Black Ops Cold War Easter Egg hints at return of a classic Zombies map

One of BOCW’s new maps contains an Easter Egg hinting that an old Zombies map is set to make a reappearance. Located in Season 1’s The Pines map, the Easter Egg could be a precursor of things to come.

After a long, hard day of work, it’s refreshing to sit back, relax, and blow the heads off of thousands of zombies. That’s what we find anyway, as Zombies can be a therapeutic endeavor that is slightly less taxing on the mind than competitive, online multiplayer.

Die Maschine, and Onslaught for PlayStation users, offers round after round of zombie-killing. But they might not be alone for too long if Treyarch’s new Easter Egg – discovered in The Pines – is anything to go by.

The Pines is a recent addition thanks to all the new Season 1 content that has also bridged the gap between BOCW and Warzone. The map has everything you could expect to find in a mall as it has multiple shops selling a range of items, but it also has an arcade too.

Inside the arcade you can find a whole host of games and specialist pinball machines. When you’re knee-deep in a heated, intense multiplayer match, it can sometimes be hard to stop and take in your surroundings.

But Twitter user Elliot Dunn has managed to capture a screenshot that simultaneously acknowledges the ghosts of Call of Duty’s past and suggests that they may rise again.

The pinball machine is titled “Der Eisendrache” which is a Zombies map from CoD: Black Ops 3. Call of Duty is notorious for sticking in random Easter Eggs, so this could merely be a nod to one of Black Ops’ Zombies maps.

Or it could be a subtle indicator that it may return in a future update. We’ve already received nostalgia in the form of Raid and Nuketown since Black Ops Cold War’s release, so a reimagining of a previous undead hunting ground wouldn’t be a shock.
