Cold War devs respond to Zombies bug blocking 8 attachment Custom Mods
Black Ops Cold War Zombies players have been unable to equip Custom Mods with more than five attachments, and Treyarch have responded to the issue.
Custom Mods have arrived in Black Ops Cold War, allowing players to save their favorite attachment and Blueprint combinations. They can then quickly equip these Custom Mods in multiplayer, Zombies, and League Play.
However, a frustrating bug has been preventing players from using their Custom Mods equipped with eight attachments, and Treyarch has confirmed they are working to fix the issue.
When trying to equip a Custom Mod with eight attachments in Zombies, you will be met with a message that states players “Must equip Gunfighter Wildcard to equip a Custom Mod with more than 5 attachments.”
This message is designed for multiplayer to prevent players from bypassing the Gunfighter Wildcard by equipping a Custom Mod with eight attachments already on the game.
However, the problem is that Zombies doesn’t have Wildcards. This means that players can’t use their eight attachment Custom Mods, even though they can equip eight attachments through upgrading their weapon classes with Aetherium Crystals.
A concerned player asked Treyarch and their community manager, Josh “FoxhoundFPS” Torres, “is there any workaround or fix for equipping an 8 attachment Custom Mod in Zombies?” They also confirmed they had everything “fully tiered up,” unlocking eight attachment slots.
FoxhoundFPS replied, saying “Our team is aware of this issue and working toward a fix.” The issue hasn’t been added to their official Trello board so we don’t have a date for the fix being issued, but it is being addressed.
There is also no Gunfighter Wildcard in Warzone, which is a possible reason why Cold War Custom Mods can’t be taken into the battle royale, as the same issue as here would occur.
In the meantime, players will need to build their Custom Mods again when picking attachments before deploying to Die Maschine, Firebase Z, and Outbreak.
