles and PC, but it won’t be quite as effective.

When ranking a weapon from level 0-40, Glitching Queen recommends playing up to round five then backing out. This maximizes your playtime, so everything you do counts towards unlocking new attachments and Camo Challenges.

When your weapon level is in the high 40s and 50s, you should drop out of Zombies after completing round three. With the drop in XP after this round, it’s not worth playing on if your goal is to rank up your guns.

Repeatedly quit your Zombies game after the first few rounds and you’ll find your weapons ranking up much faster than playing multiplayer or Zombies traditionally. You won’t be able to beat any world-records, though.

Black Ops Cold War dev confirms fix coming for Mastery camo bug

Cold War players have been unhappy with the appearance of the Mastery Camos, so Treyarch have promised a fix is coming soon.

Published

on

Treyarch has addressed issues with the appearance of the Mastery Camos in Black Ops Cold War, saying they are the result of a bug.

Dark Matter is a time-consuming and tricky grind. Weapons level up significantly slower in Black Ops Cold War than previous CoDs, and some weapons clearly outshine others. The most hardcore players are grinding to get their hands on Dark Matter, with some unlocking it just weeks after launch.

Fans have been disappointed with the appearance of the Mastery Camos, though. Except for Diamond, the unique camos only cover some parts of the weapons while leaving the rest plain. For the amount of time it takes to complete these challenges, you want to be able to show off your rare camo.

Treyarch is aware of this issue. On the Official Trello Board, Treyarch posted that they have also spotted the “unintentional changes to Mastery Camo display.”

Fixes coming soon

“After our most recent update, some weapons began to display certain Mastery Camo differently,” the Trello card read. “We are looking to release a fix for this is in our next major update.”

So don’t let the appearance put you off working towards the camos. Treyarch hasn’t given a concrete date for when we can expect the fix, but it’s likely to be soon.

With a 24/7 playlist of Nuketown ’84 and double weapon XP currently being in the game, more and more players will be unlocking Gold, Diamond, and Dark Matter over the coming weeks.

Treyarch also addressed other problems with camos and Challenges. If you resume the game from a suspended state, weapon camo and challenges may appear to be locked. If you restart your game, you will be able to see your correct progress.

The developers have also discussed the power of the Perk Flak Jacket.

This Perk allows you to survive a direct hit with an explosive. This makes it extremely difficult to get kills with launchers for the Mastery Camo challenges if a player is running Flak Jacket.
