Black Ops Cold War players call for major buff to “weak” C58
The C58 is Black Ops Cold War’s latest Assault Rifle that came with the Season 4 Battle Pass, and players have noted that the gun is in serious need of a major buff due to its unsatisfactory performance.
Black Ops Cold War did not have a new Assault Rifle in Season 3, but Treyarch rectified that in Season 4 with the brand-new C58. This gun has a low fire-rate, but impressive damage, bullet velocity, and recoil control.
While all those features should make for a fun weapon, various players have noted that that weapon isn’t performing well and asking the developers to give the “weak” Assault Rifle a major buff soon.
Reddit user z_and_t vented their frustration with the weapon in the Black Ops Cold War subreddit. The player leveled the weapon up to level 32 but was underwhelmed by its performance, then decided to shelve it until it gets a buff.
“I can’t see it getting any better even with the late level unlocks,” wrote the user. “What a bummer, I was looking forward to a slow-firing heavy-hitting AR other than the AK. This pile of crap may be one of the worst weapons in CoD history.”
The main issues are that the C58 has no hit marker if the enemy is right in front of you, and the first three bullets do no damage to the opponent is within 20m of you. The fire-pause when you start shooting has also irked various fans.
The comments were filled with other players that shared the same complaints. “It’s kind of funny how bad it is,” wrote one user. “It is either bugged, or they have plans for a massive buff because as is it is unusable.”

As the C58 has a relatively slow fire rate, it’s exceedingly difficult to land every shot. We’ve built a C58 Loadout for recoil control and damage range in Warzone Season 4 if you are looking for a solid build for the Assault Rifle in the Call of Duty battle royale.
There is no doubt that plenty of players are hoping the developers will provide the Season 4 weapon with a major buff shortly, which could come with the highly anticipated nerf for the MG 82 LMG.
