Warzone Season 5 has introduced the battle royale’s first ever energy rifle in the form of the EX1, better known as the EM1 from Advanced Warfare. Before you take this new piece of tech out into a match, you’ll need the best EX1 loadout for Warzone Season 5, complete with attachments, Perks, and Equipment.

Warzone Season 5 has arrived, bringing this era of the game to end before Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 take over. The devs are clearly looking to go out with a bang, bringing in Umbrella Academy characters for the first time, and introducing a number of classic weapons from the series’ history.

One of these familiar weapons is the EX1 Assault RIfle, which fans will recognize as the EM1 from Advanced Warfare. This unique weapon from the future fires laser beams instead of traditional ammo, bringing a whole new layer to Warzone fights.

The new gun is sure to be a popular choice in Warzone Season 5, so we’ve put together the best EX1 loadout to help you dominate the final chapter.

Best Warzone EX1 loadout attachments

  • Muzzle: Coil Amp
  • Barrel: SD Instant Grat
  • Optic: Slate Reflector
  • Stock: AC-Titanium Anchor
  • Underbarrel: Ion Hand Stop
  • Magazine: Royal-PV Cell Reserve Battery
  • Rear Grip: Taped Grip
  • Perk 1: Fleet
  • Perk 2: On-Hand

The EX1 does come with a fair amount of recoil, so our setup focuses on keeping it under wraps to make it effective in longer-range fights. We kick things off with the Coil Amp, SD Instant Grat, Ion Hand Stop, and AC-Titanium Anchor, all of which boost flinch resistance, recoil control, and general stability to make the EX1 a literal laser in Warzone.

Optics are mostly down to personal preference, but we’ve gone for a simple Slate Reflector because it’s clean and easy to use. As an Energy Weapon, there are no choices for ammo, but it does pay to use the Royal-PV Cell Reserve Battery to increase ammo capacity and ensure you never run dry mid-battle.

A drawback of the futuristic technology packed into the EX1 is that it can feel quite bulky to use, so Taped Grip and the Fleet Perk will increase movement speed, sprint-to-fire speed, and add stability. Meanwhile, On-Hand buffs ADS speed to help you land those shots early and get the edge on your opponent.

Best Perks & Equipment to use with EX1 in Warzone

  • Perk 1: E.O.D
  • Perk 2: Overkill
  • Perk 3: Amped
  • Lethal: Semtex
  • Tactical: Stim

Perks-wise, it’s always a solid choice to run E.O.D to counter the many explosives that enemies will throw at you and soak up some of the damage.

Then, Overkill lets you bring along another primary weapon, allowing you to pair the EX1 with a Sniper or SMG. We also recommend Amped to enable you to switch between the two quickly, meaning you’re never caught with the wrong weapon for the situation at hand.

When it comes to Equipment, Semtex is an easy-to-use lethal that deals big damage, while Stims offer a handy health boost that can be crucial in desperate moments.

How to unlock the EX1 in Warzone

All you have to do to get hold of the EX1 in Warzone is reach Tier 15 of the Season 5 Battle Pass by earning XP in-game.

If you haven’t purchased the Battle Pass, don’t worry, this is one of the free tiers, so there’s no need to spend any real money if you don’t want to.

Best alternatives to EX1 in Warzone

If the EX1 isn’t cutting it, we recommend trying out other meta Assault Rifles like the no-recoil KG M40 or the fast-firing Cooper Carbine.

The beauty of the EX1, however, is that you can swap its attachments to turn it into virtually any type of weapon you want, from an SMG to a Sniper Rifle. So, consider playing around with the attachments to find the build that suits you.
