What’s the best Sniper Rifle in Cold War Season 3? Every gun ranked & tier list

We’ve gone through CoD: Black Ops Cold War’s best Sniper Rifles, placed them in tiers, and ranked them from worst to best.

Published

There’s nothing more intimidating in a game of CoD than someone that can pop you with one squeeze off their Sniper Rifle’s trigger. So here is all the Black Ops Cold War Season 3 Sniper Rifles split into tiers and ranked from worst to best.

Sniper Rifles have a long history with Call of Duty as they’ve been a mainstay since the series debuted. Their defining period came during the Modern Warfare 2 days when the rise of social media turned methodical Marksmen into 360, no-scoping, human-highlight reels.

Fast-forward to 2021, and Black Ops Cold War continues to buck the trend with some powerful guns for players to master. Despite offering a more limited serving of Sniper Rifles compared to other classes, the Cold War Snipers can still offer as much accuracy and firepower as any gun that Cold War or Warzone has to offer.

Also check Black Ops Cold War Season 3’s best Assault Rifles, best SMGs, best Pistols, best LMGs, best Tactical Rifles, and best Shotguns ranked too!

CoD: Black Ops Cold War: weapon tier list

We’re going to take a moment to assign each of Cold War’s Sniper Rifles an official tier before we place them in order. We understand there aren’t many, but nevertheless, it must be done.

Here is our official tier list of all of Black Ops Cold War’s Sniper Rifles:

  • S-Tier: LW3 Tundra, Swiss K31, ZRG 20mm
  • A-Tier: Pelington 703
  • B-Tier: M82
  • C-Tier:

Just to explain the system, our S-Tier weapons are the top-of-the-line powerhouses, the A-Tier are great, the B-Tier weapons are just missing something, and C-Tier ones are not worth your time.

CoD: Black Ops Cold War best Sniper Rifles

5. M82

cod black ops cold war m82 sniper rifle

The only semi-auto Sniper Rifle in the game at present, and it comes with the usual ups and downs that these varieties of Sniper Rifle usually have.

If you’re someone who struggles with accuracy, then the M82 will not help with that too much. Its erratic recoil from repeated, consecutive shots in a short span of time makes it hard to control. It certainly has the firepower to make it an effective gun, but its element of unpredictability drops it down the list.

4. Pelington 703

cod black ops cold war pelington 703 sniper rifle

It’s snappy, has great range, quick ADS, and solid damage, so what’s wrong with it?

For one thing, it’s not always a one-shotter like you hope it would be. Given that Assault Rifles and SMGs can just keep peppering a target with shots if the first few haven’t gotten the job done, a bolt-action Sniper Rifle quickly becomes impractical if it needs a second shot to eliminate someone.

3. LW3 Tundra

At the end of the day, if you’re using a Sniper Rifle, you want something punchy and satisfying to use, the Tundra LW3 meets these criteria with ease.

Whereas the Pelington is less likely to one-shot an opponent, especially below the midriff, the LW3 is a far more consistent K/D raiser. It gives you more confidence and belief that if you land your shot then the enemy will crumble instantly.

2. ZRG 20mm

cod cold war sniper rifle season 3 ZRG

When it turned up on the scene, it was instantly the most powerful Sniper Rifle in Black Ops Cold War, bar none.

Getting hit by this thing will put an end to anyone that has the gaul to face off against it. It’s the kind of gun that everyone wants to use, and no one wants to face. If we had to be critical, it’s that its reload speed and time between shots is a tiny bit too slow.

1. Swiss K31

swiss k31 cod cold war sniper rifle

The Swiss K31 has no problems with which to speak. Any faults with the previous Sniper Rifles on this list are all solved by one single gun.

This gun absolutely smashes the opposition to bits, but unlike any other brutes on this ranked list, the K31 is quick. Very quick. Not only can you use this from any distance, but it can even be used up close as its speed allows for supreme quickscoping potential too.

Check out our best CoD: Cold War quickscoping class too!

That completes our list. These are the best Sniper Rifles ranked in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Be sure to check out the best guns in Cold War and the best guns in Warzone too!

Best quickscoping loadout for CoD: Cold War Season 3

Quickscoping is one of the most fun ways to play CoD, so here’s everything you need to quickscope in Black Ops Cold War Season 3.

Cold War S3 quickscoping class

To master the art of quickscoping in CoD: Black Ops Cold War Season 3, equip our best Swiss K31 loadout with attachments and perks.

There’s no better way to flex your skill in a final killcam than hitting a nasty three-piece with a Sniper Rifle. Quickscoping montages are how some of Call of Duty’s biggest brands such as OpTic and FaZe had their start, after all.

Quickscoping has remained viable, difficult, and fun to this day, but you’ll need the best class to do it. Black Ops Cold War Season 3 has plenty of maps and opportunities for snipers to dominate, so here is the best weapon, attachments, and perks to quickscope in Black Ops Cold War.

Best Swiss K31 quickscoping attachments

Stitch quickscoping Cold War Season 3
  • Barrel: 24.9″ Tiger Team
  • Body: Tiger Team Spotlight
  • Magazine: 8 Rnd Mags
  • Handle: Serpent Wrap
  • Stock: Raider Pad

When quickscoping in Black Ops Cold War, you want to run Season 3’s new Swiss K31 as the weapon is almost designed for quickscoping.

This Swiss K31 is built exclusively for speed, allowing you to take out multiple targets in quick succession. Aim for the chest while quickscoping with this loadout as it’s an easier target to hit, and it will guarantee you a one-shot kill at almost any range.

The 24.9″ Tiger Team vastly improves in the Swiss K31 in almost every way. Before you unlock this barrel, you’ll land a lot of hit markers but after equipping it, you’ll have no problem getting One Shot, One Kill medals. You’ll find your K31 does more damage, fires faster, reloads quicker, and is more accurate.

