Black Ops Cold War x Warzone Season 1 is nearing its end, so here’s the release date and everything else we know about Season 2.

Update 2/18/21: More information regarding the content of Season 2 and roadmap has been revealed by Treyarch. Read below for information regarding the release time for the new season, and click here for more up-to-date information.

Season 1 of Warzone and Black Ops Cold War brought the two games together, adding every weapon from Black Ops Cold War to Warzone’s already plentiful arsenal.

We’re approaching the end of Season 1 and clues for the future of Warzone have started appearing in Verdansk, including mysterious Zombies machines.

Here’s everything we know about Black Ops Cold War x Warzone Season 2, including a release date, weapons, Operators, and a possible open-world Zombies mode.

Black Ops Cold War & Warzone Season 2 release date

As confirmed by Activision in the official trailer for Black Ops Cold War x Warzone Season 2, the new season will launch on February 25.

For the season rollout, there will be two major patch updates for both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.

The first will drop for Black Ops Cold War on February 23 between 9PM and 11PM PT. The second will drop for Warzone on the following day, February 24, between 9PM and 11PM PT.

The Season Two content will not be available for Black Ops Cold War until the Warzone update on February 24. The Season officially launches February 25, but if you’re in the pacific time zone, you’ll get into the action late February 24.

This new season will be free for all players across Warzone and Black Ops Cold War and will feature a new battle pass, weapons, operators, maps, and more.

New Cold War & Warzone Season 2 Operators

The Season 2 trailer has unveiled a new Operator: Naga.

Fighting for the Warsaw Pact, we see Naga in touch with Season 1 Operator Stitch regarding Adler’s capture before being attacked by Woods’ squad.

More information about this new Operator will likely be revealed on the run up to Season 2.

There were also a few more never-before-seen characters in the trailer, so it’s possible they will be available through the store in the future.

New Black Ops Cold War & Warzone weapons

From the Season 2 trailer, we can spot several upcoming weapons for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.

Mini-Gun

bocw mini-gun

Warzone players are all-too familiar with the power of the Mini-Gun, especially when Juggernauts ran rampant around Verdansk. Now, it looks like we’ll get to experience the Mini-Gun in Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer, as it’s seen used in the trailer.

It’s highly likely that the Mini-Gun will be a Scorestreak similar to the War Machine.

Galil

Continuing the trend of including new variations of classic Black Ops weapons, it appears the Galil will make an appearance in Season 2. Expect this fan-favorite Assault Rifle to be extremely popular in both multiplayer and battle royale.

Crossbow

bocw crossbow

Being heavily featured in the Season 2 trailer, it’s confirmed that the crossbow will be coming to Black Ops Cold War. It’s likely that it will be a secondary weapon in the ‘Special’ category along with the Thumper.

So, who’s rocking double Crossbows in Warzone?

New SMG

bocw new smg

Also spotted in the trailer is a new SMG believed to be the AI-LC10.

We don’t have many details on the SMG yet, but if it’s anywhere near the MAC-10s power, we might be in for a new meta in Season 2.

New Warzone map for Season 2

While Season 1 gave us the smaller side-map Rebirth Island, Warzone players have been hankering for a new main map to replace Verdansk. Since Warzone’s launch, Verdansk has hardly changed at all, so either some significant changes or a new map entirely will be more than welcome.

Ruka map black ops cold war ural mountains

It’s all-but-confirmed that the next map to hit Warzone will be ‘Ural Mountains.’ This is the map for Cold War’s Fireteam game mode, and Verdansk was first shown in Ground War, Modern Warfare’s equivalent large-scale mode.

While there isn’t any official confirmation yet, all signs point towards Ural Mountains being the next Warzone map.

As Warzone’s one-year anniversary takes place during Season 2, it’s entirely possible the new map will be dropped then, perhaps in the mid-season update.

New multiplayer maps in Cold War Season 2

There isn’t any word on what new multiplayer maps will be coming to Black Ops Cold War in Season 2, however, we can expect a mixture of remakes and brand new maps.

new bocw multiplayer map

The jungle area from the Season 2 trailer will likely be made into a map, similar to how The Pines was included in the Season 1 cinematic.

Following on from Black Ops 2 maps Raid and Express being added to Cold War, we’re hoping to see Standoff or Firing Range added.

New Zombies maps & mode in Cold War Season 2

After finishing the Easter Egg for Firebase Z, the Ural Mountains are mentioned in the cutscene. This is the area that all Fireteam maps are within and is all-but-confirmed to be the next Warzone map.

BOCW zombies

With zombie machines being included in Verdansk, and the next Warzone map mentioned in Cold War’s Zombies game mode, it’s highly likely that the next Zombies map will be set in the Ural Mountains.

Further teasers by Treyarch make it increasingly likely that if Warzone does go to the Ural Mountains, it will be for the rumored ‘Outbreak’ open-world Zombies mode.

With Warzone heading there too, it would be interesting to see Activision combine the two game modes into one map.

