Black Ops Cold War Prestige System: Seasonal, Master Ranks

We’ve finally got the full details on the progression system for Black Ops Cold War.

Treyarch has finally announced the details on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s progression system.

As part of the first announcement on November 5 with Warzone’s unified progression details, Treyarch revealed a ‘new Prestige’ system is coming to the game.

In a detailed blog post on the Treyarch site, the studio has now unveiled further details on exactly what this “new Prestige” system is.

The system features Seasonal Prestige ranks, Prestige Master Ranks, and more combined together for an ultimate experience. This new progression path will be available in Black Ops Cold War, Warzone, and Modern Warfare.

Here’s the details from Treyarch:

As always, part of that launch day experience is starting the player progression journey from level 1 to 55 to unlock new Create-a-Class content. During the Beta, we showed players a slice of what to expect up to level 40. Today, we’re here to go into the full details behind our deepest Prestige system yet in Black Ops Cold War.

THE EVOLUTION OF PRESTIGE

We’ve heard from countless community members who live for the “grind,” putting in the time and effort to earn unique Prestige Icons with each new milestone and showing off their Prestige Level to the rest of the world. We know the thrill of chasing the coveted title of Prestige Master, and the bragging rights that come along with it with each new game.

We’ve also seen a significant portion of players – including veterans of the Black Ops series who’ve been with us for a long time – who often choose not to Prestige because they don’t want to lose access to the Create-a-Class content that they worked so hard to unlock by reaching level 55. Plus, with post-launch Seasons now delivering their own leveling paths in Warzone, we’ve heard from players who want to see their progress continue across Seasons in even more meaningful ways.

With all of this feedback in mind, our designers set out to create a new progression system that builds upon all the elements that players have come to love about Prestige, with some exciting new advancements:

  • Earn progress toward more Prestige Levels than ever before without losing any of the content you’ve already acquired.
  • The best of both worlds: there’s always a new goal to pursue andyour progress toward Prestige keeps growing across Seasons.
  • Each new Season offers more Prestige milestones, new seasonal challenges to unlock, and more rewards to earn.

We call this new system Seasonal Prestige, and it starts with the launch of Black Ops Cold War. Here’s everything you need to know.

SEASONAL PRESTIGE: OUR DEEPEST PROGRESSION YET

Starting on Day One in Black Ops Cold War, players will begin the traditional progression path from Military Rank 1 to 55 to unlock new weapons, Perks, Wildcards, Scorestreaks, Field Upgrades, equipment, and more… and that’s just the beginning. Beyond this point, your Seasonal Prestige journey begins at Season Level 1.

After completing Military Ranks at Level 55, you’ll enter the Seasonal Leveling progression path and automatically earn your first Prestige at Season Level 1, keeping all of the Create-a-Class content you’ve unlocked already. During the Pre-Season period between launch and the beginning of Season One, you’ll have the opportunity to reach up to three Prestiges, as well as a Weapon Blueprint at Season Level 50:

  • Prestige 1 at Season Level 1
  • Prestige 2 and Weapon Blueprint at Season Level 50
  • Prestige 3 at Season Level 100

Then, starting with Season One in December, your level will reset with each new Season and your progress will resume from the highest Prestige you achieved in the previous Season. Each Season will offer four additional Prestiges to achieve across the first 200 levels, plus a new Weapon Blueprint to earn at level 50:

  • New Prestige and Weapon Blueprint at Season Level 50
  • New Prestige at Season Level 100
  • New Prestige at Season Level 150
  • New Prestige at Season Level 200

This means you can earn up to three Prestiges before Season One, and up to four Prestiges each Season after that for a total of 25+ Prestiges across all Seasons. You’ll always earn progress toward the Prestige that comes after your current one, and you’ll be able to catch up to the latest available Prestige if you didn’t reach it during the previous Season.

