The AK-74u is a powerful Black Ops Cold War weapon in Warzone Season 4, so here are the attachments and perks you should use to create the best loadout for this understated SMG.
Season 4 of Warzone is well underway, and Raven Software made various weapon balance tweaks after the update arrived. The AK-74u submachine gun is an extremely viable option in the new season.
Popular player Faze Swagg called the AK-74u the “fastest killing SMG” in Warzone during Season 3, and it is ranked high in Season 4. Taking it into battle will give you a powerful weapon that can vastly improve with the right attachments and perks.
Best Warzone AK-74u loadout
Best Warzone AK-74u loadout Attachments
- Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
- Barrel: 9.3″ VDV Reinforced
- Stock: KGB Skeletal Stock
- Underbarrel: Spetsnaz Grip
- Ammunition: 40 Rnd Drum
This AK-74u is built to dominate up close while also being useful in medium-range situations. You’ll be surprised at how fast this weapon can rip off plates and down enemies. Pair this with a Sniper Rifle, and your loadout will be effective no matter how far away your target is.
First, we’ve added the GRU Suppressor. This works the same as Modern Warfare’s Monolithic Suppressor, boosting the SMG’s damage at range while keeping you off the minimap. You can also try out the new Sound Suppressor muzzle for close-range encounters.
Next, you should equip the 9.3″ VDV Reinforced barrel to increase its damage range, making the weapon more versatile and effective over distance. The Spetsnaz Grip will reduce both vertical and horizontal recoil, granting more accuracy at medium range.
For ammunition, we picked the 40 Rnd Drum. With an SMG, you want to be as mobile as possible, and some of the mags reduce your ADS speed. This will only reduce your reload speed, which is a worthwhile tradeoff.
And finally, we’ll cap off this loadout with the KGB Skeletal Stock to increase your movement speed while shooting. Since you’ve improved your accuracy at medium-range, moving faster in the middle of an attack will help you secure kills.
Best perks to use with Warzone AK-74u class
- Perk 1: E.O.D
- Perk 2: Overkill/Ghost
- Perk 3: Amped
Semtex and C4s are a favorite among Warzone players, so we recommend equipping the E.O.D perk to make you more resistant to explosive damage.
The best Warzone AK-74u loadout loses effectiveness over distance, so use Overkill to pair it with a long-range weapon like the HDR Sniper Rifle or Kilo 141. You can then switch to a Ghost class from a second loadout drop later in the match, letting you keep both weapons while ensuring you don’t pop up on enemy’s UAVs or Heartbeat Sensors.
Finally, we recommend going with Amped for your third perk in this loadout. This lets you switch faster between your guns, so you won’t stay vulnerable for too long as your enemies approach you.
How to unlock the AK-74u
Unlocking the AK-74u is fairly straightforward since you need to hit Level 19 while playing Warzone or Black Ops Cold War. Fortunately, this is easy enough to get done.
Simply play the game for a couple of hours, and you’ll quickly unlock it, especially if you play during a Double XP weekend or use some double XP tokens.
If you’re looking for some great alternatives to the best Warzone AK-74u loadout, then you should pick some that are suited to close and medium-range combat. The Bullfrog is an excellent Cold War SMG with an insanely strong headshot multiplier, and the AS VAL has one of the fastest times-to-kill.
Using the best Warzone AK-74u loadout at close to medium range, and you’ll find yourself using an excellent accompaniment to Sniper Rifles in Verdansk ’84 and Rebirth Island.

Warzone Iron Trials ’84 mode: Duos end date, new ruleset & rewards
Warzone’s “toughest” mode has arrived in Season 5 with Iron Trials ’84 offering a new ruleset and the best players an exclusive reward.
Following Warzone’s Season 5 Reloaded update, devs introduced Iron Trials ’84. In this mode, players can earn bragging rights by winning “the toughest Battle Royale mode to ever come to Verdansk.”
One of these new modes is Iron Trials ’84, which is a more hardcore Verdansk experience where players can earn an exclusive Calling Card. In Iron Trials, you must “flex your mastery over the entire arsenal of weapons” and “prove you can handle any firefight with any type of armament.”
