Sometimes BOCW’s gunplay can sometimes disappoint, this is the case for one player and his misbehaving Magnums that miss their target at close-range. An incredible video shows a big problem with either the Magnums or the game itself.
The ongoing conversation about Call of Duty’s server issues and gameplay instability will only intensify with examples such as this one. Gamers are always complaining about lag and how latency clearly affects the game.
Hit registration is a common bone of contention that has been around since the early days of online gaming. But cases like this can really underline how bad the issue really can be.
BOCW Magnums inaccurate or hit-detection issues?
Every gun in Treyarch’s Black Ops Cold War is basically supposed to have its own identity, strengths and weakness, and individuality. From damage output, to recoil patterns, to weight, amongst other things.
But when the gun, or in this case guns, are flat out not working, then it’s easy for the player to become frustrated. This was the case for Reddit user shabooga628 as he not only gained the upper-hand on an enemy player but was seemingly punished for doing so.
In the gameplay clip, shabooga628 equips their Akimbo Magnums and storms into one of Nuketown’s buildings. Once inside, they catch sight of an enemy camping in a corner and smell an easy kill.
Our gamer goes straight up to their prey and unloads a powerful round straight into their head, only the bullet misses. After quickly realizing the kill had not registered, shabooga628 returns to the enemy and fires four more bullets at the unaware player’s head.
The first three shots incredibly don’t register, and even when the fourth (five in total now) finally hits, it still doesn’t even deliver a killing blow. This allows the enemy to finally realize they’re under fire and they turn around to gun down our player instantaneously.
This is the kind of clip that would infuriate anyone because it’s a “been there and done that” kind of clip. But there seems to be no lag and it’s ridiculous that four shots could miss from point-blank distance.
It suggests that there is an issue with the game’s coding for particular weapons or maps, but it’s a problem either way.

Treyarch devs give update on return & behavior of Cold War Blueprint Mods
An update has been provided on the status of CoD: Cold War’s Blueprints as a Treyarch dev addressed their return and how they work.
One of Treyarch’s devs has confirmed that Custom Blueprints will be savable soon and explained that players are able to select attachments that they haven’t officially unlocked.
Modern Warfare & Warzone debuted a hugely useful feature that allowed players to save the attachments they’d used for a weapon as a Custom Blueprint. It could then be applied to any applicable weapon and be a real time-saver.
Treyarch finally welcomed it into Cold War, but it got off to a rocky start as a problem was found with the system, and Treyarch has had to disable it for maintenance. It’s now back online, and players can mix and match attachments, but can’t save them as a Blueprint to use across all weapons.
One of Treyarch’s devs has reassured CoD players regarding its absence, and also answered a common question regarding the nature of Cold War’s Custom Blueprint system.
On April 9, Treyarch Tweeted out about the Custom Blueprint system going live in Cold War saying, “Mix and match attachments from Blueprints of the same weapon type to create your own custom Blueprints.”
It was taken down on the same day, before normal service was resumed 24hrs later.
With regards to saving Custom Mods, a post on the Black Ops Cold War subreddit looked to discuss this matter, with Treyarch dev Josh “FoxhoundFPS” Torres even providing an update.
He said, “Glad you were able to discuss this with Activision Support. This is intended functionality and will allow for Custom Blueprint Mods once we reactivate. Mixing and matching are encouraged where applicable.”
So it will be live again sometime soon, Treyarch just clearly needs time to make sure the process is working properly before reactivating it.
Gunsmith Customs allows locked attachments?
The original topic for discussion actually concerns how the game makes use of locked attachments for weapons.
Reddit user les-miserable-man said, “Correct me if I’m wrong, but you can now equip attachments that you haven’t unlocked yet. To test this, I purchased the “Entrenched” bundle from the store that included the “KGB Skeletal Stock” attachment for the AK-47. I can now equip this attachment to my base AK (not the Blueprint it came with from the store) even though I have not unlocked the base attachment?”
The user updated their own post saying that they had spoken to Activision confirming that “this is intended behavior.”
So if one of your weapons is Level 10, and you buy a bundle containing a Blueprint with a Level 40 attachment, you’ll be able to use that attachment now using the Gunsmith.