SHOW OFF YOUR MASTERY

If you reach level 200 in any Season, you’ll also achieve the title of Prestige Master for that Season. Your Prestige Level color will change to signify your Prestige Master status, and you’ll gain the ability to personalize your Prestige Icon with Legacy Prestige Icons from previous Call of Duty games that you’ve unlocked (more details on that below).

The journey doesn’t stop there if you want to keep climbing. Once you reach Prestige Master in a Season, you can continue to level up all the way to level 1000 every Season, with milestone rewards to earn at every 50 levels along the way.

With the Seasonal Prestige system, you’ll always have a single, continuous progression path across all Seasons, with more Prestige rewards to earn than ever before.

So, how does this compare to the traditional Prestige system in previous games? To summarize:

  • 25+ Prestige Levels to conquer across all Seasons (including the period between launch and Season One), instead of only 10 Prestiges to earn.
  • Six Prestige Master titles to earn by reaching level 200 in each Season, rather than only one opportunity throughout the entire game.
  • 1000 levels to climb in each Season, for when Prestige Master isn’t enough of a challenge.
  • Milestone rewards to earn at every 50 Season Levels.
  • For the first time, keep all of your Create-a-Class content after you Prestige.

SEASON CHALLENGES

Also beginning in Season One, new Season Challenges will provide even more ways to earn rewards throughout each Season. These will offer two collections of 20 Calling Cards per Season in Black Ops Cold War (20 for Multiplayer and 20 for Zombies), with new Challenges ungated in both collections at every 10 levels up to level 200.

Once a Season Challenge is ungated, it may be progressed and completed to earn its related Calling Card. After a player earns all Calling Cards in a collection, they will receive an animated Season Master Calling Card as a reward. Collect ‘em all!

PRESTIGING IS KEY

In addition to unlocking unique Prestige Icons with each new Prestige Level, you’ll also earn Prestige Keys as milestone rewards at every 50 Season Levels. At the new Prestige Shop, you can use Prestige Keys to unlock Legacy Prestige Icons from previous games, which can be equipped if you’ve achieved the title of Prestige Master in that Season.

The Prestige Shop will become available in Season One for players who have entered Prestige and earned their first Prestige Key. Prestige Shop content can only be unlocked with Prestige Keys, which are earned by playing the game. Once you unlock the Prestige Shop, it will be available from that point on – and with 1000 levels available per Season, you can reach up to 20 milestones each Season.

Milestone rewards can also include Battle Pass Tier Skips to unlock more Battle Pass system content for use in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. And speaking of Warzone, we’ve got more good news…

A NEW GLOBAL LEVELING SYSTEM

Best of all, this new player progression system will expand beyond Black Ops Cold War later this year. Starting with Season One in December, Seasonal Prestige will become the new leveling journey across Warzone and Modern Warfare, with all players starting on this new progression path without losing any previously earned content.

Players will also be able to unlock new content for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone through the Battle Pass system whether they’re playing Black Ops Cold WarWarzone, or Modern Warfare. For more intel on how progression will work across all three games and all the ways Black Ops Cold War will integrate into the future of Warzone, visit the Call of Duty Blog.

Best AUG loadout to use in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

The AUG is one of the strongest weapons in Black Ops Cold War, so use these attachments and perks to maximize its potential.

Published

on

The AUG is arguably one of the meta weapons in Black Ops Cold War, so here are the best attachments and perks to maximize its potential in multiplayer.

The AUG appeared as an Assault Rifle in the original Black Ops and as an SMG in Modern Warfare. In Black Ops Cold War, it comes as a burst-fire Tactical Rifle. With a fast fire-rate and high damage, it’s capable of killing a player in one burst at almost any range.

With the Gunfighter Wildcard equipped, the AUG can carry eight attachments, maximizing its potential for all situations. Here are the best attachments and perks to run with it.

