Cold War players call for fixes to “broken” Strafe Run Scorestreak
Since its introduction, the Strafe Run has become one of the game’s most popular and used Scorestreaks. However, one aspect of the Strafe Run doesn’t sit well with players and they want Treyarch to nerf it.
The Strafe Run is quite possibly the best mid-points Scorestreak in all of Black Ops Cold War as it can inflict great damage. Once activated, a fighter plane will make four separate passes at set intervals to launch a full assault on a designated area of the map.
It’s a fantastic way of adding kills and points to your score, but fans of the game believe that it’s slightly too offensive for a Scorestreak that is considerably cheaper than a VTOL or Chopper Gunner.
The main thing that players are taking exception to is the fact that it can seemingly target and kill players that are indoors, well out of the way.
The point of contention is brought up by Reddit user ele-lan, who showed off an example of how much damage the Strafe Run can actually do.
In a game of Team Deathmatch on the Hijacked map, our player in question was dashing around inside the map’s cabin and rooms.
The game prompted the player that a Strafe Run attack was incoming, but this should obviously have been of no concern to the player as they were well-protected inside a building. As the footage showed, this did not turn out to be the case.
Just as they were about to potentially make their way to the lower reaches of the ship, the overhead Strafe Run took them out.
The worst part is that the killcam played and showed that not only was the player clearly being shielded by multiple walls and floors, but the Strafe Run’s attack didn’t hit anywhere near where the player was located.
A couple of commenters weighed in with their thoughts on the Strafe Run with one person saying: “I’m really sick of this streak. It seems like it takes a lot of points to earn, yet I see it in basically every match I play, either on my team or the opposing team. Maybe people are getting it from Care Packages, Idk. It’s super obnoxious and takes way too long to disappear and can kill you indoors.”
Whereas someone else said: “For something so powerful, it only takes a 10 kill streak. It is broken and kills through buildings most the time, but I still use it, simply because it is a great Scorestreak and the perfect anti-camp weapon.”
It’s already been documented previously how deadly the Strafe Run is and players have been calling for it to be nerfed for some time. Whether Treyarch does this as one of the game’s final major changes remains to be seen.
