Streetsweeper removed from Black Ops Cold War & Warzone after early release

Nicholas Sakadelis

The Streetsweeper Shotgun was accidentally added to Black Ops Cold War & Warzone, and has now been removed, among other weapons.

Sometimes, all good must come to some end, especially if it’s before the planned release date. Recently, we reported that the Streetsweeper Shotgun and two new melee weapons (Wakizashi Sword, Sledgehammer) – were unlockable. This seems to no longer be the case after a hotfix deployed for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.

The original method, as shown in the video below by YouTuber PrestigeIsKey, showcases that the challenge may have not been visible to players, but was still active in the background. If players completed the Streetsweeper challenge in Warzone, they’d be rewarded with the weapon early.

This resulted in many players unlocking the weapon before its intended mid-season release date, and players also quickly discovering the same could be done with the Wakizashi Sword and Sledgehammer. These weapons carried over to Black Ops Cold War, which led to widespread confusion among the community on exactly how these weapons were unlocked.

A Sad Ending

It appears that as of December 23rd, a hotfix was deployed removing the ability to unlock these weapons in Warzone. Additionally, players are now unable to equip the weapon on their Black Ops Cold War and Warzone loadouts, unless the weapon was equipped to a loadout prior to the update.

If you change to another weapon, you will no longer be able to use the Streetsweeper Shotgun or melee weapons.

It’s currently unclear if players will have to re-do all the weapon challenges when they officially drop later in Season 1. Luckily, they aren’t too difficult. You can read up here on how to unlock the Streetsweeper Shotgun, Wakizashi Sword & Sledgehammer.

We’ll update you when these weapons release. Currently, if you have any of these weapons equipped, we recommend you don’t take them off your loadouts. You will lose access to them if you do.
