Black Ops Cold War will feature cross play, free DLC, & Battle Pass

Published

Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will follow Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s feature set in providing fans with a joint experience.

Black Ops Cold War will feature cross play with all platforms – PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC. Players will be able to play with their friends regardless of platforms. And similar to Modern Warfare, player progression will transfer between all platforms.

Black Ops Cold War will feature cross generation crossplay support, with cross progression for all players to play together. The title features cross-play support across current and next generation systems with cross progression across all modes.

In addition, the company has announced that there is no Season Pass for Black Ops Cold War. All post launch MP map DLC will be free. Activision confirms a steady stream of content for MP, Zombies, and more to come throughout the post launch seasons.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will also offer a Battle Pass system and deliver a steady stream of free post-launch content, including multiplayer maps and modes, Zombies experiences along with a robust schedule of in-game community events.

And, the Battle Pass system introduced In Modern Warfare will return in Black Ops Cold War. Activision announced changed to monetization in their games with Modern Warfare in 2019, eliminating loot boxes in favor of a Battle Pass system.

Fans who order the Ultimate Edition of Black Ops Cold War will get Season 1’s Battle Pass Bundle when available.

Cold War devs respond to Zombies bug blocking 8 attachment Custom Mods

A Cold War Zombies bug has been blocking Custom Mods with over five attachments, and Treyarch has responded to the problem.

Cold War Zombies Outbreak

Black Ops Cold War Zombies players have been unable to equip Custom Mods with more than five attachments, and Treyarch have responded to the issue.

Custom Mods have arrived in Black Ops Cold War, allowing players to save their favorite attachment and Blueprint combinations. They can then quickly equip these Custom Mods in multiplayer, Zombies, and League Play.

However, a frustrating bug has been preventing players from using their Custom Mods equipped with eight attachments, and Treyarch has confirmed they are working to fix the issue.

BOCW Zombies blocking custom blueprints

When trying to equip a Custom Mod with eight attachments in Zombies, you will be met with a message that states players “Must equip Gunfighter Wildcard to equip a Custom Mod with more than 5 attachments.”

This message is designed for multiplayer to prevent players from bypassing the Gunfighter Wildcard by equipping a Custom Mod with eight attachments already on the game.

However, the problem is that Zombies doesn’t have Wildcards. This means that players can’t use their eight attachment Custom Mods, even though they can equip eight attachments through upgrading their weapon classes with Aetherium Crystals.

A concerned player asked Treyarch and their community manager, Josh “FoxhoundFPS” Torres, “is there any workaround or fix for equipping an 8 attachment Custom Mod in Zombies?” They also confirmed they had everything “fully tiered up,” unlocking eight attachment slots.

FoxhoundFPS replied, saying “Our team is aware of this issue and working toward a fix.” The issue hasn’t been added to their official Trello board so we don’t have a date for the fix being issued, but it is being addressed.

There is also no Gunfighter Wildcard in Warzone, which is a possible reason why Cold War Custom Mods can’t be taken into the battle royale, as the same issue as here would occur.

In the meantime, players will need to build their Custom Mods again when picking attachments before deploying to Die Maschine, Firebase Z, and Outbreak.

New leak claims fan-favorite Black Ops maps arriving in Cold War Season 3

A fresh leak is hinting at some new, fan-favorite maps coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in Season 3.

Treyarch could be set to bolster Black Ops Cold War Season 3 with all-new map remakes if a reliable source is to be believed.

A new season of Call of Duty is always exciting as it means that a whole new bundle of content is on the way. It does reach a point where the current maps have been played to death, and the game could do with a fresh lease of life.

This is why this potential leak could be great news for players as not one, but two new maps could be on the way to Cold War Season 3 in the form of Echelon and Standoff.

Map remakes have not been uncommon in Black Ops Cold War as we’ve already seen the likes of Raid, Nuketown, and Express be included in the game.

It was back in January that a major leak had confirmed the intent to add 8 new map remakes to Cold War throughout its life lifespan. Some of them have indeed been added, and now it looks like we’re set for two more if a Tweet from TheGhostOfMW is accurate.

As with all rumors, they usually originate from somewhere, pretty much from a reliable source. So it’s not crazy for this statement to be true.

Both of these maps would be welcome additions to Cold War and we’ve even made our own list of maps we’d like to see appear in CoD: Black Ops Cold War in the future.

As with all big rumors of this nature, we recommend you take it with a pinch of salt. But leaks have generally been reliable for the latest Call of Duty game, and we’ll wait to see what else is coming in Season 3.

It’s not clear which part of the map is shown behind her.

It’s also not confirmed yet as to how the leakers found the images, whether it was through data mining of certain game files or from another source.

For now, Activision has not officially confirmed or commented on these images.