Here’s everything you need to know about Warzone’s Iron Trials ’84 mode.
Warzone Iron Trials Duos end date
Warzone’s Iron Trials ’84 launched on September 16 with roaring success. It arrived in the weekly Playlist updates, and Raven Software has now confirmed that “Iron Trials ’84 Duos will remain live through the 30th.”
There’s no confirmation of whether Iron Trials will switch to another game mode or will end completely. We’ll be sure to keep you updated when September 30 rolls around, or if Raven provides another update.
Warzone Iron Trials ’84 rules
In many ways, Iron Trials is a more competitive version of Warzone. The Gulag is more skill-reliant, loadout drops are rarer and more difficult to acquire, and the time-to-kill (TTK) has been raised across the board.
- Operator and TTK changes
- No free Loadout Drops
- Tougher Gulag
- No Stopping Power or Dead Silence
- Sniper Rifle, Stun Grenade, and Medical Syringe changes
- Fewer vehicles
- Loot changes
- Buy Station price changes
Operator and time-to-kill changes
- Base Health: Compared to a normal match, all players base health is increased from 100 to 250.
- Health Regeneration: The regen delay timer has been increased from 5 to 7 seconds and regen per second has been decreased from 120 per second to 40. It may be wise for players to reconsider preferred Perks and Equipment.
- Starting Equipment: Players drop in with a .44 Magnum and a Sledgehammer.
Devs have previously made it their mission to increase Warzone’s TTK, saying that it increases “the overall capacity for skill expression” and enables “more escapes from impossible situations, moments of finesse, epic outplays, and opportunities to flex exquisite marksmanship.”
They said that Iron Trials 84’s health change is “set to affect the feel of combat, time-to-kill, weapon, Perk, and Equipment viability as the entire game is effectively altered!”
No free Loadout Drops
Even if you Gulag’d early and are scrambling to find cash and more weapons, you can always be safe in the knowledge that a free Loadout Drop will arrive at the start of the second and fifth circles.
But not in Iron Trials ’84, where Complimentary Loadout Drops have been disabled. Staying alive and finding cash has never been more important, especially when “the cost at a Buy Station has risen, too.”
Players will have to collect and spend $15,000 instead of the standard $10,000 to purchase a loadout drop in this game mode.
In Iron Trials ’84, devs have revealed that the Gulag is still open, but will emphasize one-on-one skill. They also said that “the only thing standing between you and redeployment is the agility of your trigger finger.”
- No akimbo
- No semi-auto or fully-auto Shotguns
- Almost no Tactical Equipment
Also, if you win your one-on-one, you’ll now redeploy with whatever weapons and equipment you had in the Gulag.
No Stopping Power or Dead Silence
Players have long complained about the luck-based advantage that the powerful Field Upgrades Stopping Power and Dead Silence brings.
Sniper Rifle, Stun Grenade, and Medical Syringe nerfs
Sniper Rifles are some of Warzone’s most powerful tools, allowing you to take out targets at extremely long range without getting your hands dirty. However, Iron Trials ’84 has made it so Sniper Rifles “Can only one-shot to the head within 30 meters.”
This will likely promote more aggressive playstyles for snipers, where they must close the gap to land that ever-important one-shot kill.
In addition, Stun Grenades and Medical Syringes will also see their effectiveness decreased by a whopping 50%, making them not nearly as strong as they are in regular game modes.
A common strategy for surviving Verdansk is to move around in the safety of Big Bertha Trucks, SUVs, and Helicopters. You won’t be able to do this in Iron Trials, though, as the only vehicles on the map will be ATVs and Dirt Bikes.
You won’t be able to run over your opponents with such ease, and you won’t be able to use the vehicles for cover. Raven recommends you “Plan your drops carefully and rotate early.”
You can find all of the game-changing loot changes that are in effect in the Warzone Iron Trials ’84 game mode below:
- Basic Attachments: Common weapons will start with an attachment – most to provide their max magazine size.
- Rarity Spawn Rates: Epic and Legendary weapons are now harder to find. Players will have to open a few more boxes than usual to find what they’re looking for.
