Black Ops Cold War Zombies: Intel System & Learning Curve

Treyarch is bringing a new layer to Zombies experience in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Treyarch has worked hard with Black Ops Cold War Zombies to make it more accessible and bring more meaningful content to world.

There’s new intel system & new ways to bring in new players to the experience.

Here’s the breakdown.

Intel System

Treyarch’s Zombies team leads have said that there’s new intel to collect in the Zombies maps as players experience the story. Unlocking the intel will unravel new pieces to what’s coming in this new Black Ops Zombies world.

Players will be able to find audio logs, transmissions, artifacts, and ciphers as part of these intel drops to help you unlock more clues about what’s happening in the game.

The antagonists in the game are called the Omega Group. These intel documents will help you understand their story, what’s to come next, and more from Treyarch.

A interesting thing to note about the Intel is that Treyarch plans to add new intel to the Black Ops Cold War Zombies maps as new maps are added and as the post launch seasons progress.

Accessibility

Treyarch says that a key goal in designing the Black Ops Cold War experience was accessibility.

They want more players to experience the Zombies story, but many players feel overwhelmed by all of the challenges, hunts, and more to complete just to enjoy the experience itself. Right now, Treyarch says that majority of players don’t get past round 5 in Zombies. The mode is unforgiving in its design prior.

So, with Black Ops Cold War they wanted to allow more to enjoy the experience.

The Zombies team has wanted to adjust the curve so that’s it’s a lot smoother experience and allow players to come back more often.

The first step in this was a unified experience across the game. Multiplayer and Zombies have unified progression experience, so as you move from the modes, you’re bringing along all of the content.

In addition, Zombies features the same systems from MP: mini-map, score feed, objectives, ping system, and more to make it feel like you’re playing the same game, and not something different.

The mode is centered around core elements: kill zombies, upgrade weapons, get perks & power ups. And battle to get to the highest round.

Easter eggs & quests hunts that are built are still very important, but Treyarch says that core game loop is fun to play and independent of the Easter egg hunt. You don’t have to unlock the Easter egg to get to different rounds or access areas of the map.

They have a way to help players get to the Pack-A-Punch machine, before the curve starts to get challenging.

In addition, Zombies will get new content on a “very regular basis” because MP content can be used in the Zombies experience. Players can bring their MP Operators, weapons, and more to Zombies.

For those looking at post launch maps, there’s no info as to when new maps will be added for Zombies or how many maps will come post launch.

Black Ops Cold War Zombies launches with the game on Nov. 13.
