Crazy Black Ops Cold War glitch turns Raid into Rainbow Road
One CoD player could have easily been mistaken into thinking he was playing Mario Kart instead of Black Ops Cold War. A bizarre texture glitch effectively turned Raid into the legendary Rainbow Road track.
Have you ever been so bored that you stopped to wonder what a Call of Duty and Mario crossover would look like? Well, now you don’t have to as a colorful glitch has made this somewhat of reality on BOCW’s Raid map.
The footage was captured and shared on the official Black Ops Cold War subreddit, allowing a wider audience to see something that needs to be believed.
The trippy video starts off pretty innocuously, but eagle-eyed viewers will already notice that something is amiss with the map’s trees in the first couple of seconds of the match starting.
After darting off with a Sniper Rifle in his hand, the Reddit user quickly turned to his left to scope out the kitchen, when his eyes were met by a dazzling array of colors and shapes. “Do you guys see this?” he asked, hoping that one of his teammates could see the bizarre scene that was taking place on his screen. “Do I have a texture glitch right now? I’m in like a disco right now!”
Of course, with Black Ops Cold War taking place during the 1980s, a disco feels like a logical next step, although when the lights are hitting you during a tense match, it’s probably not ideal.
The notoriously difficult Rainbow Road course would be proud of this as the colors glow and bounce off of everything, including the Sniper Rifle itself.
We can only imagine how distracting this was for the player, and we would love to know if the issue persisted throughout the whole match.
It also makes us wonder if we need full-on Rainbow matches in Call of Duty, and if CoD should somehow do a weird crossover with Mario Kart.