How to change your username in Call of Duty: Warzone & Cold War
Ever wanted to change your Activision ID? Here’s how to change your username for free in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
Activision lets you change your Call of Duty username free of charge, so here’s how to set a new display name in Warzone and Black Ops Cold War.
Changing your display name on PlayStation and Xbox can sometimes be costly, but in Call of Duty, you can change your name as many times as you like. This will only affect your CoD name, so you can keep your Gamertag or PlayStation ID for other games.
Your Activision ID will be your username followed by a hash mark (#) and a series of numbers. This means you can set your name to be whatever you like without having to worry if the name is already taken.
Activision also allows you to change your username for free. You’ll get a new name change ticket every six months but you can only carry two at a time.
Here’s how to change your username in Warzone and Black Ops Cold War.

How to get the Ray Gun in Black Ops Cold War Zombies
Follow our easy guide to get your hands on the most powerful weapon in CoD: Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies modes.
You can’t have Call of Duty Zombies without having the most powerful weapon to feature in the franchise. The Ray Gun is back, and here’s how you can equip it in Black Ops Cold War.
It’s single-handedly the reason why so many Zombies players have lost thousands upon thousands of points to the Mystery Box. It’s the reason why Zombies players have been able to reach Level 100+ in Zombies. The Ray Gun is simply unstoppable – and you need it.
The fast rate of fire combines nicely with the gun’s supremely overpowered nature which probably makes the Ray Gun the most powerful weapon in CoD. Whether if it’s to blast a group of Zombies in a confined space in Die Maschine, or you need some serious crowd control in Cold War’s Outbreak mode.
Here are a few ways that you obtain your very own Ray Gun.
Where is the Ray Gun in CoD: Cold War Season 2?
Ray Gun Method #1 – Die Maschine Coffin Meme Easter Egg
An easy way to get yourself a Ray Gun is to complete Die Maschine’s Coffin Easter Egg. The viral meme was Black Ops Cold War’s first proper Zombies Easter Egg to do, and upon completion, gamers can earn some great rewards.
One of those rewards can be a Ray Gun, and although it’s not a guarantee by any means, this is an effective way to increase your chances of securing one. If you’re unsuccessful, you’ll still be rewarded with points and various other necessary resources.
You can read a full guide here on how to do the Coffin Dance Easter Egg.
Ray Gun Method #2 – Aether Crystals
When entering the Dark Aether, you will notice strewn about the place some shiny purple crystals emanating a mystical aura. You will want to make the most of your time in this realm by smashing as many of these as you can.
Aside from points, these crystals also have the ability to drop a free Perk or two, and if you’re really lucky – a Ray Gun. It’s extremely unlikely they will, but keep smashing and hope for the best.
Ray Gun Method #3 – Mystery Box
The original way of picking up a Ray Gun is still as tried and tested as its original appearance back in Call of Duty: World At War.
As usual, it’s the same as trying to earn the Jackpot on a slot machine, it could take you 5 spins, it could take you 50. But that’s a lot of points to be throwing away on probable Sniper Rifles and various other weapons useless for Zombie-killing.
If you’re later in the game and have points to spend, or just simply crave a Ray Gun, then find one of the Mystery Box locations.
Ray Gun Method #4 – Outbreak Golden Loot Chest
One of Outbreak’s exclusive ways of securing a Ray Gun are the very rare Golden Loot Chest’s that can only be obtained by completing a side mission.
Here’s how to find and complete the side mission:
- On your map, look for a symbol that looks like a cloud with a lightning bolt striking a chest
- Approach the chest and hold the prompted button to activate the side quest
- Lots of Zombies will now teleport into your location
- You need to keep killing them until they stop spawning
- Once you’re certain the area is clear, approach the Golden Loot Chest and hold the use button
- It will spew a host of rewards, including the Full-Power ability, and hopefully a Ray Gun
