Cold War April 15 patch notes: Custom Mods & new playlists
Custom Mods lets you save up to 10 Gunsmith Blueprints.
Treyarch released the latest Game Settings Update for Black Ops Cold War on all platforms on April 15.
The update includes a refreshed playlist, access to Custom Mods with Gunsmith Blueprints, and a preview what’s coming this weekend with Triple Double XP weekend.
In addition, Season 3 officially begins next week – on April 22, so stay tuned for more updates to come as we get closer to the new season launch.
From Treyarch:
BLUEPRINT GUN GAME, APOCALYPSE 24/7 + MORE
Today’s update brings the all-new Blueprint Gun Game mode to Multiplayer, along with the return of Apocalypse 24/7 and Snipers Only Moshpit to close out the season!
Progress through an arsenal of Weapon Blueprints in this new version of the free-for-all Gun Game mode. Weapon progression can change from match to match with different Blueprints available per tier, so keep on your toes and stay on target. Come out on top as the first to progress through all 20 weapons to win the match.
CUSTOM MODS IN CREATE-A-CLASS
After some final touches behind the scenes, the Custom Mods menu is now available in Create-a-Class, allowing players to name and save custom Blueprint creations via Gunsmith Customs and take them into their next match. Dead Ops Arcade 3 also gets an update in Zombies today, with new XP award adjustments and bug fixes now live.
TRIPLE-DOUBLE WEEKEND STARTS TOMORROW
We’re bringing out the big guns at the end of the season with a new Triple-Double Weekend, featuring Double XP, Double Weapon XP, and Double Battle Pass XP starting at 10AM PT tomorrow through 10AM PT Monday, April 19th!
Now’s your chance to hit that final Prestige Level, max out the Battle Pass to Tier 100, add another Prestige Key or two to your collection, and complete every Season Challenge in Multiplayer and Zombies while you can. If you’ve already achieved the title of Prestige Master this season, congratulations: you’ve earned it. If you’ve still got some grinding to do, there’s never been a better time than now.
SEASON THREE INCOMING
With the final week of Season Two Reloaded drawing to a close, an all-new season of content is just around the corner… and Adler’s time is running out.
After falling for Naga’s diversion in Laos, Woods and his team have been thrown off the scent just long enough to allow Stitch to continue his master plan for Adler. All signs point to Verdansk.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Treyarch devs give update on return & behavior of Cold War Blueprint Mods
An update has been provided on the status of CoD: Cold War’s Blueprints as a Treyarch dev addressed their return and how they work.
One of Treyarch’s devs has confirmed that Custom Blueprints will be savable soon and explained that players are able to select attachments that they haven’t officially unlocked.
Modern Warfare & Warzone debuted a hugely useful feature that allowed players to save the attachments they’d used for a weapon as a Custom Blueprint. It could then be applied to any applicable weapon and be a real time-saver.
Treyarch finally welcomed it into Cold War, but it got off to a rocky start as a problem was found with the system, and Treyarch has had to disable it for maintenance. It’s now back online, and players can mix and match attachments, but can’t save them as a Blueprint to use across all weapons.
One of Treyarch’s devs has reassured CoD players regarding its absence, and also answered a common question regarding the nature of Cold War’s Custom Blueprint system.
On April 9, Treyarch Tweeted out about the Custom Blueprint system going live in Cold War saying, “Mix and match attachments from Blueprints of the same weapon type to create your own custom Blueprints.”
It was taken down on the same day, before normal service was resumed 24hrs later.
With regards to saving Custom Mods, a post on the Black Ops Cold War subreddit looked to discuss this matter, with Treyarch dev Josh “FoxhoundFPS” Torres even providing an update.
He said, “Glad you were able to discuss this with Activision Support. This is intended functionality and will allow for Custom Blueprint Mods once we reactivate. Mixing and matching are encouraged where applicable.”
So it will be live again sometime soon, Treyarch just clearly needs time to make sure the process is working properly before reactivating it.
Gunsmith Customs allows locked attachments?
The original topic for discussion actually concerns how the game makes use of locked attachments for weapons.
Reddit user les-miserable-man said, “Correct me if I’m wrong, but you can now equip attachments that you haven’t unlocked yet. To test this, I purchased the “Entrenched” bundle from the store that included the “KGB Skeletal Stock” attachment for the AK-47. I can now equip this attachment to my base AK (not the Blueprint it came with from the store) even though I have not unlocked the base attachment?”
The user updated their own post saying that they had spoken to Activision confirming that “this is intended behavior.”
So if one of your weapons is Level 10, and you buy a bundle containing a Blueprint with a Level 40 attachment, you’ll be able to use that attachment now using the Gunsmith.
You should at least have time to find what works for you before Season 3 starts, and you can try and unlock more attachments anyway with the scheduled Double XP event to conclude Season 2.

How to change your username in Call of Duty: Warzone & Cold War
Ever wanted to change your Activision ID? Here’s how to change your username for free in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
Activision lets you change your Call of Duty username free of charge, so here’s how to set a new display name in Warzone and Black Ops Cold War.
Changing your display name on PlayStation and Xbox can sometimes be costly, but in Call of Duty, you can change your name as many times as you like. This will only affect your CoD name, so you can keep your Gamertag or PlayStation ID for other games.
Your Activision ID will be your username followed by a hash mark (#) and a series of numbers. This means you can set your name to be whatever you like without having to worry if the name is already taken.
Activision also allows you to change your username for free. You’ll get a new name change ticket every six months but you can only carry two at a time.
Here’s how to change your username in Warzone and Black Ops Cold War.
How to change your Call of Duty username
If you’d like to change your Call of Duty username for Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Black Ops Cold War, here’s how to do it.
To change your Call of Duty username in-game:
- Launch Call of Duty: Warzone or Black Ops Cold War
- Press ‘Options’ on the home screen
- Navigate over to ‘Account’
- Select ‘Activision Account’
- Hit ‘Change Display Name’
- Enter your new username and hit ‘Confirm’
You can also change your Call of Duty username online, so here’s how:
- Sign in to your Activision Account
- Hover over your username in the top right corner
- Click on ‘Basic Info’
- Select ‘Edit’ beside your Activision ID
- Type in your new username
- Hit ‘Save’
How to report offensive Call of Duty usernames
While Activision automatically blocks offensive usernames, players can sometimes get past this by using special characters or abbreviations. If you spot an offensive username in-game, Activision lets you report them.
To report a players username or Clan Tag:
- Press ‘Y’ on Xbox or ‘△’ PlayStation to open the Social tab / select the Social tab on PC
- Select ‘Recent Players’
- Highlight the player you wish to report and select them
- Hit ‘Report Player’
- Select either ‘Report Username’ or ‘Report Clan Tag’
With hackers still running rampant in Warzone, you can also report cheaters through this same method.
That’s everything you need to know about changing your Call of Duty username – you’ll only get a new ticket every six months so choose your name wisely!
