Black Ops Cold War player encounters nightmare rave glitch in Firebase Z

One player’s game of Firebase Z took a weird turn when their game glitched and Black Ops Cold War descended into a crazy, nightmarish rave.

Firebase Z is Black Ops Cold War’s newest take on zombies and one player found that their game had begun to glitch, turning the map into a weird rave.

It’s hard to imagine that something could make Firebase Z even freakier than it already is. Hordes of rampaging zombies chasing you is difficult, the newly-incorporated Mimics are vile, but how about all of this whilst the map is messing with your mind?

That was the situation that one Zombies player had to endure as part-way through their game another layer of weirdness was added.

Reddit user BombasticBop was presumably looking to have a great game of Firebase Z: trying to build the RAI K-84, Pack-a-Punching it, and then completing the Easter Egg.

We don’t think he could have foreseen just how bizarre his game was about to become.

From the second the video clip begins, the screen was already flashing furiously, and a large number of colors were pulsatingly in nearly every section of the screen. It also seemed to add a disturbing horror film aesthetic to the footage as well.

The player continued to move through the area as the map continued to degenerate into something seen in Insidious or Paranormal Activity. They even turned around one final time before heading to Firebase Z, and the starting area resembled a malfunctioning disco floor.

Even after they headed through the teleporter, it didn’t make any difference as the base continued to take BombasticBop on a trippy, abnormal variation of Firebase Z.

*Potential epilepsy warning

We’ve previously seen other Black Ops Cold War texture glitches that have turned Raid into Rainbow Road and also let players control the weather in the game.

This one is a striking one as it’s so consistent throughout the whole map. It legitimately adds an extra element to Zombies and doesn’t even look too out of place. In any event, it’s a strange one that Treyarch may need to look at in the future.

Treyarch has made some big changes to Black Ops Cold War Scorestreaks in Season 2

The Season 2 update of Black Ops Cold War & Warzone has led to Treyarch changing some of the game’s most notable Scorestreaks.

cod bocw season 2 scorestreaks

Some significant changes have been made to several of Black Ops Cold War’s biggest Scorestreaks in Season 2, thanks to Treyarch.

Scorestreaks are one of, if not, the most effective ways of turning the tide in Call of Duty. A team can find itself being absolutely decimated by the other team in Team Deathmatch, but only one player needs to step up to change the game.

One well-coordinated attack later and you’re in control of a Gunship that is leveling the other team mercilessly. Treyarch did expand upon the game’s large repertoire of Scorestreaks recently with the addition of the new Death machine scorestreak.

Now they have made some interesting changes that could alter the dynamics of Call of Duty in Season 2.

Not one, not two, but three of Black Ops Cold War’s Scorestreaks have been tinkered with. Their firepower and potency have not been reduced, but more so the conditions required to obtain them.

These are the Scorestreaks in question that have been changed, and by how much.

  • Air Patrol: Originally cost 2700 points, now costs 2400
  • Attack Helicopter: Originally cost 5000, now costs 4500
  • VTOL Escort: Reduced cost 7000, now costs 6500

Whilst some of these don’t appear to be gargantuan reductions, an extra 500 points off the usual cost really could be the edge that a team needs.

Arguably the weakest of the three scorestreaks is Air Patrol, as it’s a less attack-minded scorestreak and even when the time calls to use it, it can be difficult to take full advantage of.

The two most noteworthy revisions come in the form of the Attack Helicopter and the VTOL – especially the latter. The Attack Helicopter is your classic, personal, roaming sky sniper that will pick off enemies. It’s a great scorestreak for the price, but it can be susceptible to launchers as you have no control over who, or what, it fires at.

We believe the biggest difference-maker is going to be the VTOL, which was already undervalued when compared to its damage capabilities. 7000 was always a very attainable score if you went on a decent streak and dabbled in the objective, but now it’s very achievable.

It’s hard to say why Treyarch has singled out these particular streaks, or why they’ve decreased the points needed. It’s not even the only change they’ve made as Season 2 has also welcomed a Shot Tracker System, and allowed players to view their Operator and weapon more closely.

In any event, the Black Ops Cold War skies could be about to become a lot busier.

Black Ops Cold War players call for changes to Prestige Master Icons

Players are calling for change after their purchased Prestige Icons are locked until they reach Prestige Master in Cold War Season 2.

