Black Ops Cold War leaker reveals possible League Play release date
The release of the ranked League Play mode is always a major topic among Call of Duty players, and one leaker has claimed we could be seeing it in the near future.
While conversations about skill-based matchmaking continue, it may come as a surprise that many players are actually calling for a Ranked Play mode built around the feature.
League Play first appeared all the way back in Black Ops 2, giving players a new mode to test their skills in competitive scenarios, and awarding them a rank based on their performance. Since then, games like Advanced Warfare, World War II, and other titles in the Black Ops series have included it too.
With Modern Warfare not featuring such a mode, a surprising omission considering the launch of the Call of Duty League, some have grown concerned that it may be a thing of the past. However, according to CoD insider Tom Henderson, that doesn’t appear to be the case.
Unfortunately, Henderson doesn’t have an exact date for the release, but was able to provide an approximate timeline according to his source. In a YouTube livestream on January 3, the leaker stated: “League Play is scheduled for this quarter, so between now and March.”
Henderson thinks it’s unlikely we will see it before Black Ops Cold War Season 1 ends, but we may be able to jump into the mode at the start of Season 2.

These claims match up with previous Ranked Play release dates, with Black Ops 4’s Ranked Play mode coming in February. You can watch Henderson’s video on the information below.

With the second season of the Call of Duty League set to kick off in the next few months, it would make total sense to drop Ranked Play in conjunction with the first weekend of competition, although that remains unconfirmed.
Activision Blizzard and Treyarch are yet to address the rumors, but make sure to check back to CharlieIntel for all the latest news on Ranked Play in Black Ops Cold War.