Best Black Ops Cold War AUG loadout

  • Optic: Millstop Reflex
  • Muzzle: SOCOM Eliminator
  • Barrel: 18″ Rapid Fire
  • Body: Ember Sighting Point
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Foregrip
  • Magazine: 45 Rnd Drum
  • Handle: Airborne Elastic Wrap
  • Stock: Marathon Stock

This AUG loadout takes full advantage of its one-burst potential with increased fire rate and accuracy.

For optics, it’s mostly up to you. We’ve had the most success with the versatility of the Red Dot Sights but if you want to be stronger at range, consider using a higher optic. To ensure you can take down multiple enemies without reloading, you should add the 45 Rnd Drum magazine.

To reduce recoil and keep your burst shots accurate, you should run the SOCOM Eliminator muzzle attachment and Field Agent Foregrip. These attachments combined will give a huge reduction to vertical recoil. This is vital to ensuring that all shots in a burst hit the target, increasing the one-burst potential.

Due to this weapon being so powerful as is, the only barrel you need is the 18″ Rapid Fire. This gives a 13% increase to the fire rate, allowing you to either quickly finish the target with a second burst or take out multiple enemies in quick succession. There are no negative attributes to using this barrel, making it the best choice.

The Ember Sighting Point torch gives the AUG a boost to both its long and close-range potential. The torch reveals enemies, which makes it especially effective when players blend into the environment. It also increases hip-fire accuracy by 30%, helping you out in a tight spot.

To counter the weight of these attachments and speed it up, you should add the Airborne Elastic Wrap and Marathon Stock. These increase both your ADS and sprint-to-fire time. When moving around the map or quickly snapping onto a sniper glint at range, weapon speed is vital.

Best perks for Black Ops Cold War AUG

Flak Jacket

With the power of explosives in Black Ops Cold War, Flak Jacket is vital. When attacking a point, there are only so many places you can be, so expect a barrage of explosives coming at you.

One Semtex or Grenade could be enough to bring you down, and you especially don’t want a random grenade ending your scorestreak.

Scavenger

There’s nothing worse than running out of bullets mid-fight, and the Scavenger perk will allow you to keep supplying as the match progresses. With Scavenger equipped, you can keep hold of your AUG all match without having to swap it out for a weapon with more ammo.

Ninja

When running around the map with the AUG, being silent will give you an extreme advantage. Whether flanking an objective or clearing out a building, having the enemies not being able to hear you will give you an easy multi-kill.

And as a bonus, having quiet footsteps means its unlikely the enemies will hear you.

The AUG is currently one of the strongest weapons in Black Ops Cold War, so try it out with these attachments and perks for yourself.

Call of Duty League 2021 Stage 1 groups & fixtures revealed

The groups for Stage 1 of 2021’s Call of Duty League have officially been announced, alongside the fixtures for the coming weeks.

Published

Call of Duty League 2021 Stage 1 begins on February 11, and at the CDL Kickoff Classic, the groups and fixtures for this first stage were officially announced.

While it was fun seeing the new 4v4 rosters facing off against each other in the Kickoff Classic event, perhaps the most important part of the weekend was seeing Stage 1’s group selection take place.

Before the highly-anticipated OpTic Chicago v LA Thieves show match, we saw members and owners of each CDL team choose who would be playing in opposing groups, officially revealing the Stage 1 groups.

Here are the groups going into CDL 2021 Stage 1, how they were chosen, and what this first stage will look like.

CDL 2021 Stage 1 groups

Group AGroup B

LA ThievesOpTic Chicago
Minnesota RØKKRFlorida Mutineers
London Royal RavesToronto Ultra
New York SublinersLA Guerrillas
Seattle SurgeParis Legion

How the CDL Stage 1 groups were chosen

In a slightly confusing format described as a ‘reverse snake draft,’ teams chose who would play in the opposing group.

As the top two teams from CDL 2020, Dallas Empire and Atlanta FaZe were placed into different groups, A and B. Teams then picked who would be competing in the opposing group, beginning with Dallas Empire.