BOCW Season 2 emblems

Players can’t use their purchased Prestige Icons in Black Ops Cold War Season 2 until they reach Prestige Master. This has left a sour taste in their mouths, forcing them to call for change.

Black Ops Cold War’s Prestige Shop is designed to combine the traditional Prestige system with the new seasonal progression. For every Prestige a player hits in a season, they will unlock a Prestige Key which they can spend on classic icons, emblems, and calling cards from previous Call of Duty games.

You can only purchase and use these icons once you hit ‘Prestige Master’ at level 200. Because progression has been reset for Black Ops Cold War Season 2, players have lost access to their purchased icons, and they’re not happy.

A post by Reddit user dgadano called out Treyarch, asking: “so you are telling me that I leveled up 200 levels, got my custom prestige icons and now I can’t use them til I level up 200 levels again?”

As reaching level 200 takes a considerable amount of playtime, some players may not have reached the Prestige Master until the end of the Season. As a user in the comments explains: “I spent so long the last two weeks grinding from level 100 to 200 just to unlock my favourite black ops 2 prestige icon and now I can’t even use it?”

For those who have grinded to unlock the Legacy Icons, it’s a kick in the teeth for them to be taken away at the start of the new season.

Players in the comments have reported progression has been considerably slower this season than last, so leveling up and getting access to already-purchased items again may take even longer in Season 2.

As the Prestige Level has been raised this season, it’s likely that the intention was for Season 2’s Prestige Icons to be used until players have hit Prestige Master. However, players who have spent time and effort unlocking their favorite icons are understandably frustrated and would like it changed.

Best LC10 loadout for Black Ops Cold War Season 2

The LC10 SMG is an incredibly strong choice in Cold War Season 2, so here are the best attachment and perks to run with it.

black ops cold war LC10

The LC10 is the latest addition to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s SMG category, being added in the Season 2 update. Here are the best attachments and perks to maximize its potential in multiplayer.

As part of Black Ops Cold War Season 2, the LC10 is unlocked at Tier 31 of the Battle Pass. While also a strong choice in Warzone, the LC10 has the potential to dominate the close-range engagements of Cold War’s multiplayer.

The fire rate is moderate compared to Season 1’s extremely popular MAC-10, so fans of the AK-74u and MP5 will feel more at home when using it. To maximize the LC10’s potential in Cold War’s multiplayer, we’ve compiled the best attachments and perks you can run with it.

Best Cold War LC10 class

  • Muzzle: Muzzle Break 9
  • Barrel: 13.9” Task Force
  • Laser: Steady Aim Laser
  • Stock: Raider Stock
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Ammunition: STANAG 55 Rnd
  • Rear Grip: Airborne Elastic Wrap

This LC10 is built for mobility and accuracy, allowing you to quickly navigate the map without being restricted to point-blank range engagements.

The Task Force Barrel will vastly improve the LC10’s damage and range but will negatively affect its accuracy. To combat this, we’ve added the Muzzle Break 9 and Field Agent Grip to greatly reduce the recoil. Even if the enemy is a little further out, you’ll be able to challenge them with the LC10. It’s also worth adding the Steady Aim Laser for extra accuracy at point-blank range.

The Raider Stock and Airborne Elastic Wrap will make you significantly more mobile, allowing you to strafe shoot and ADS extremely fast. And to allow you to fight for longer without reloading, we’ve also added the STANAG 55 Round magazine.

This LC10 class has been built with the Gunfighter Wildcard equipped so you can use every attachment slot. If you’d rather use Greed for more perks, you should remove the Steady Aim Laser and Muzzle Break 9.

Best perks for Cold War’s LC10

Perk 1: Flak Jacket

When trying to hold a Hardpoint or capture a Domination flag in Black Ops Cold War, expect a bombardment of explosives to come your way. With Flak Jacket equipped, you’ll render the enemies’ explosives almost useless.

Perk 2: Scavenger

Scavenger perk bocw

There’s nothing worse than running out of ammo and scrambling to find a useable weapon on the ground. With Scavenger, you’ll be able to replenish your ammo from dead players, allowing that Scorestreak to keep going.

Perk 3: Ninja

As SMGs are best suited for close-quarters combat, you’ll be able to utilize audio cues to survive.

With the Ninja perk equipped, your footsteps will be quietened, so enemies won’t hear yours and you’ll be able to hear theirs even more clearly.

The LC10 is a well-balanced SMG in Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer, so work towards unlocking these attachments and you’ll have no problem winning gunfights.
