Black Ops Cold War dev confirms fix coming for Mastery camo bug

Treyarch has confirmed an overhaul for the appearance of the Mastery Camos in Black Ops Cold War in the next major update, saying the disappointing design is the result of a bug.

Dark Matter is a time-consuming and tricky grind. Weapons level up significantly slower in Black Ops Cold War than previous CoDs, and some weapons clearly outshine others. The most hardcore players are grinding to get their hands on Dark Matter, with some unlocking it just weeks after launch.

Fans have been disappointed with the appearance of the Mastery Camos, though. Except for Diamond, the unique camos only cover some parts of the weapons while leaving the rest plain. For the amount of time it takes to complete these challenges, you want to be able to show off your rare camo.

Treyarch is aware of this issue. On the Official Trello Board, Treyarch posted that they have also spotted the “unintentional changes to Mastery Camo display.”

Fixes coming soon

“After our most recent update, some weapons began to display certain Mastery Camo differently,” the Trello card read. “We are looking to release a fix for this is in our next major update.”

So don’t let the appearance put you off working towards the camos. Treyarch has now revealed that the next major update will be on December 16, with the beginning of Black Ops Cold War x Warzone Season 1.

With a 24/7 playlist of Nuketown ’84 and double weapon XP currently being in the game, more and more players will be unlocking Gold, Diamond, and Dark Matter over the coming weeks.

Treyarch also addressed other problems with camos and Challenges. If you resume the game from a suspended state, weapon camo and challenges may appear to be locked. If you restart your game, you will be able to see your correct progress.

The developers have also discussed the power of the Perk Flak Jacket.

This Perk allows you to survive a direct hit with an explosive. This makes it extremely difficult to get kills with launchers for the Mastery Camo challenges if a player is running Flak Jacket.