- New Rarity – Classified: These Black Ops Cold War weapons will spawn with a few more attachments than usual – more than the standard five. That said, good luck finding one.
- Killstreaks: Drop rates have been reduced. Time to stop spamming UAVs and to start putting those senses to the test.
- Cash Spawns: Larger piles of cash are rarer. Players will have to stay on top of scavenging for cash if they plan to afford a Loadout.
- Field Upgrades: No Dead Silence. No Stopping Power Rounds. Period.
Buy Station price changes
- Armor Bundle: $1,500 to $2,000
- Gas Mask: $3,000 to $4,000
- Cluster Strike: $3,000 to $4,000
- Precision Strike: $3,500 to $4,500
- Self Revive: $4,000 to $5,000
- UAV: $4,000 to $6,000
- Loadout Drop Marker: $10,000 to $15,000
Warzone Iron Trials ’84 reward
For winning a game of Iron Trials ’84, players can get their hands on an exclusive Calling Card.
Devs said that “there’s no participation trophy for this mode,” and only those who win Iron Trials will receive the Calling Card.
Will Iron Trials come to Warzone Custom Lobbies?
Iron Trials has been incredibly popular since its arrival, with many players calling for it to be a permanent ranked mode. There’s no confirmation that a ranked mode will ever arrive in Warzone, but the competitive scene should be receiving the new rules in the future.
Iron Trials ’84 Duos will remain live through the 30th.— Raven Software (@RavenSoftware) September 22, 2021
As for customs… it’s not coming 𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸 is all we can say for now. 😉
Along with the confirmation that Iron Trials would be around until at least September 30, Raven Software told YouTuber JGOD that “As for customs… it’s not coming tomorrow is all we can say for now.”
So, it sounds very likely that Iron Trials rules will make their way to Custom Lobbies and competitive Warzone, but there’s no confirmation on when. However, we’ll let you know as soon as it’s confirmed.
That’s everything we know about Warzone Season 5’s Iron Trials ’84 mode! With all of these rules in mind, check out the best Warzone Iron Trials ’84 loadout.

Banned Warzone pay-to-win Bullfrog Blueprint completely breaks game audio
Warzone players have discovered a bugged pay-to-win Bullfrog Blueprint that completely breaks the game’s audio.
It appears a pay-to-win Bullfrog Blueprint has made its way to Call of Duty: Warzone, with the bugged weapon completely ruining audio cues and being banned from some tournaments.
With Modern Warfare’s major overhaul to Call of Duty’s cosmetics, devs were clear that purchasable items will provide no competitive advantage. However, thanks to bugs and glitches, that isn’t always the case.
Now, it appears that a Bullfrog skin is completely messing up the game’s audio, giving the impression that shots are coming from all around.
Hearing and understanding audio cues is a major aspect of dominating Warzone, so it’s important you have the best audio settings. Yet, it turns out that a Bullfrog Blueprint is causing major audio issues, and it’s now been banned from competitive play.
Warzone pro and streamer ZLaner was playing with Dr Disrespect and TimTheTatman when he noticed that one of his teammates was using the bugged Bullfrog. It turned out to be Tim, so Z showed Doc and the audience exactly what the problem is.
After Tim fired the weapon, Doc immediately reacted by saying “Oh my god, no way!” ZLaner then clarified the issue, explaining that “it sounds like it’s all around you.” When this Bullfrog Blueprint is fired nearby, it appears that it’s impossible to track down exactly where the shots are coming from.
This Bullfrog issue appears to be well-known in the competitive community, with pro player exzachht reportedly nearly disqualified for using a Bullfrog Blueprint in the Z&Z tournament. He never used the broken one, but it proves it’s a serious issue.
The Blueprint in question, Blast Radius, sells in the Store for 2,400 COD Points so it appears that it is indeed pay-to-win. How much it affects regular public matches is uncertain but the competitive community has clearly found issues with it.
It’s highly unlikely the Blueprint is meant to act this way, so mow that it has entered the limelight, perhaps Raven Software will provide a fix in the future.
