We’re approaching the end of Season 1 and clues for the future of Warzone have started appearing in Verdansk, including mysterious Zombies machines.
Here’s everything we know about Black Ops Cold War x Warzone Season 2, including a release date, weapons, Operators, and a possible open-world Zombies mode.
Black Ops Cold War & Warzone Season 2 release date
As confirmed by Activision in the official trailer for Black Ops Cold War x Warzone Season 2, the new season will launch on February 25.
For the season rollout, there will be two major patch updates for both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
The first will drop for Black Ops Cold War on February 23 between 9PM and 11PM PT. The second will drop for Warzone on the following day, February 24, between 9PM and 11PM PT.
The Season Two content will not be available for Black Ops Cold War until the Warzone update on February 24. The Season officially launches February 25, but if you’re in the pacific time zone, you’ll get into the action late February 24.
This new season will be free for all players across Warzone and Black Ops Cold War and will feature a new battle pass, weapons, operators, maps, and more.
New Cold War & Warzone Season 2 Operators
The Season 2 trailer has unveiled a new Operator: Naga.
Fighting for the Warsaw Pact, we see Naga in touch with Season 1 Operator Stitch regarding Adler’s capture before being attacked by Woods’ squad.

More information about this new Operator will likely be revealed on the run up to Season 2.
There were also a few more never-before-seen characters in the trailer, so it’s possible they will be available through the store in the future.
New Black Ops Cold War & Warzone weapons
From the Season 2 trailer, we can spot several upcoming weapons for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
Mini-Gun
Warzone players are all-too familiar with the power of the Mini-Gun, especially when Juggernauts ran rampant around Verdansk. Now, it looks like we’ll get to experience the Mini-Gun in Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer, as it’s seen used in the trailer.
It’s highly likely that the Mini-Gun will be a Scorestreak similar to the War Machine.
Galil
Continuing the trend of including new variations of classic Black Ops weapons, it appears the Galil will make an appearance in Season 2. Expect this fan-favorite Assault Rifle to be extremely popular in both multiplayer and battle royale.
Crossbow
Being heavily featured in the Season 2 trailer, it’s confirmed that the crossbow will be coming to Black Ops Cold War. It’s likely that it will be a secondary weapon in the ‘Special’ category along with the Thumper.
So, who’s rocking double Crossbows in Warzone?
New SMG
Also spotted in the trailer is a new SMG believed to be the AI-LC10.
We don’t have many details on the SMG yet, but if it’s anywhere near the MAC-10s power, we might be in for a new meta in Season 2.
New Warzone map for Season 2
While Season 1 gave us the smaller side-map Rebirth Island, Warzone players have been hankering for a new main map to replace Verdansk. Since Warzone’s launch, Verdansk has hardly changed at all, so either some significant changes or a new map entirely will be more than welcome.
It’s all-but-confirmed that the next map to hit Warzone will be ‘Ural Mountains.’ This is the map for Cold War’s Fireteam game mode, and Verdansk was first shown in Ground War, Modern Warfare’s equivalent large-scale mode.
While there isn’t any official confirmation yet, all signs point towards Ural Mountains being the next Warzone map.
As Warzone’s one-year anniversary takes place during Season 2, it’s entirely possible the new map will be dropped then, perhaps in the mid-season update.
New multiplayer maps in Cold War Season 2
There isn’t any word on what new multiplayer maps will be coming to Black Ops Cold War in Season 2, however, we can expect a mixture of remakes and brand new maps.
The jungle area from the Season 2 trailer will likely be made into a map, similar to how The Pines was included in the Season 1 cinematic.
Following on from Black Ops 2 maps Raid and Express being added to Cold War, we’re hoping to see Standoff or Firing Range added.
New Zombies maps & mode in Cold War Season 2
After finishing the Easter Egg for Firebase Z, the Ural Mountains are mentioned in the cutscene. This is the area that all Fireteam maps are within and is all-but-confirmed to be the next Warzone map.
With zombie machines being included in Verdansk, and the next Warzone map mentioned in Cold War’s Zombies game mode, it’s highly likely that the next Zombies map will be set in the Ural Mountains.
Further teasers by Treyarch make it increasingly likely that if Warzone does go to the Ural Mountains, it will be for the rumored ‘Outbreak’ open-world Zombies mode.
With Warzone heading there too, it would be interesting to see Activision combine the two game modes into one map.
That’s everything we know so far about Black Ops Cold War x Warzone Season 2, so stay tuned to Charlie INTEL as more information will be coming in soon!