Dallas Empire, last year’s champs, chose first, and then FaZe chose after. The selection process went like this:

  1. Dallas Empire chose OpTic Chicago for Group B
  2. FaZe chose LA Thieves for Group A
  3. OpTic Chicago chose Minnesota RØKKR for group A
  4. LA Thieves chose Florida Mutineers for Group B

Teams continued to choose teams turn about until each group had been decided.

Atlanta FaZe Home Series

Each stage consists of three Home Series weekends, with Atlanta FaZe hosting the opening weekend on February 11. Group A will be playing on Thursday and Saturday, with Group B playing on Friday and Sunday.

It kicks off with newcomers LA Thieves going against Minnesota RØKKR, and champs Dallas Empire taking on Seattle Surge.

After getting knocked out by Atlanta FaZe in the 2020 semi-finals, OpTic Chicago (formerly Chicago Huntsmen), will be looking to settle the score on Sunday. To add further rivalry, FaZe’s Arcitys played for the Huntsmen in last year’s league.

You can check out the fixtures for the entirety of Stage 1 on CallofDutyLeague.com.

The top two teams from Stage 1 will have first pick in Stage 2, which is set to begin on March 18.

Black Ops Cold War Zombies Firebase Z: release date, setting, new perk, more

Black Ops Cold War Zombies’ second map, Firebase Z, will launch during Season 1. Here’s everything we know about the new map.

Published

on

Black Ops Cold War season 1 brings a new Zombies map, Firebase Z. Here’s everything we know about Cold War Zombies’ second map.

Firebase Z, also called Outpost 25, is the brand new Zombies map coming to Black Ops Cold War during Season 1.

Set in the jungle of Vietnam, Firebase Z continues the storyline that started in Die Maschine. As described in Activision’s blog, “with the destruction of the WWII-era “Projekt Endstation” site after investigating the otherworldly Dark Aether anomaly in Poland, Requiem now sets its focus on the latest Dark Aether outbreak site: Outpost 25, known by the code name “Firebase Z.”

A picture uploaded by Treyarch in their 115 Day blog post gives us a grainy, aerial view of the map. However, like any Zombies map, expect many more areas to be discovered when Firebase Z drops.

When does Cold War Zombies Firebase Z map release?

The new Black Ops Cold War Zombies map, Firebase Z, is set to launch on February 4 and will be free for all players.

It comes during Season 1, as part of teased new Zombies maps and modes that were announced in the roadmap. In the weeks leading up to its launch, a reveal trailer and more information surrounding the zombie-infested firebase will be revealed.

Tombstone perk coming to BOCW Zombies

Along with the launch of Firebase Z comes the return of an old perk: Tombstone.

If you don’t know already, when downed, Tombstone will allow you to “become a shadow in the Dark Aether armed with your weapons that can revive you.” Be careful though, “if your shadow loses all its health, you die.”

New to Black Ops Cold War Zombies, perks can be upgraded. Spending Aetherium Crystals will grant Tombstone the following upgrades:

  • Tier I – Shadow form can regenerate health.
  • Tier II – Increase downed duration to 60 seconds.
  • Tier III – On death, drop a Tombstone stash that saves your weapons, equipment, and resources.

Tombstone will be available through its perk machine in Firebase Z on February 4, and can also be purchased through the Der Wunderfizz machine in Die Maschine.

Can you still play Die Maschine?

Die Maschine will still be available to play in Black Ops Cold War Zombies.

We know this through the confirmation that the Tombstone perk will be available to purchase through the Der Wunderfizz machine on Die Maschine on February 4.

Treyarch provided a friendly reminder that if you haven’t discovered all of the in-game intel hidden on Die Maschine and Onslaught yet, you should try to find it all before the story moves on. It will be crucial to understanding the overarching Zombies story.

Keep an eye on this article, as we’ll update it with every new piece of information we learn about the upcoming Black Ops Cold War Zombies map, Firebase Z.
