Today, we found out that player count for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s new Battle Royale mode. GameInformer revealed that the Blackout mode will feature 80 players in the beta, which goes live on PS4 starting September 10. 80 player count is higher than many were expecting and the highest player count Call of Duty’s ever had for any mode before.

Today, EA also shared a trailer for Battlefield V and revealed that the game’s new BR mode, which is called Firestorm, will only feature 64 players max. 64 players has been a key number in the Battlefield franchise, as MP matches feature that number already, so it’s interesting to see that they decided to stick to that same number count for their Royale mode. Many expected a higher count for Battlefield seeing as it’s achieved 64 in regular MP thus far.

So, Blackout in Black Ops 4 has a higher player count than Battlefield V’s new Royale mode. Although both don’t hit the magic 100 number, it’s interesting to see Call of Duty get a higher count.