Modern Warfare Sniper Attachment Black Ops Cold War Warzone

Raven Software teased in the latest set of patch notes for Warzone that an equivalent to a popular Modern Warfare sniper attachment could be coming to Black Ops Cold War snipers in the Call of Duty battle royale.

May 7, 2021, was an exciting day for Warzone, as Raven Software applied the latest update to the game that made a significant amount of changes.

The Warzone developers also took the time to tease some upcoming changes to Modern Warfare weapons and the mysterious arrival of a Black Ops Cold War version of a fan-favorite Modern Warfare sniper attachment.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Sniper

This tease of a Black Ops Cold War version of an “immensely popular” Modern Warfare sniper attachment came under the changes for Combat Recon barrels for Black Ops Cold War snipers in the May 7, 2021, Warzone patch notes.

“As we continue assess the place of Cold War snipers within Warzone, we realize there is much work to be done. In addition to improving the overall efficacy of these weapons and attachments, we will also be taking a close look at their optics,” said Raven Software.

“This includes addressing attachment pros where there are few, if any, use cases,” Raven Software continued. “In specific… we may see a Cold War equivalent to an immensely popular Modern Warfare sniper attachment very soon.”

It remains to be seen what Modern Warfare sniper attachment Raven Software is teasing could potentially come to Black Ops Cold War snipers.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Sniper

The developer made a specific reference to the optics of the Cold War snipers, so perhaps an equivalent of a Modern Warfare optic for the long-range weapons could be coming to the Black Ops ones.

Still, there is also a possibility that it could be a Cold War version of the popular Modern Warfare tac laser attachment.

We will update this article with any new information regarding what this possible mysterious Cold War version of a popular Modern Warfare sniper attachment could when new information is made available.

Best CARV.2 loadout for CoD: Cold War Season 3

CoD: Black Ops Cold War Season 3 has added the new CARV.2 burst-rifle, so here’s the best loadout for it with great attachments and perks.

Published

cod cold war CARV.2

The burst rifle meta is back with the CARV.2. The newly-added gun looks to unseat the AUG and M16 as the king of Black Ops Cold War, and here’s the best loadout for it with perks and attachments.

After a sustained period of dominance, burst weapons were recently nerfed and have dented the usability of Tactical Rifles in Call of Duty.

Both Cold War and Warzone have seen the likes of the M16 and AUG suffer as a result, but the CARV.2 is a mean rebel that wants to restore the class’s integrity.

Here’s how to make a powerful, laser-precise CARV.2 class in Black Ops Cold War Season 3.

Best CARV.2 attachments for Cold War Season 3

cod cold war season 3 carv
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Muzzle: Infantry Compensator
  • Barrel: 22.5″ Task Force
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Foregrip
  • Handle: Airborne Elastic Wrap

We’re gonna swap out Cold War’s CARV’s decent iron sights for our old favorite, the Axial Arms 3x optic for increased magnification. Next up is the Infantry Compensator as the burst nature of the spread sends the gun upwards, so reducing vertical recoil is key.

Now, we’ve opted for the 22.5″ Task Force barrel as even though it comes at the detriment of accuracy, the nerfing of burst weapons is negated slightly by the power of this barrel.

We’re normally a big advocate of the Field Agent Foregrip, but it’s even more crucial here to restore some of the accuracy sacrificed by the barrel. Finishing off our CARV.2 loadout is the Airborne Elastic Wrap as it’s a must for ADS and flinch resistance, giving you an edge in a 1v1.

Best perks to run with the CARV.2 in Cold War Season 3

cod cold war gung-ho perk

We’ve opted for the Perk Greed Wildcard, meaning you get an additional perk for each slot.

  • Perk 1: Flak Jacket, Paranoia
  • Perk 2: Assassin, Quartermaster
  • Perk 3: Ghost, Gung-Ho

Flak Jacket is still the undisputed king of perks as it basically gives you an impenetrable shield. The CARV.2 is less of a run and gun weapon, so we just want to be more aware of our surroundings with Paranoia.

We’re confident that kills will come easy with the CARV.2, so equip Assassin for more points, and use Quartermaster to drop more Gas Mines.

Finally, Ghost is great for keeping you quiet, and Gung-Ho is perfect for quickly switching to another weapon for close-range encounters.

How to unlock the CARV.2 in Cold War Season 3

cod cold war carv burst gun

As with most new weapons, there is a certain challenge requirement that needs to be fulfilled first.

To unlock the CARV.2 you’ll need to either:

  • “Using Tactical Rifles, rapidly kill 2 or more players in 10 different completed matches” in Cold War or Warzone’s multiplayer.
  • “Using Tactical Rifles, get 250 Longshot kills” in Zombies.

Best alternatives to Cold War’s CARV.2

If you’re not up to the CARV.2, then the AK-47 is another bludgeoning ranged weapon, whereas the LC10 shreds up close.

Ranking the 10 best Call of Duty maps ever

In nearly 20 years of Call of Duty games, which maps do we consider to be the absolute best? Find out as we rank the top 10 CoD maps ever.