BOCW Swiss K31

You need your reaction time to be at a maximum while quickscoping, so you can’t take the second to decide if you really did see the enemy. The Tiger Team Spotlight will mark enemies for you, putting your reaction time at a maximum.

To hit multiple shots in quick succession, you want to go for a bigger magazine. The 8 Rnd Mag is perfect, as you have more than enough shots to take out the other team in 6v6 game modes without any major downsides. However, you should bear in mind that the Tiger Team barrel will reduce the mag size to six shots.

To further increase the Swiss K31’s speed, you want to add the Serpent Wrap and Raider Pad. Together, these attachments will vastly increase your ADS and sprint to fire time, hitting your shots before the enemy can take you out.

With the Lawbreaker Wildcard equipped, pair this K31 with the new PPSH-41 and you’ll be hard to beat, or you can have fun with the Ballistic Knife.

Best perks for quickscoping in BOCW

Black Ops Cold War Tactical Mask perk
  • Perk 1: Tactical Mask
  • Perk 2: Scavenger
  • Perk 3: Gung-Ho

The one weapon class that suffers from stun grenades and other equipment with disorientating effects is Sniper Rifles. So the Tactical Mask will help make immune to their effects.

You don’t get that much ammo with a Sniper Rifle, so Scavenger will help you to stock up, whilst Gung-Ho will allow you to reload while sprinting, as well as change weapons faster.

How to unlock the Swiss K31 in Cold War

Black Ops Cold War Swiss K31

The Swiss K31 requires little effort to unlock with budding Marksmen able to get their hands on it at Tier 31 of the Season 3 Battle Pass. Play games of Cold War and take look at our Battle Pass leveling guide, and you’ll be quickscoping with this rifle in no time.

Best alternatives to the Swiss K31 in Cold War

If you haven’t unlocked the Swiss K31 yet, or it isn’t working out for you, then you can try some of CoD: Cold War’s best Sniper Rifles instead. The Pelington 703 is the next best thing, or you can choose the very popular LW3 Tundra for extra damage.

Best Swiss K31 loadout for CoD: Cold War Season 3

Black Ops Cold War Season 3’s new Swiss K31 Sniper Rifle is fast and powerful, so here are the best attachments and perks to run with it.

Cold War Swiss K31 Sniper Rifle

The Swiss K31 is Black Ops Cold War’s new, fast Sniper Rifle. It’s ideal for quickscoping, so here are the best attachments and perks to run with it in Season 3.

As with all new seasons of Call of Duty, there are new weapons for players to level up and use across Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. For Season 3, we’ve been treated to the Ballistic Knife, the classic PPSH-41, and the all-new Swiss K31 Sniper Rifle.

The Swiss K31 is designed to be fast. It has a rapid ADS time, as well as quick bolt time, and plenty of bullets in the mag to boot.

We’ve put together the best attachments and perks to run with the Swiss K31, which will make it perfect for quickscoping.

Best Swiss K31 loadout in Cold War Season 3

Black Ops Cold War Swiss K31
  • Barrel: 24.9″ Tiger Team
  • Body: Tiger Team Spotlight
  • Stock: Raider Stock
  • Magazine: 8 Rnd Mag
  • Handle: Airborne Elastic Wrap

This Swiss K31 is built for quickscoping on Cold War’s smaller maps, but it also packs enough punch to hit some nice longshots.

To start, the 24.9″ Tiger Team barrel completely transforms the Swiss K31. It deals much more damage, so you’ll be able to kill full-health players in only one shot to the chest. To spot enemies at further ranges and in dark corners, the Tiger Team Spotlight will increase your Reveal Distance.

To vastly speed up your sprint to fire time and ADS speed, you should run the Raider Stock and Airborne Elastic Wrap. You’ll be able to scope in before the enemies can react, allowing for rapid quickscope kills.

And to give you a few more shots, you should run the 8 Rnd Mag. However, the Tiger Team barrel will reduce this mag size to six, which is still the perfect amount.

Best perks to run with the Swiss K31 in Cold War Season 3

Flak Jacket Perk Cold War

We recommend running the Perk Greed Wildcard with the Swiss K31, as you’ll get to equip two perks in each slot.

  • Perk 1: Flak Jacket & Tactical Mask
  • Perk 2: Scavenger & Assassin
  • Perk 3: Gung-Ho & Ghost

Lethal and Tactical Equipment will often be the death of you, so Flak Jacket and Tactical Mask will keep you alive no matter what the enemy throws at you.

There’s nothing worse than running out of ammo, so Scavenger will allow you to resupply ammo from dead bodies. And then, you can use the Assassin perk for some extra score when killing enemies on Scorestreaks.

And finally, Gung-Ho will increase your mobility further, letting you reload on the fly, as well as swap weapons faster. To pull off effective flanks, Ghost will keep you hidden from UAVs too.

How to unlock the Swiss K31 in Cold War Season 3

Swiss K31 in Cold War

The Swiss K31 is simple to unlock – you simply need to hit Tier 31 in the Season 3 Battle Pass.

It’s also completely free. So play games of either multiplayer, Zombies, or Warzone, and follow our guide on ranking up the pass quickly.

Best alternatives to the Swiss K31 in Cold War

The Swiss K31 excels at quickscoping at close-medium range. If you haven’t unlocked it yet, Cold War provides some other snipers that will be well worth running in Season 3.

The ZRG 20mm is the polar opposite, being slow but dealing an incredible amount of damage. And for something in the middle ground, you can never go wrong with the LW3 Tundra.

If battle royale is more your cup of tea, you can check out the best Swiss K31 loadout for Warzone.
