The Owen Gun is one of the most underrated weapons in Call of Duty: Vanguard, so we’ve got all of the attachments and Perks needed to make the best Owen Gun loadout.
The Owen Gun went from overlooked SMG to one of the best in its class when it comes to Warzone. Given how well it’s performed in the battle royale, the SMG can be just as devastating in Vanguard’s multiplayer.
Vanguard Season 2 Reloaded brought a new SMG to the game making the total number rise to eight. With the optimal attachments on the best Owen Gun loadout, this Vanguard SMG proves that it can dominate in close quarters.

- Muzzle: Recoil Booster
- Barrel: Hockenson 142mm Rapid

This Owen Gun loadout is built to maximize precision while maintaining an adequate speed. This should allow you to hit targets outside the range expected of a Vanguard SMG while still performing at maximum close-range efficiency.
For starters, we absolutely need to increase this weapon’s fire rate as it naturally shoots quite slowly. For this reason, we’ve gone with the Recoil Booster and Hockenson 142mm Rapid. Since these attachments hurt recoil control we’ve gone with the Gawain H4 Folding stock to help balance that out.
The 7.62 Gorenko 72 Round Drums also boosts fire rate but more importantly, we’ve picked this magazine as it offers a less obtrusive line of sight for the Owen Gun. Fabric Grip and the Mark VI Skeletal are vital in boosting ADS speed that was hurt by the previous attachments.
The ideal optic for the Owen Gun can be left to your personal preference but we suggest some type of Slate Reflector. Lastly, Fleet and Quick will keep you zooming around the map taking gunfights at varying distances.
Best Perks to use with Owen Gun
- Perk 1: Ghost
- Perk 2: Forward Intel
- Perk 3: Lightweight
- Lethal: Sticky Bomb
- Tactical: Stun
Ghost only activates while players are moving and since you’ll be doing plenty of moving with this SMG loadout Ghost should keep you hidden most of the time. Forward Intel will be the key to pulling off devastating spawn traps and with your 72 Round Drums, you can annihilate most players before they realize what hit them.
Lightweight will increase your movement speed to extraordinary levels, allowing you to glide across the map. The Sticky Bomb has been a great new tool to get players out of tricky hidden areas while a Stun will disorient players you plan to sprint at.
How to unlock Owen Gun in Vanguard
Seeing as we’re into Season 2 Reloaded of Vanguard most players will have unlocked the Owen Gun already. However, new players just need to reach level 29 in Vanguard to access the SMG. This is easily done by earning XP across any multiplayer mode.
Earning XP across multiplayer modes will lead to unlocking the Owen Gun as fast as possible while a 2x XP token will certainly speed up the process.
Best alternatives to the Owen Gun
The MP40 has dominated the SMG category since Vanguard launched so if you haven’t tested it yet you may want to give it a shot. However, the Sten is similar to the Owen Gun in that it is a great SMG that is not getting the attention it deserves.