Published

best cod maps ever

After playing Call of Duty games for so many years, it’s often crossed our mind, which is the best CoD map of all time? So we’ve gone through them all, and come up with what we believe to be the 10 best ever, and ranked them.

Between Infinity Ward, Treyarch, Sledgehammer Games, and Raven Software, the franchise’s main developers have created some astonishingly good maps over the years. Some have stood the test of time, with some becoming recurring features in multiple CoD games.

We decided to take the unenviable task of going through every single Call of Duty online multiplayer map and trying to pick the top 10 ever. Some CoD games don’t feature at all, and that doesn’t necessarily mean they were bad games, it’s just that some did it better.

Here is our official ranking of Call of Duty’s 10 best maps ever.

10. The Pines

cod map the pines

Black Ops Cold War probably won’t go down in the annals as an all-time great, but it’s had plenty of highspots, including The Pines.

A throwback to a certain, classic 1980s film, The Pines has a great environment to explore with frantic battles in shops, lots of verticality, several perch-type spots, and the middle of the map is very accessible thanks to walls and its fountain.

Also, see where it ranked on our list of the best Black Ops Cold War maps!

9. Highrise

cod map highrise

Modern Warfare 2 gave birth to the craziness of 360 no-scoping, quickscoping, and various other ridiculous sniping tricks that would become permanently etched in the early days of YouTube.

Lots of players we know now got their start using Highrise to climb to fame, and that’s also because it’s a great map. You can always use either building to become engaged in heated battles and use them for range before inevitably flying down to the rooftop below for even more conflict.

8. Bloc

cod map bloc

On the other hand, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s Bloc is probably the finest example of a sniping map in the series’ storied history.

Its predominant feature is the two opposing, war-torn apartment blocs that are quite literally set up for a battle of Sniper Rifles. It’s always great fun moving from window to window and changing floors to vary your attack. If that wasn’t your thing, then Bloc has plenty of avenues to storm both buildings and move around the edges of the map to ambush.

7. Rust

cod map rust

Before “1v1 me in the Gulag“, there was Rust. Taking the idea of a small map from CoD4’s Shipment, Rust still manages to create a small playground but added so many possibilities.

From its stairs-esque shaft to the ladder taking you to the top, there are so many ways you could get the jump on your opponent. Rust also has a myriad of crevices to move around in, making this tiny map feel massive.

6. Rammaza

cod map rammaza

Rammaza is not only a bright spot in an otherwise divisive 2019 Modern Warfare reboot, it’s also just a classic Call of Duty map.

With three different levels of fighting possible, a multitude of different ladders and stairs to allow fluid traversal, Rammaza is just big enough and has all its obstacles in the right place. It’s a great map on any game mode and one that we’d definitely like to see return.

5. Strike

cod map strike

There isn’t a wasted space in quite a sizable Strike map. The spawn points are well-hidden and it doesn’t feel bare in any parts.

It has several key spots such as the iconic middle building, the kitchen area, the houses near each spawn, and there are genuinely so many different ways to play it. Search & Destroy was a particular delight to play on Strike, and it’s aged very well.

4. Raid

cod map raid

Raid might be the most scenic and stunning map on this list with this luxurious hollywood home boasting incredible architecture, mega-expensive sports cars, and even its own basketball court.

The map just feels unique and underlines this by allowing you to swim under its pool. It’s well-connected by the middle’s garden area and again, firefights can literally take place anywhere on the map. It was one of Black Ops Cold War’s first classic maps to be added to the game, and that’s because it’s still incredibly popular to do this day.

3. Firing Range

cod map firing range

Another smaller map that manages to cram so much into it that it’s hard not to love. The concept is great as we’ve found ourselves on these practice ranges in multiple CoD games, so now actually trying to kill people on it feels apt.

Firing Range is a hotbed for high-scoring games, but unlike a map such as Nuketown, Firing Range feels fair and doesn’t feel like you’ll be spawn-trapped for multiple deaths in a row. It’s definitely the best “small” map in Call of Duty history and we’re sure we’ll be seeing it for multiple games to come.

2. Terminal

cod map terminal

To many, the top spot is always going to boil down between one of two maps, and our number two spot goes to Terminal. If the action had perhaps been locked down to only the outside or inside, then Terminal wouldn’t fair so well.

But thankfully it doesn’t, and it leads to lots of crazy matches with close-range combat, long-range sniping, and everything in-between. Terminal perfectly manages to capture the balance of gameplay, whilst providing a cool backdrop at the same time.

1. Crash

cod map crash

The best map honor goes to Crash. If the sight of that destroyed helicopter doesn’t make you feel nostalgic then you probably never played Call of Duty 4. Infinity Ward’s take on modern warfare changed first-person shooters forever, and Crash is symbolic of this.

Gone were the days of the arena shooter, Crash represented a new era of detailed, intricate, multi-channeled maps with new ways to play each time. Whether you stayed at the top of the street to snipe down a lane, or headed to the bottom to ascend the three-story building, Crash had everything and more to make a map you wanted to play time and time again.

Which is why we believe it’s the best map in Call of Duty history.
