Black Ops Cold War players discover secret John McClane MP5 easter egg
Black Ops Cold War received a new Operator in the form of John McClane from the Die Hard series, and now a few fans have discovered a fun easter egg on his MP5 SMG.
The 80s Action Heroes brought some exciting new content for CoD players to enjoy when it went live on May 20. This included classic 80s action movie heroes like John Rambo and John McClane.
Even though the developers closed the Nakatomi Plaza vault in Warzone, these skins remain in the game. Now, a few Black Ops Cold War players have discovered a secret John McClane easter egg on the MP5 SMG.
Reddit user BeefFlavorBubblegum highlighted this in a post in Black Ops Cold War’s subreddit. They showed a closer look at a white variant of the MP5, and some text was visible upon closer inspection.
It reads “Now I have a machine gun,” which is an obvious reference to the iconic elevator scene from the original Die Hard. The commenters enjoyed this neat little nod to the 80s action classic.
The Reddit user made it clear that you can only see this text if you apply certain camos to the weapon, and it won’t be visible with Gold or Diamond.
If you want to get your hands on the John McClane skin, then you can get this done by purchasing the Die Hard Bundle, which will remain available until June 18, 2021.
This bundle includes a “Legendary Operator, a Finishing Move, three Legendary Weapon Blueprints—one tactical rifle, two SMG, and one assault rifle—a Legendary Calling Card and Emblem, an Epic Watch, and an Epic Weapon Charm.”
