Best audio settings for CoD: Warzone Season 5

Hearing and understanding audio cues is key to success in Warzone, so here are the best audio settings for a competitive advantage.

Best Warzone Audio Settings

Hearing footsteps and other audio cues are vital to winning matches of Call of Duty: Warzone, so we’ve put together the best audio settings to give you the competitive edge during combat in Season 5.

Audio is everything in Call of Duty, especially in Warzone. With how slow and tactical battle royale games can be, hearing enemy footsteps, a window break, or a door open can give you all the information you need to score a victory.

In particular, if you find yourself in the Gulag, footsteps noises are especially helpful when trying to win your 1v1. We’ve compiled the best audio settings you can run in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5.

The best Warzone audio settings

Warzone player sneaking up on enemy

To make sure you’re getting maximum spatial awareness from Warzone’s audio, you should try and use headphones instead of TV or monitor speakers – even a cheap pair of earphones will be better.

We understand not everyone can afford a headset, so here are the best Warzone audio settings regardless of what you’re listening through:

Volumes

  • Audio Mix: Boost High
  • Master Volume: 85%
  • Music Volume: 0%
  • Dialogue Volume: 70%
  • Effects Volume: 100%
  • War Tracks Volume: 30%

Voice Chat

  • Voice Chat: Enabled
  • Open Mic Recording Threshold: 3.16
  • Voice Chat Volume: 150.00
  • Microphone Volume: 120.00
  • Voice Chat Effect: No Effect

Most competitive players, be them professionals or content creators, agree that Boost High is one of the best Warzone audio settings. Footsteps, which are by the far the most important detail to be listening out for, have a high frequency.

Boost High audio setting in Warzone

Explosions and distant gunshots have a low frequency, so Boost High will amplify the footsteps over anything else. High-profile players like Dr Disrespect have complained about the footsteps being too quiet, so this will be of great help.

After setting the Audio Mix to Boost High, it’s mostly down to preference depending on your headset/speakers. However, there are a few settings you can optimize when it comes to having the best Warzone audio settings for a competitive advantage.

Warzone Adler running with dead silence

While the soundtrack for Warzone is pretty great, having music playing will offer no competitive advantage. If you’re focused on getting a win, it’s best to set the Music Volume to 0%. It’s also worth keeping Dialogue Volume reasonably high, as enemy Operators may call out that they’re reloading or placing a Claymore.

The deployment helicopter can be particularly loud, so you might want to press F10 to mute all in-game audio during the initial deployment phase. If you’re chatting to your squad over Discord, TeamSpeak, or Xbox Party Chat, this is a useful quality of life trick you can use.

High Alert Perk

Of course, having the best audio settings will give you an edge, but players using Dead Silence will still be able to mask their footsteps. Luckily, an update to the High Alert Perk looks set to become the perfect counter when it finally takes effect.

A change in the perk’s description has revealed that it will soon grant players the ability to hear the footsteps of anyone using Dead Silence. This is in addition to its usual effect of warning you when an enemy out of sight is aiming at you.

If you combine these audio settings with the High Alert perk when it gets updated, nobody should be able to sneak up on you the next time you drop into Verdansk ’84. For more tips to help you survive in Warzone Season 5, check out the best TEC-9 and EM2 loadouts.

There have been various causes for this error in Warzone. Aside from the game crashing while loading a map, this can also occur when the camera returns to the player after they get killed.

Many players have reported this problem happening while they try to play the game with both In-Game Overlay and Nvidia highlights enabled at the same time, so we recommend disabling them both.

The problem might be that the game requires certain permissions that you can only grant as the admin. For this reason, you can try launching the game as an Administrator and see if that fixes things.

This is a fairly simple process:

Best XM4 loadout for CoD: Warzone Season 5

The XM4 is a superb, ranged killer in Warzone Season 5. Here are the attachments and perks to make the best Warzone XM4 loadout.

Best Warzone XM4 loadout

The XM4 is an excellent Assault Rifle in CoD: Warzone Season 5 Reloaded, so here is the best loadout class to make the most of this meta gun.

The XM4 Assault Rifle, modeled after the original Black Ops’ Commando, is a medium-range weapon perfect for accompanying a long-range Sniper Rifle.

When sniping, you need something that can deal with targets up close and can follow up on armor breaks at a medium distance. The XM4 is an extremely powerful choice to run as your ‘pocket weapon’ if you’re looking for something to complement your favorite long-range weapon.

With Warzone Season 5 Reloaded bringing various buffs and nerfs to the game, most notable for the previously dominant Krig 6, the XM4 was left untouched, allowing it to rise in the meta. So, here are the attachments and perks to make the best Warzone XM4 loadout class to maximize the potential of this Assault Rifle in Verdansk ’84 and Rebirth Island.

Best Warzone XM4 loadout attachments

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 13.5″ Task Force
  • Optic: Microflex LED or Axial Arms 3x
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Ammunition: STANAG 60 Round

To make sure the best Warzone XM4 loadout is laser-accurate, we’re adding the Field Agent Grip. With this attachment, the XM4 will be as accurate as it needs to be at close-medium ranges. With some recoil control, you’ll also be able to beam enemies at a distance too.

The 13.5″ Task Force barrel received a significant buff in the Season 5 update, giving it majorly improved bullet velocity, range, and recoil control at the cost of some mobility. You should add the Agency Suppressor to the best Warzone XM4 loadout for even more velocity, which increases the weapon’s damage range while keeping you off the minimap.

We’re going with the STANAG 60 Round to ensure we have enough ammo to take down multiple enemies when using the best Warzone XM4 loadout. Finally, the XM4’s iron sights are still quite obtrusive, so you’ll want to use the Microflex LED or even the Axial Arms 3x if you’re looking for more range.

The XM4’s damage will drop off at a distance compared to some of the top Assault Rifles, so you should pair the best Warzone XM4 loadout with a long-range weapon such as the Swiss K31 or Kar98k.

Best perks to use with Warzone XM4 class

best perks warzone xm4 loadout class
  • Perk 1: E.O.D
  • Perk 2: Overkill / Ghost
  • Perk 3: Tracker

E.O.D will allow you to withstand Semtex, Grenades, and a large quantity of any other serious explosive throwables. With so many players using Semtex or C4 to gain the upper hand in a fight, you’ll need E.O.D if you have any hope of surviving.

Overkill will allow you to get two primary weapons from your loadout. Then you can take the Ghost Perk from your next one, hiding you from UAVs and Heartbeat Sensors.

While running both a Sniper Rifle and an Assault Rifle, you want to be able to swap between them quickly. Whether getting ambushed up close or following up on a snipe, the Amped Perk will allow you to switch weapons almost instantly.

Most recent XM4 buffs and nerfs in Warzone

There have not been any recent changes to the XM4 Assault Rifle in the Call of Duty battle royale, but we will be sure to update this page with any new ones when they go live.

How to unlock the XM4

best warzone xm4 loadout

To unlock the XM4 Assault Rifle for the best Warzone XM4 loadout, you’ll have to make sure you reach Level 4 in Warzone or Black Ops Cold War.

This is very easy and will be accomplished within a game or two. The main takeaway is it gets you to level up the XM4 quicker and get your attachments sooner.

Best alternatives

Following the Warzone Season 5 Reloaded update, the best Warzone XM4 loadout is still a great weapon to use alongside a Sniper Rifle. This puts it on par with the RAM-7 and Cold War’s AK-47. However, if you want something for closer ranges, then the LC10 and PPSH are excellent choices.

If you’re looking for more weapons to try out, check out some of this season’s best weapon loadouts below.
