Black Ops Cold War will use PS5 DualSense adaptive triggers

Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers will make Cold War’s weapons feel more realistic.

The PS5 version of Black Ops Cold War will utilize the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback to make weapons feel more realistic.

In an interview with Gamespot, Black Ops Cold War’s lead game designer Tony Flame discussed improvements players will see and feel if playing Cold War on the new generation of consoles.

With the PS5 comes the new DualSense controller. This controller features haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Traditional rumble motors that provide controller vibration have been replaced with ‘dual actuators.’ The controller now responds to what you’re doing in-game with dynamic vibrations which “simulate the feeling of everything from environments to the recoil of different weapons.”

Adaptive triggers help you feel physically connected to your on-screen actions. Pulling the trigger will feel different depending on what you do, from slamming on the brakes in a speeding car to “pulling back an increasingly tight bowstring.”

How it works in Cold War

Tony Flame told Gamespot how Black Ops Cold War has been designed to use the DualSense’s new features.

“The DualSense controller is pretty awesome. It’s got new haptic feedback so when you’re pulling the trigger, it’s shaking, every time a gun fires there is a little motor in there that’s firing every time,” Flame said.

“There is sensitivity on the trigger that represents the trigger pressure on a real weapon. All of that has been tuned in the game for each individual weapon. So it’s quite a lot to take in, but it’s pretty awesome, and it gives the guns a feeling like they’ve never had before.”

If you will be playing Black Ops Cold War on the PS4 and plan on upgrading to the PS5 at a later date, make sure to pick up the Cross-Gen Edition. For $15 more, you will automatically own the PS5 edition of Cold War when you upgrade your console. You will be able to take advantage of the PS5 edition’s haptic feedback and graphics boost.

Black Ops Cold War leaks suggest the return of this fan-favorite perk

The first batch of upcoming Black Ops: Cold War perks have been leaked, suggesting this fan-favorite perk could return.

Datamined images from the files of Black Ops Cold War reveal new perks that may be coming to the game.

In a post by dataminer TheGhostOfMW2, it appears that two perks are hidden away in the game’s code that may be coming to Black Ops Cold War in a future content update.

Most notably, it appears that the first perk (pictured to the left) is Lightweight, a returning perk from several Call of Duty titles.

Some may think at first glance the perk is Marathon (which gave players unlimited sprint), but since Black Ops Cold War comes with built-in unlimited sprint, this perk would be useless in the game.

A common complaint for Black Ops Cold War is the sprint speed, so having lightweight would be a welcome addition to the perk 3 category. If true, the perk 3 category would consist of the following perks:

  • Cold Blooded
  • Ninja
  • Gung-ho
  • Spycraft
  • Ghost
  • Marathon

As for the perk pictured on the right, no one knows exactly what it could be. Some have speculated it could be the return of the “Team Link” perk from Black Ops 4, that would allow you to see enemies your teammates have spotted on your mini-map.

This theory comes from the icon having a sword, just like how the Team Link perk did in Black Ops 4 (pictured below).

We doubt that this would be the perk, though, considering Forward Intel is in the same perk 1 slot and gives you the locations of where enemies spawn, on top of making your mini-map larger.

If these perks were added in the future, they would be the 6th perk for both the perk 1 and perk 3 slots. Perk 2 would still be left with 5 perks.

There’s no guarantee these perks will be added to the game, as they could be cut content from development. Of course, they could also be planned content coming later in the game’s lifecycle.

Treyarch has released a new map in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, free for everyone.

The new map & more is live as part of the new in-game update that went live in Black Ops Cold War on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

To celebrate the return of Nuketown, Treyarch has added in Nuketown 24/7 playlist so that fans can experience this new map exclusively for a limited time.

GLOBAL

Cold War glitch removes bushes from Cartel and players love it

Bushes have long been a complaint from the Black Ops Cold War community, and one lucky player got a taste for the map without them.

A glitch in Black Ops Cold War removed the bushes in Cartel for one lucky player, and the community agrees that it’s a major improvement.

The bushes in the center of the map Cartel have been an issue since the Cold War Beta. Dense foliage surrounds the B flag, completely conceals prone players, and leads to easy eliminations on unsuspecting enemies.

This makes pushing the B flag on Domination extremely high risk. Due to this, much of the action on Cartel occurs in the hangar and down by the river on either side of the map.

One lucky user encountered a glitch where the bushes had vanished.

Trimming the hedges

Reddit user ‘CapAustria‘ shared a glitch they experienced in-game, which removed all the bushes from the map’s center.

The glitch only lasted for one game, and the bushes were only hidden at certain angles. This was likely due to textures failing to load-in, rather than a sneak peek at an upcoming update.

This post quickly gained traction on Reddit, with all of the top comments stating how much of an improvement this is compared to how the map currently looks. Although flashlight attachments help to spot players hiding in the foliage, most agree the map would be vastly improved without the bushes.

Players were concerned that removing the bushes, would create too much open space. With a sniper tower overlooking the center of the map, this would make the area even more of a ‘No Man’s Land.’

Instead, there is actually quite a bit of cover in the area that’s usually concealed by the foliage. In the screenshots, we can see hay bales, a wheelbarrow, and barrels dotted around this location.

With player visibility being a common complaint in Black Ops Cold War, it’s likely that trimming or removing the bushes would go down well with the community.
