Black Ops Cold War will support Adaptive Triggers feature on PS5 DualSense

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was officially announced earlier this week for a launch on November 13 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The company also confirmed that the game will launch on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X when those consoles are available. The only details Activision provided on the next-gen version is that the game will feature ray-tracing, higher frame-rates, and faster load times, but did not expand on the feature support.

Now, we have confirmation of another next-generation PlayStation 5 feature for the game. An Activision developer has confirmed on ResetEra gaming forum that Black Ops Cold War will take advantage of PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller features.

The feature that has been confirmed is Adaptive Triggers. Here’s the note from the Activision Art Lead:

PlayStation has described the adaptive triggers feature on the DualSense as a way to allow developers to let players experience the tension of the game itself.

Here’s how PlayStation talks about the adaptive triggers feature:

Get to grips with immersive adaptive triggers, featuring dynamic resistance levels which simulate the physical impact of in-game activities in select PS5 games.

PlayStation shows some of the new DualSense features in action in their DualSense Controller Trailer, released back in June:

Treyarch has said in their ‘welcome back’ blog post posted on August 26 that they plan to announce next-gen features closer to launch.

We’ll also be taking advantage of the new technology and features that this year’s new generation brings to the table – watch for more info on that coming soon.
